A Night You Won't Forget, chapter 1
A single rain drop makes it's mark on the clean windshield of the '96 mustang. Andrew looks up over the dashboard and towards the darkening sky above them.
"I think we can expect rain tonight." Andrew said to his friends. Megan turned to face him from the passenger seat. She smile and rolled down the window.
"What are you doing?" Andrew asked her.
"I love rain!" She said as she poked her head out the window. She stared up at the sky as Andrew gave her a glare.
"Please get your head back in the car!"
"Yeah Megan before you give Andrew a heart attack." Adam chimed in from the back seat.
"It wouldn't be the first time she's given him one." Holly said with a smile and a laugh. Megan pulled her head back in the car and glanced behind her. There sat her three friends, Adam, Holly, and Kelley. Holly was once again leaning on Adam, the two practically cuddling while Kelley sat looking out the window.
"Aw I wish I had a window, I'd stick my head out in the rain too!" Kelley stated. Megan smiled at her.
"Yeah you would." She said.
"No ones sticking their heads out any window." Andrew said. He rolled up Megan's window and locked it with the button on his door.
"Thanks Andrew. You sure do know how to make things boring." Megan spat at him. Andrew made a face at her and the car grew silent again.
"Where exactly are we going?" Holly asked.
"Yeah I haven't seen a thing for miles now." Adam said. He looked out the window. "It's nothing but open country.
"When you said we were going for a ride I didn't know you meant out in the middle of no where." Megan teased.
"Would you get off my back? I just don't know where we are." Andrew answered. He looked down at his meters. "And it looks like we're almost out of gas."
"Great." Kelley said from the back seat.
"It's okay we'll just get some gas before we head back." Andrew said.
"From where? I haven't seen a gas station for at least an hour." Megan cried out. She looked around the open area for any sign of life.
"Everyone just calm down okay?" Andrew stated. He looked in his rear view mirror. Two headlights were blinding him. "Who's this idiot behind me?"
The others turned their heads to take a look at what Andrew was talking about. The vehicle behind them was so close the only thing any of them could see was the blinding lights.
"Let him pass you." Megan said.
Andrew stuck his arm out the window and waved the driver behind him to pass him. The vehicle moved around the friends and drove past them. They finally saw what it was that was once behind them.
"Wow. Is that a tour bus?" Holly asked.
"I think so." Kelley answered.
"Who do you think it is?" Adam asked.
"It might not be anyone, it could just be an old couple." Andrew said. Every looked at him. "A rich old couple?"
"Whatever it doesn't matter. They're gone." Megan stated. "They could have had a map or something. Something that would have helped us with where we are."
"And what was I supposed to do? Pull them over?" Andrew asked.
Suddenly the red lights shinning from behind the tour bus that was now a good distance in front of them went out. Andrew slowed his speed.
"What just happened?" Megan asked. Holly and Adam leaned forward to get a better look of the road ahead of them.
"It's too dark to see anything." Kelley said.
Andrew turned on his brights and lit up the road a head of them. There in the middle of the road was the bus flipped on it's side. Andrew was going too fast to be able to stop.
"STOP!" Megan screamed at the top of her lungs. But it was too late. Andrew merely slowed the impact down. The mustang ran straight into the over turned bus. The force of the crash caused the bus to be pushed even further down the road as the mustang stopped.
Megan lifted her head form the dashboard where it had landed. She felt the sensation of warm blood running down her forehead. She looked around her friends to see they were pretty much in the same condition as she was.
"Is everyone alright?" She asked.
Andrew rubbed his own head to find he had no blood but felt a huge bump on the side of his head. Holly was hunched over the middle area of the front seats where the cupholders usually are. Adam was leaning his head on the back of Megan's seat, he seemed to be okay. Kelley had her eyes closed, though she was awake.
"Do you think they're okay?" Andrew asked, nodding towards the bus that was now further in front of them.
"I don't know." Megan answered. "Let's find out."
