"That was out of the blue," Mike laughed. "But is close to six. Makes sense you'd be hungry."
"Duh. Being in a different time zone doesn't help much either," I said. "So what are we gonna do for dinner?"
"How about we go out? I don't feel like cooking," Adrienne suggested.
"Sounds good to me," Joey said, and everyone nodded in agreement.
So we all headed out, just walking to wherever.
"Does anyone have any idea where we're going?" I asked. Billie Joe shook his head, and Mike shrugged. "Great." Then I spotted a small café. "Hey, let's go there."
We walked in, and not many people were there, maybe 1 or 2, plus the staff. They looked relieved to know someone was coming in. We took our seats, and a waitress came over.
"My name's Crystal, and I'll be serving you tonight," she smiled. Tre was checking her out, and I kicked his knee.
"What was that for!?" Tre yelled, grabbing his knee.
"Will you stop being a pervert for one minute?" I sighed, and everyone laughed, and Crystal looked confused. Then she recognized him.
"Oh my god, Tre Cool," she said, her eyes REALLY wide.
"The one and only," Tre grinned.
"I ADORE Green Day. Holy crap, this is an honor."
"Really?" Billie smirked. "I didn't think we were that loved." He said the last part glancing at me.
"And just what do you mean by that, mister?" I huffed, putting my hands on my hips. We did this a lot, and it confused people why we did.
"Am I... missing something?" Crystal asked, worried. I laughed.
"Nah, we do this all the time. It confuses people, and that's a hobby of both mine and Billie Joe's."
"Okay..." Crystal said, relieved. She took our orders, and then went to give them to the back, then came back and pulled up a chair to sit with us. "So... you're the famous Kay, huh?"
"Yeah," I replied, wondering where I knew her from. Crystal seemed so... familiar. Oh. My. God. Crystal. "Crystal?"
"Yeah?"
"What's your last name?"
"Odora, why?"
"Curious," I said, her answer sinking in. It's HER. One of my family members is still alive, but I'm not in her memory. That's my COUSIN. She wasn't blood relation, so she was spared.
"Kay, can I talk to you for a minute?" Billie Joe asked, noticing the sudden change in my mood. I stood up, and followed him to the other end of the café. "What's up? Where do you know her from?"
"That's my cousin, Billie. My COUSIN," I was really happy, and I was shaking from excitement.
"Holy crap, are you serious? But why didn't she recognize you?"
"I'm guessing I was erased from her memory, and she got a completely different life memory."
"That's... screwed up, but it makes sense."
CRYSTAL'S POV
Why does that girl seem so familiar? I can swear I've met her before. Wait a minute, what am I remembering? Oh my God, I remember! Kay's my cousin!
"Excuse me one moment," I said, jumping up from the table and running over to Kay and Billie Joe. "Kay, I remember! I remember everything!"
"Crystal, I can't believe you survived!" she cried, and hugged me. "For the first time, thank God you aren't of blood relation to me."
"I know. Mom is still alive, but Sarah... what happened to her?"
"... She was one of the first I found dead..." Kay whispered, letting go of me and looking down. I shut my eyes and took a couple deep breaths. It's hard to take just finding out your 12 year old little sister was murdered. I thought she'd been killed in a car crash when she was with her dad when she was 7. "It's hard to take, I know. How's Aunt Mindy?"
"Good, but I don't think she remembers you."
"I can deal with that, as long as I know she's alive and doing well."
"Crystal! Get back on the job!" someone yelled from the back.
"Alright Lindy!" I yelled back. "Well, let's get you guys some food, alright?"
KAY'S POV
I'm so relieved to know someone remembers me. It really means a lot. Most people wouldn't think much of it, but after all I've been through, it means the world to me.
"So? What happened?" Laury asked, nudging me with her elbow. That girl can always tell my moods. "Come on! You know I don't like cliffhangers!"
"Crystal's my cousin, guys! My COUSIN!" I whispered excitedly.
"Oh my god, Kay, that's terrific!" Laury exclaimed, hugging me. Everyone was shooting me questions.
"Okay, okay, one at a time here!" I laughed.
"Me first!" Stella cried.
"Shoot me, girl."
"Why wasn't Crystal killed with the rest of your family?"
"She isn't blood relation, so she didn't count as true family, and my existence was wiped from her memory. I'm guessing at that last part, so you'd have to ask her."
"Ask who what?" Crystal said, coming back with our food.
"You. What happened to Kay in your memory?" Stella asked her.
"Well, I'd been given a completely different memory of my life, and now my real memories have come flooding back to me," Crystal finished, handing Mike his coffee.
"That's screwed up," Jake said.
"Tell me about it," Crystal laughed.
We finished about an hour later, and invited Crystal back to our house. Once we got inside, I saw someone running out the back door. I ran over, and tackled whoever it was to the ground.
"WHAT THE HELL, MATT!?" I yelled. "YOU GAVE ME A FRIGGED HEART ATTACK!!!"
"Sorry, sorry," Matt said, picking himself up off the ground. I saw Derek fall out of the bushes howling with laughter.
"And you, Derek! You're no better!"
"But... jeez... it's... so... funny," Derek muttered, still laughing. I went and whacked his head the hardest I could. "I guess... I... deserved... that."
"Damn right you did."
"What's going on? Anyone hurt?" Adie said, coming over.
"It's the Dumbass Duo, that's all," I sighed.
"Matt? Derek? What are you freaks doing here?" Nick asked.
"To see you freaks, that's what," Derek said.
"Yeah, okay, whatever, just don't do that again, alright?" I said. "Now that that's settled, let's go inside and screw our brains over."
"What are we screwing?" Tre asked, jumping up and down.
"Do whatever you want to, Tre-but too YOURSELF," I said, glaring at him. "Don't get all horny on everyone and drool."
"You take the fun out of everything," Tre whined.
"I'm protecting everyone else here. Unless you want another nosebleed."
"Okay, I'll be good." He stood straight up, knowing I'm not afraid to knock someone's lights out if they deserved it.
Crystal stayed the night, and Tre actually contained himself, which is quite a feat.
"I'm going to sleep. See you people whenever I wake up or feel like getting out of my bed," I yawned.
"Alright, Kay," Adie said. "'Night."
"'Night." I went upstairs and changed, then climbed into my bed and turned my TV on. The news came on. I was about to change the channel when I saw 'Davie, Florida,' pop up on the bottom of the screen. I shot up and awake.
"There was another murder in Davie tonight," the reporter said. "It was a young family, 11 year old Jymalcai Davis, and her parents Heather and Tomokai Davis."
"Jimmie... ," I muttered, jumping out of bed, running downstairs, grabbing Laury, and dragging her up to my room.
"Kay? What on earth?" Laury gasped. Then she saw the TV. "Jimmie... " We both started crying and held on to each other. "I don't get it... What did she ever do?"
"She was my friend, Laury," I said, straightening up. "That means... "
"Means what?"
"You guys are next." She looked at me, horrified, and I felt at a loss of what to do.
"Kay? Laury? Are you two alright?" Billie Joe asked, opening my door and coming in with Adrienne, Mike, and Tre.
"Jimmie... Jimmie's..." I started.
"Dead," Laury finished, barely audible.
"Oh my god, Kay, Laury, that's awful," Adrienne said, dropping down to our level and holding onto Laury, who was shaking horribly. I just sat there, in shock.
"Kay..." Billie Joe said, kneeling to my level. "You have to talk. I know what it's like to lose someone. But... not quite like this. You keep everything bottled up. Talk to me, please."
"I can't stay here," I said, shaking my head.
"What the hell are you talking about, Kay? This is your home."
"My family, and then Jimmie... you guys are probably next. I'm not going to endanger your lives. I never would and never will."
"Duh. Being in a different time zone doesn't help much either," I said. "So what are we gonna do for dinner?"
