A Night You Won't Forget, chapter 8
"Here's the door," Holly said soberly. She stood completely opposite of the door she was pointing too. "He's down there."
Andrew stepped in front of her. He grabbed hold of the door knob and twisted it open. He looked behind him towards the others.
"I'm going down there. Who's coming with me?"
Billie stepped forward along with Tre.
"Kelley, Holly, you guys stay up here. If this guy is down there you'll be safe up here," Tre said to them. Kelley and Holly agreed and watched their friends walk down the stairs and into the darkness.
Andrew led the group downwards, followed by Billie then Tre. They took their time, watching out for whatever might be around them. It wasn't long before they reached the bottom of the basement. Andrew made room for Billie and Tre to stand to get off the stairs, but didn't go any further.
"How do we want to do this?" Billie asked. "Are we going to split up?"
"I think we should at least try to stick together as much as possible," Tre offered. He glanced over his should as if he had heard something.
"You're just scared," Billie teased.
"Two of my friends and one of your band mates are missing. You should be scared too," Andrew said to Billie's face. "We have to find them."
"Okay we'll stay together," Billie said.
The three of them wondered around unknowingly around the room where Adam had been murdered. They searched every corner, every room down there until they came to the conclusion of the basement being empty.
"There's nothing down here," Billie said.
"He must have left. He probably still has Megan," Andrew said. He walked into the last room, the one room they have not yet checked out.
The room was dark and looked like every other room in the basement. There was no light switch or any way to tell what was in front of him. Billie and Tre stayed out of the room and continued to look around the other rooms in the basement.
"Billie what are we gonna do if we can't find them?" Tre asked. He walked around the room next to the one where their friend had been hanging not even a day earlier.
"Mike's still here. He has to be still here. We can't leave without him," Billie answered him. "I'm gonna check out the other room."
"Alright I'll just stay here," Tre responded. Billie left the room and Tre behind him. Tre was alone in the darkened room. He took a deep breath and continued to look around for any sign of his friend being alive.
A sound came from behind him. Tre spun around quickly to see what had made the sound. There was nothing there. Tre's fear grew. He could sense there was something else in the room with him. Tre turned his back on the noise and continued to walk forwards.
Billie walked straight towards the room Holly had described as the room Adam had died in. Something on the ground caught his eyes. He bent down and picked up what he found to be a lighter. It was Adam's lighter; his name was etched onto the bottom of the lighter.
"Well, at least we know he was here," Billie said to himself. He stood back up with the lighter still in his hands. He lit the lighter and used it to light his way. He held the light towards the floor at something that he had noticed.
There was blood all over the floor. There were even handprints covered in blood around the puddle. It looked like a scene of a crime, the hand prints looked as if they had been held down with force and then moved. Maybe against their will.
"Oh my god," Billie sighed out. He lifted the light towards the ceiling. There attached to a bar were two ropes. This jogged Billie's memory. Holly had said Mike and Adam's bodies were hung from the ceiling. "Andrew! Tre! Come in here!"
Andrew ran into the room. He saw what Billie was looking at and gave out a moan of disbelief.
"What is it?" He asked. "Is that where Mike was hung?"
"I'm guessing." Billie looked around. "Where's Tre?"
Tre walked even further into the room. Another noise came from behind him. It sounded like breathing. Someone was breathing behind him, or so he thought. Tre spun around one more time to see if there was anything behind him. Nothing.
When he turned around to face the darkness once more he came face to face with the dark figure. It was there in front of him, holding up a hook large enough to pierce the human body. Tre's eyes filled with fear.
"Oh shit!" Were his final words before the figure hooked him. The sharp end drove up through Tre's throat and out the back of his head. Tre didn't die instantly, it took a few blood spewing moments for his life to end. The figure used the hook to drag Tre's body into the darkness. Billie and Andrew were both in the room right next to him and they didn't even hear him scream.
"Where is he?" Billie asked. He walked into the room Tre was just in. "I left him here. If he would have left the room I would have seen him." The light in Billie's face faded. A feeling of dread entered him.
"What?" Andrew asked. Billie had completely stopped moving. His face was like a stone.
"We have to get out of this room. We have to get out of this basement," Billie said in a horrified tone. "Tre's dead."
"What?" Andrew asked.
"He's dead. The guy's in this room."
"How the hell do you know?" Andrew cried out. Billie pointed towards the floor in front of them.
"Can't beat fresh blood on the floor."
Billie motioned Andrew towards the door. Andrew followed their suggestion and the two of them moved towards the door. The second they reentered the other room Andrew spun around.
Right there in front of both of them, in the room they had just left, was the dark figure. It stood there, menacingly staring at them. Andrew's eyes grew in fear. Billie lost his breath.
"Who are you!" Andrew shouted. The figure didn't move, it didn't even wince. There was silence between the three.
"We should run," Billie said under his breath.
"Wait," Andrew whispered back. The figure had reached back behind his own back to grab a hold of something. It took one step to the side and pushed something towards Andrew and Billie.
Coming towards them, hung by a hook attached to the bar leading from one room to the other, was the body of Tre Cool. It swung carelessly through the air towards both Andrew and Billie. Andrew ducted out of the way before it could hit him. Billie was not so fast. Tre's body slapped Billie with full force straight on. The force knocked Billie to the ground flat on his back.
Andrew hurried to help Billie up. The two started running for the stairs without looking back towards the figure. They didn't know whether or not it was coming towards them. They were nearly half way up the stairs before Andrew felt a hand grab hold of his foot. He fell face first onto the stairs.
"Run! Get out of here!" Andrew shouted as Billie turned around to help him up. Billie grabbed hold of Andrews arm before looking further down to see what had him. The figure was also lying on it's stomach with it's hand around Andrew's foot.
The door above them swung up. Kelley and Holly stared down in horror at the situation their friends were in. They both started screaming the names of their friends as they fought for their lives.
"Go! Get them out of here!" Andrew shouted to Billie. Billie gave Andrew one last tug of the arm before letting go. He started his run up the stairs once more. Once he reached the top he grabbed hold of Kelley and Holly.
"We have to get out of here!" He cried out.
"What about Andrew?" Kelley screamed. She looked down the stairs. Andrew was still alive, but only for so long. Billie successfully got Holly away from the stairs and further down the hallway.
"Get out of here!" Andrew shouted.
"ANDREW NO!" Kelley screamed at the top of her lungs.
That's when the figure did something no one suspected. The cloaked head looked straight up towards Kelley. The look on Kelley's face turned from scared to horrified. The figure stood up straight on the stairs and headed straight for her.
"Close the door!" Andrew shouted. "Close the door and run!"
Kelley was frozen in horror. She was unable to move, unable to run for her life. The figure was moving closer and closer. Suddenly Billie grabbed Kelley by the shoulders and moved her out of the way just in time. The two ran down the hallway towards Holly who was already waiting for them by the staircase leading to the second level.
The figure left the basement and was now on the main floor. Andrew was left on the stairs for reasons unknown to him. He slowly got up with the help of the railing attached to the wall. He didn't know what to do.
"Andrew."
Andrew spun around. A voice had called out to him. It sounded so close, as if it were only in his mind.
"Andrew."
It continued to call out to him. It was coming from deep down into the basement. Andrew turned his body towards the bottom basement and with one single step, he followed the voice.
Andrew stepped in front of her. He grabbed hold of the door knob and twisted it open. He looked behind him towards the others.
"I'm going down there. Who's coming with me?"
Billie stepped forward along with Tre.
