Black Hearts and Renegades, chapter 1

"Zacky, get down stairs now!" Mom called as I groaned into my pillow.
"Yes Ms. Bitch, I'll get right on that," I mumbled. Just to be simple for the day, I crawled out of bed and walked slowly to my bathroom.

Oh yeah, my name is Zachary Thomas Johnson. I got naturally black hair and blue eyes. I'm really tall and skinny, one thing I hate about my self. Trust me, its not the last. Anyway, I'm 14 and I hate it.

I jumped in the shower and stayed there for like five minutes and then got out. I grabbed a towel off the floor and wrapped it around my waist while I walked back into my room. I grabbed an Avenged Sevenfold t-shirt off the floor and pulled it on along with some black jeans with huge holes in the knees.

I put on my studded belt and my black skater shoes. I yawned as I walked down the stairs and saw my little brothers and sister already at the table eating with Mom and Brad. Bradley Vincent was my step-dad. He was the father of all the little kids except for me. My dad died when I was five and my mom married Brad soon after.

I sat down next to Jace and Lilly and grabbed the cereal. Jace is actually Jason Nickolas Johnson-Vincent, and Lilly was Lilian Rose Johnson-Vincent. I poured the cereal in the bowl and tried to grab the milk next only to have my hand swatted away by my little brother Matt. Mathew Bradley Johnson-Vincent is the youngest out of all of us. Hes three years old and probably my favorite sibling.

Jace and Lilly are too much alike. They both dress the same and listen to the same music. Matt on the other hand is like me. He copies everything I do right down to the way I dress. Hes even learning to play my guitar and hes already almost as good as me when it comes to skateboarding.

All of them have dark brown hair and green eyes. They all look just like Brad. Freaky, huh?

"Nice you could join us Zack," Brad grumbled as he sipped his coffee. I rolled my eyes and took a spoon full of Captain Crunch to the mouth. After I ate, I pushed myself away from the table and and walked into the living room. As I reached down to grab my back pack, I realized that Matt had followed me.

"Where ya goin'?" he asked with a playful grin placed on his face.
"Uh school." I slung my back pack over my shoulder.
"Why?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes, "Stop Matt, I'm not in the mood." He giggled as I walked out the front door and started to the high school.

I guess you could say I lived in the nicer area of Berkley, California. We lived in a three story mansion. Considering the fact that Brad works as a music producer and my mom is a singer in a punk rock band, I gotta say thats not bad carrer choices.

It took forever to get to my school. There were to many hills and the streets where always filled with cars and people on bikes. Sometimes I would catch the bus to school, other times this is what happened. As my foot stepped into a puddle I told myself I would've been better off taking the bus.

I hated going to school. Most of the kids where either preps or outsiders. If you were an outsider, you were nothing. The outsiders were kids that listened to weird music and dressed in funny clothes. I guess you can call me and outsider. Preps on the other hand had parents who had six cars in their drive way and a million dollar home.

I'm not saying I don't got six cars in my drive way but most of my friends don't know about that. They know my moms a singer in a punk band and my step-dad's a producer, and to me thats all they need to know.

Its bugs me when people ask about my family life. Most people know I have four siblings and shit but no one knows about my dad and no one really ever asks either.

Some outsiders do know about me and make fun of me because I already have a 2006 black BMW waiting for me in the garage when I turn 15. Hey, I didn't ask for it, my mom just knows how to spoil me. I used to be even more spoiled but then all the other kids popped out and I was kicked to the curb.

What am I talking about? I bet Lilly and Jace got rides to school and their gonna get picked up. What about me? I catch the bus every where. I do everything for myself. Lets not mention I have a job too. Maybe working at a music store isn't paradise but the pay is good. Plus, I get whatever CDs I want for free.

Oh yeah, back to the story.

I approached the high school and saw a couple kids dressed in American Eagle standing infront of the enterance. I deicided to do my emo pose and freak them out, so I hung my head a little and let my black shaggy hair hang in my face while I shoved my hands deep into my pockets.

"Hey look at the gothic kid," one whispered to another. I closed my eyes tightly and walked past them in silence.
