Best. Year. EVER!, chapter 1
"Flight 620 now arriving," the announcer lady said. I could hardly contain my excitement. I jumped up and down screaming and dragged my mom to the terminal. She shook her head at me as I waved my sign that was quite hilariously decorated hyperly and screamed, "Nicole! Nicole! Nicole!"
"Morgan, would you calm down a bit?" my mom said, quietly.
"Fine...." I sighed putting down my sign for half a second only to throw it to the ground and scream, "NICOLE!"
"MORGAN!" she screamed back and we ran and hugged each other. We jumped up and down for a few minutes, hollering.
My mom came over, "Okay girls. Let go of each other. Hello, Nicole. How was your flight?"
"Good," Nicole said choking back laughter.
"AHH!! It's Nicole!" I screamed again. We all, including my mom, started jumping up and down again.
We stopped for a second I picked up my trampled sign. "You made a sign?" Nicole asked.
"OF COURSE!"
Eventually, we got to the car and my mom drove us home. Nicole would be staying with us for this school year because...she got in a feud with her family and we told her we'd take her in. But...it was the first time we were seeing each other in person from GSB and we were understandably excited.
We got to my house, "I give you your new home!"
"Isn't it lovely?" my mom said.
"Yeah," Nicole said as she got out of the car.
"Please. Not like it's a mansion," I said putting a hand on my hip then looking around at the barns and silos nearby.
"Yeah...but it's pretty nice."
"Well it better be because you're living here. But you're gonna be in the guest room." mom said taking her stuff out of the trunk.
"What? Why can't she be with me?" I cried.
"Oh please, Morgan. Your room's much too small. You really want to spend a year with an extra bed in your room?"
I just pouted, "Fine," I grabbed Nicole's arm and dragged her inside but before I was even halfway up the porch....
"Morgan! Come get some things for our guest!"
"Ugh. Guest?" I went back slowly and picked up a bag.
"Well, yeah, she's our guest for a year."
"So I have to attend to her needs?"
"Yes! Go servant go!" Nicole swung an imaginary whip.
I sighed, "What's with me and imaginary whips in my stories?"
Nicole shrugged and we went to the guest room.
"Well...here ya go."
"Thanks." Nicole said.
I sat down on the bed and pointed to the wall opposite it, "That's where the computer used to be but we moved it upstairs to the hallway."
"Cool."
"Sure." We went to bring in the rest of her stuff. My family soon came out of their hiding places to say hello.
"So you're Nicole?" Jason said.
"Yep. I'm the one."
"Nicole, this is my oldest brother Jason. He goes to college at (college removed for personal safety reasons)."
"Hi," She waved to him. He smiled and went to help my mom bring in her stuff.
"Triston! Come say hi to your new sister!" Nicole gave me a look. "Just kidding of course, sis."
He grumbled something as usual and then came over and said, "Hello. I'm Triston...Morgan's younger older brother."
"Yeah. Figured that," Nicole said.
"Well then...." he stood there awkwardly for a bit.
"Okay. You can go now," I laughed and he went back to his room which was his little world. *insert me rolling eyes here*
"Hello, Nicole," my dad said, "How was your flight?"
"Oh. Good."
"Good. You liking Indiana so far?"
"Um...I guess."
"It's no California," I said. Nicole laughed. "Well...isn't this interesting? Standing here. Let's go put your stuff up!"
We worked a bit on putting Nicole things in the right places. That pillow there, some clothes there, poster over there, another there, laughing and chatting the whole time. Eventually we finished and we sat down on her bed. She got out a Twix from her pocket and we shared it. I bounced a bit on the bed, "What's so exciting?" Nicole said.
I smiled, "This is gonna be the best year EVER!" I hollered.
"No kidding!" We grabbed each other screaming and laughed our asses off for the next few minutes.
"Morgan, would you calm down a bit?" my mom said, quietly.
