Alice In Wonderland, chapter 3
The bell rang. Finally! I grabbed my books and stormed out of the classroom and towards my locker. I threw in my books then sighed with relief and started to walk out of the stupid excuse for a school.
"Sorry 'bout that," I heard Billie say behind me.
I couldn't be bothered to stop or turn around so I carried on walking down the dead hallway, "No worries."
"Okay cool... so what are you doing this weekend?"
"Going away."
"Sweet...with your family?"
"Ha! No way. I'm going on my own!"
"Whereabouts?"
"A lake I found."
"Can I come?"
I stopped walking and rapidly turned around making Billie ground to a halt. He gasped. "No you cannot!" I frowned at him with a finger in the air.
"Sheesh. Fine then. You didn't have to be so rude about it."
"Well, if I hadn't you would have asked me again and I would have had to repeat myself." I continued walking again stepping out into the sun.
"Why are you such a bitch?"
I stopped and turned around to look at Billie. "Because Billie, that's just who I am. I can't change it even how much I try. When I do I end up getting even more bitter. So please, get off of my back!"
"What if someone helped you to change yourself?"
"Then I probably wouldn't appreciate it until they had changed me. Bye Billie." I grabbed my bike then quickly cycled home before he could say anything. People always have something to say about things. It annoys the hell out of me. Why can't people just listen every once in a while? Maybe then I wouldn't be like I am.
I lay on the jetty on my belly and dangled my hands into the warm lake. It was so blissful here. No one to judge me. No one to be angry at. Just me. I didn't have to think about anything. It was heaven... until he came.
"Hey!" I recognised the voice and immediately dropped my head hard onto the wood.
"Billie go home!" I turned around leaning on my left elbow. "Please!"
"It's a free country," he sat down on the jetty next to me.
"Then why don't you go somewhere else? There's plenty of space!"
"Because you seem to be the only real person in this town and I like you," he smiled at me through the late sunlight.
"You don't like me Billie. You don't even know me."
"Well I know you enough to know that I want to be here with you." I looked into his eyes and could tell he was telling the truth. "Just give me a chance. You don't seem to do that a lot."
"You're right. I don't. So why should I give you one?"
"Because you've been nasty to me for the last 2 weeks, but I've put up with it. You know, most people at school hate you. And I mean actually hate you."
"So? Do I give a shit?"
"That's why I like you, Alice. Cause you don't care. Just let me stay with you at least for a few hours."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine! But if you start to annoy me, you're leaving."
He grinned happily. "Deal!"
A moment of silence went as I lay on my belly running my hands through the water. For some strange reason I enjoyed somebody's company. I never thought I would, but I did. I smiled for a few seconds. He liked me.
"So...you have any spare food I could have? I'm starving!"
"Sorry 'bout that," I heard Billie say behind me.
