A Night You Won't Forget, chapter 5

"Don't you think it's a little weird how Mike hasn't come back yet?" Holly asked. She and Adam had been looking around the house ever since they left their friends. "I don't like this place at all."
"It's okay! Everything is alright," Adam assured her. He wasn't too sure himself how things were going to turn out. "I'm sure Mike's up in his room right now as we speak."
"I hope so."

Holly and Adam continued their walk through the house. They soon reached the hallway near the entry way. They had only been in the start of this hallway and decided to venture further down.
"We're leaving tomorrow morning right?" Holly asked.
"Right."
"I can't wait to get the hell out of here."
"Holly look, there's another door." Adam noticed. The two were near the end of the hallway. The door they had spotted was the only door in the entire hallway. Other than the ones near the entrance.

"Where does it lead?" Holly asked.
"We'll find out I guess," Adam said as he reached for the door handle.
"Wait, what are you doing?" Holly cried out. She reached for Adam's hand before he could take hold of the knob.
"What?" He asked. "You want to know where this leads don't you?"
"Yeah but without us having to go in there. I don't trust anything in this house! Please can we just go up stairs?" Holly begged.
"Come on Holly, nothing bad is gonna happen. Let's check take a quick look around and we'll leave, okay?"

It took a few seconds for Holly to surrender to Adam's idea. Finally she nodded and Adam opened the door. The light from the hallway was the only light that lit up the room. From what they could see the only thing there was a stairway leading down towards the bottom of the house.
"It looks like the basement," Adam said.
"Thanks, I don't think I would have been able to figure that one out," Holly stated sarcastically.

Adam started to walk down into the basement. Holly grabbed his shoulder, protesting his curiosity. Adam simply shrugged her hand off of him and continued down.
"Adam, please don't leave me up here alone!" Holly shouted down the stairs.
"Then come on down."
"No way!"
"Then stay up there. I'm going down to see what is in here." Adam gave one last glance back to Holly before descending even further into the darkened basement. Holly looked around her a few times before walking down the stairs herself. She joined Adam by his side, grabbing onto his sleeve for dear life. "Holly calm down, its okay!"

The basement was dark, too dark to see anything in front of them. Adam took his lighter out of his pocket. He lifted the lighter above his head and lit it. The light given off of the flame wasn't big enough to light up the entire room, but it gave the two at least a two feet diameter of light.
"There has to be a light somewhere around here," Holly said. She looked around the room but could not see anything.
"Where's the wall?" Adam asked.
"What wall?"
"Any wall! The light switch would be on the wall."

Adam moved around the room searching for any part of the wall. Holly continued to hold on to Adam's arm. Adam started waving his arms out in front of him. His left arm hit something solid.
"I think I found something," Adam said. He handed Holly the lighter for her to hold while he had two arms open to search around. Holly took the lighter out of Adams' hand and stepped back.

Adam started poking around in front of him with both hands. He felt something hard in front of him, but he couldn't quite tell what it was. He started to feel around in on certain area. The only feeling he could identify was the feeling of cloth.
"Adam I found a light switch!" Holly said. She had been feeling around the walls for the light switch she had just found. With one swift movement Holly switched on the lights to reveal what Adam had been feeling for. A scream came from Holly. Adam stumbled backwards away from what was in front of him. Holly fell to her knees screaming.

The body of Mike Dirnt hung from the ceiling before them. Adam stared into the dead eyes of Mike as he hung there by the neck. Holly continued to scream on the ground as Adam tries to gather himself.
"Holly! We have to get out of here!" He screams.
Adam spun around to face Holly. She was still on the ground, still screaming, still staring at Mike's body. He bent down and helped Holly to her feet. Holly grabbed onto both of Adam's arms. He led her away from the body.
"Listen to me Holly, we need to get out of here!" Adam tried to calm her down. "We're gonna get out of here."

Tears started to fall down Holly's face.
"Holly listen to me, we're gonna get out of here we just have to... " Out of nowhere a metal bat made contact with Adam's head. Adam fell limp to the floor, breaking his connection with Holly. Holly bent down to his limp body.
"ADAM!" She screamed. She tried to shake him but he wouldn't move. His mouth was moving, spitting up blood.

A dark figure appeared from the darkness behind where Adam once stood. The figure did not charge towards Holly, but stood in silence and watched Holly try and move Adam. Holly noticed the figure who was only five feet from her. Adam slowly turned his head sideways to see who had attacked him.
"Holly... " Adam sputtered out. Through the blood that was coming from Adam's mouth Holly listened to the words he was saying. "Run. Get out of here," He slowly cried out to her.
"Adam!" She silently screamed to him.
"Just go!" Adam used his last strength to push Holly away from the figure and towards the stairs. Holly obeyed Adam's last wish and ran towards the stair way near her. She looked back to Adam who was motioning for her to run. With the only strength she had left Holly ran up the stairs to the main floor.

Adam lay on the floor and watched his friend run up the stairs. He continued to cough up blood as the room around him started to spin. Everything grew darker than what it was supposed to be. He glanced up to Mike's body that was still hanging above him. He knew he would soon join him. Adam used every last bit of strength in his body to turn around and face the figure behind him.

The dark figure moved closer and closer to him. Finally the figure came into the light where Adam could see it. It was a person in a pitch black cloak, his face completely hidden. Adam stared down the figure. Two arms reached out for him, lifting him up by his own arms. Adam gave out a moan of pain as this was done. The figure leaned Adam against the wall next to Mike as he reached inside his cloak for something. Adam closed his eyes, too scared to see what was about to happen. He felt something go around his neck. Adam opened his eyes and watched the figure tie a rope around a bar attached to the ceiling.
"NO!" Adam screamed. He screamed out as much as he could as the figure tightened the rope around his neck. Finally the figure pulled on the slack of the rope attached to the ceiling, causing the part attached to Adam to raise higher.

It only took one last pull for Adam to be dead. Even though the job had been done the figure continued to pull the rope so that Adam was at the same height as Mike was. As the murdering figure walked out of the room, Adam and Mike's body was left there hanging side by side.
