The Day At The Diner, chapter 1

"V, go tell that couple to settle down. Their arguing is annoying the other customers."

"Yes, Mr. Wallace," I said putting down the huge, dull-grey bin of dirty dishes. I slowly walked over to table #8, trying to figure out what they were arguing about.

"Adrienne, you're mother is NOT staying at my house for the summer," the man said. Ah, the typical mother-in-law fight.

"Billie Joe, 1) it's my house too, and 2) yes, she is."

"Uh, excuse me, but we've had some complaints about the noise...and uh..." I was cut off.

"Sorry, we were just leaving, weren't we Billie?"

"Whatever, I'll be home later," he told his wife.

"Oh no, not the bar again. You'll come home wasted, get violent, and the kids will see you. Do you want Jakob and Joey to see that kind of behavior from their father?"

"Eh...the speech again. Look Adrienne, I'll be back later, okay?"

"Whatever Billie, I just hope that couch is comfy enough for you."

"No, but it is for you." He smiled. She glared and then grabbed her purse, leaving. He, however, sat back down and put his head in his hands.

"I'm really sorry about this...uh..."

"Veronica, or V for short, and it's okay, we have situations like this sometimes."

"Well, Veronica, I'm sorry...fights over little stuff have been happening around the house latey, it's..."

"Frustrating?" I said

"Yeah."

"Look, I've got a break in a couple miutes. Wanna go grab a coffee?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I'd like that," he said getting up. "Oh and by the way I'm Billie Joe."

"I know, I love Green Day." I admitted and he smiled.
