"Daddy, where'd you find Subaru?" Jake asked, carrying the games to his room.
"Just walking and she came to me," Billie Joe laughed. Joey came running back down the hall and grabbed hold of me, then ran back to his room.
"Joey? What're you doing?" I heard Billie Joe yell faintly. I tried to get away, but couldn't. Joey shut the door and tossed me onto his bed.
"Ha...try and do something NOW Jake. Come save your precious little friend," Joey taunted through the door.
"JOEY! Come on! Subaru never did anything to you!" Jake said. I jumped to the floor.
"And he won't anytime soon," I said. Joey spun around, releasing his hold on the door.
Jake and Billie Joe stormed in. I sat there, looking up at them. "Now I can talk to you guys." Billie Joe's jaw dropped.
"Cool!" Jake exclaimed, running over to me and gently picking me up. I hopped onto his shoulder. "You can talk!"
"Yeah, and if your brother bothers you again, call me," I laughed.
"Woah, woah, woah," Billie Joe said. "Then is your name actually Subaru?"
"Well, my full name is Christian Alexra van Halen, but now it's Subaru," I answered.
"Van Halen...like the band?"
"Spelled the same way. Where can I sleep?"
"Oh! Oh! You can come in my room!" Jake exclaimed. "I'd be more than happy to split it!"
"Alright," I said, leaping to the floor. "Let's go." I ran into Jake's room and dragged a spare pillow out from under his bed and settled it into a corner.
"Night," I said once he'd climbed into bed.
"Night, Subaru," Jake muttered.
THE NEXT MORNING
I sat up and stretched, then looked around. "Oh, shit..." I muttered. "I'm human again." I quietly went downstairs, hoping no one would spot me.
"HEY!" someone hissed. "Who're you!?"
"Ow, Billie Joe, let me go!" I whimpered. He released me and I stepped forward.
"Subaru?" he said. "But...what the hell's going on?"
"I'm Subaru all right. A semi-human Subaru."
"Semi?"
"I still have my cat ears and fangs."
"Daddy, who's that? A friend of Joey's?" Jake asked, coming downstairs and rubbing his eyes.
"No, Jake, this is Subaru," Billie Joe answered.
"Another Subaru?"
"Just call me Alexra," I smiled, kneeling down to Jake's level.
"Are you Joey's girlfriend?"
"No, Jake, I'm not."
"Will you be mine?"
"Sorry kid," Billie Joe laughed. "She's too old for you."
"Oh well. Can I have breakfast now?"
"Sure, Jake," I smiled. "What do you want?"
"Something."
