A Night You Won't Forget, chapter 10
Andrew led Megan out of the basement and started towards the stair case. Something caught Megan's eye before they started up the stairs.
"Andrew look!" She cried out. Andrew stopped dead in his tracks and glanced over to where Megan was pointing.
Out on the porch banging on the front door was Kelley. Andrew ran to the door, opened it and let a soaked Kelley stumble in.
"Kelley!" Megan cried out. The two embraced as if they had not seen each other in years. Kelley then moved on to Andrew giving him a big hug as well.
"Where's Billie and Holly?" Andrew asked. The hope and joy that had just lit up Kelley's eyes died.
"They didn't make it," she said silently. Megan put a hand to her mouth to stop an out burst of cries.
"It's time we got out of here," Andrew exclaimed. The three of them turned around towards the door.
"NO!" Kelley screamed.
The figure was standing right out side the door. The outline of the figure was etched onto to glass windows of the door.
"Bastard! Why won't he leave us alone?" Kelley screamed again. Andrew grabbed her by the arm and the three started to run the other way. As they were running Megan glanced back behind them to see the figure had opened the door and was now inside the house.
"There has to be a back door somewhere," Andrew said. They had reached the back of the house. Megan and Kelley stood still staring straight at the figure slowly coming towards them as Andrew looked around for a door.
"Andrew!" Megan cried. The figure was coming closer and closer with each
second. Andrew came back to them and led them away.
"He's back here now we might as well make a run for the front door," Andrew cried out. They all ran the opposite way from the figure and into the kitchen. Once in there Andrew stopped. He took one of the tables in there and pushed it up against the door. There came a bang on the door as Andrew and then left the kitchen.
"He can just come around the other way," Megan cried out. They all ran into the next room that was attached to the kitchen, the living room. All they had to do was go through this room and they would be back in the entrance on the house.
"Hurry!" Andrew cried. They all ran through the living room and out into the entranceway. They all ran towards the door. But there was something there that had stopped them.
"Oh my god!" Megan screamed. There were chains attached to the door knob, locking it from any use.
"NO!" Andrew screamed in frustration. He started hitting the locks with his foot.
Nothing happened, they didn't budge.
"He won't let us go!" Kelley cried out. "He won't let us go."
"Like hell he won't!" Andrew shouted. He pounded on the door with his hands in anger. He continued to kick the locks.
Megan looked down the hallway. There was nothing there. She looked for any
sign of the figure. Nothing.
"He's gone," Megan sighed out. Kelley turned towards her.
"How could that be?" she asked, scared.
"He's not gone! He's playing with us!" Andrew shouted at the door. He had not
even turned to face the others. "He's fucking with our minds!"
"Andrew please!" Megan shouted at him.
Andrew continued to kick at the door trying to get it open. Finally he had given up. He turned his back on the door, leaned against it, and slowly slid down to the floor.
"There has to be another way out," Kelley cried.
Andrew glanced over beside him. There was a long axe just lying against the corner of the wall. Why hadn't he seen that before?
"There is!" He cried out. He grabbed hold of the axe and started hacking at the chains. The chains still wouldn't budge. Kelley came a little closer to him.
"Go for the handles!" she told him. Andrew started to hack at the handles the chains were attached to.
Megan stood still watching the two try and make out a way from them to escape this hell. Something inside her told her to turn around. She spun around to glance behind her, but nothing was there. Fear grew inside of her, as if they weren't going to escape. She turned around back to face her two friends.
Suddenly from directly behind her the figure popped out of no where. Megan didn't even notice she was in danger until she heard the rattling of the chains behind her. She wasn't given any time to scream before they were wrapped around her neck, strangling her. No scream came from her lips; she made no noise to get the other's attention. The chains were cutting in to Megan's flesh. She could feel the blood starting to drip down her neck.
It took Kelley's glance back from the door she and Andrew had been working on to know Megan was being attacked. Kelley screamed at the sight of her friend being killed.
"Andrew!" Kelley screamed. Andrew pulled his attention away from the door and onto what Kelley was screaming about. He looked over to Megan and saw what Kelley was seeing
"MEGAN!" Andrew screamed. He raised the axe above his head and ran towards the figure holding Megan.
"Andrew no!" Kelley screamed.
"Let go of her you bastard!" He screamed as he took a swing at the figure. The axe made contact with the head of the figure, knocking him backwards. Megan was released from his grip. She fell to the floor, the chains still dug into her throat.
Andrew continued to bash on the figure with the axe. He finally struck inside the cloaked head. A screeching sound only known to Kelley came from the figure as she raged around the room with the axe embedded in its face. Black blood started to pour out of the wound and before long the figure was on the floor, dead.
Kelley was near Megan's side. She had her hands around Megan's face, trying to keep her awake.
"Please, please don't die," Kelley begged quietly. Andrew turned around to face them. The anger in his eyes was replaced by fear. Fear of Megan's life being over. Andrew hurried to Megan.
