Carpe Diem, chapter 10

"What...what's going on?" I asked, looking around the stadium full of people.
"To be a musician, you have to have concerts," Dad explained, "So your mother and I set this one up, especially for you, as your birthday present from us."
"Aw, thanks," I smiled, and hugged him, "Where's my bassist and drummer girls?"
"Hold on," he said, and ran offstage. He came back with a familiar old beaten-up guitar case. "Here, use this one tonight." My eyes widened as he opened the case and took out Blue.
"Dad, I couldn't," I said, "That's Blue."
"Yes, you can," he insisted, putting the strap over my shoulder, "Please. For me." I looked down at the legendary guitar and then back up at my legendary father, and I knew he could see the insecurity in my eyes. "You'll be great." He smiled reassuringly and I grinned back and started the chords to Wake Me Up When September Ends. He kissed my forehead and then stepped to the side to watch as I stepped up to the mike. My hands were tingling from the contact with the famous guitar, as was the rest of my body from the joy of being on stage. When the song was over, I looked over at Dad, who was clapping loudly with tears in his eyes. I sniffed and he came over to me and hugged me.
"How was that?" I asked.
"Amazing," he replied, and stepped away again. I thought for a moment and then started playing Basket Case. When I was done, Tré came over to me. I smiled and stepped away from the mike as he took the guitar from me and handed it to Dad.
"What's up?" I asked quietly as he stood there looking antsy.
"Well...uh..."
"Come on, Tré, spit it out," I giggled, "You're acting all weird."
"I love you," he said, finally looking me in the eye.
"I know, and I love you too," I responded, smiling and stepping close to him and wrapping my arms around his neck.
He smiled and rested his forearms on my hips. "I want you to have my babies," he whispered.
"I know, baby," I nodded.
"And I want it to be legitimate." I tilted my head, confused. He pressed his lips to mine quickly before pulling away, but just barely, so his lips were still brushing mine lightly. "Marry me."
