Walk Away (maybe), chapter 1

She woke up and rolled over, looking at him. He was wide-awake. He looked like he had been crying and hadn't gotten much sleep.

"Benji? What's wrong?"
He rolled over onto his side and looked into her eyes. He couldn't believe he had done that to her.
"Dani. I'm so so sorry about last night."
"Oh. That," she said quietly. "Look, Benj, it's ok. It was just an accident."
"No. It was stupid. I was stupid. I just, I just cant control my temper sometimes, and I'm sorry. I would never want to hurt you. I love you."
"Look, Benji, its ok. Really," she said. "Its not like its anything new," she thought.
"No. It's not ok. And I promise I will never do it again."
"Yeah. I've heard that one before." She couldn't say it, but she was thinking it. Instead she looked into his eyes and smiled and said, "ok."

About two hours later Benji had to go to the recording studio to work on the bands new CD, but he hated being away from Dani. So she went with. When Benji had to talk to the producer about his part in one of the songs, Joel went over to talk to Dani.

"Hey."
She looked up at him. "Hey."
She forgot that she had her hoodie sleeves pushed up and he looked down at her arm and saw a big bruise.
"How'd you get that?" he asked, nodding down at her arm.
"Um...I don't know," She said, quickly pulling her sleeves down.
He looked down at her suspiciously and said, "ok. Well are you ok?"
"Yeah. Fine."
"Alright," He said and walked out, as Benji was coming in. she looked up at Benj. He looked pissed. She wanted to run out after Joel or yell for him to come back. She didn't want to be alone with Benj when he was like this.

"Hey Benj. What's wrong?"
"Nothing," he said, sounding mad.
"Ok. Is there anything I can do?"
"No," he said, his voice rising.
"Are you sure?"
"I SAID NO!" he yelled, hitting her, hard, pushing her backward into the wall. She hit and fell to the floor. He looked at her for a second. His eyes started to soften, and he ran over to her.

"Oh my god. Dani are you ok? I am so-"
"Sorry?" she said cutting him off. "Your always sorry. It's the same thing everyday Benji. You hurt me and then say "your sorry" or "you didn't mean to" or "it was an accident" well I'm tired of it. I know you have a lot of stress, but don't take it out on me." Her voice softened "I love you Benji. More then anything. But, I think we should take a break from each other. At least until you calm down, and learn to control your temper."

He looked at her, shocked. He didn't know what to say. "Dani. Please. Don't-don't go. I cant live without you. I need you. I love you. I promise, I will never hurt you again"

"Yeah, Benj. You've said that before. But every time it's the same."
"Dani. I..."
Before he could say anything else she got up and left. He just sat there, watching her leave, not knowing what to do.
"Will you wait for me?" he yelled after her.
She stopped and turned to look at him.
"Will you wait for me?" he repeated.
"I will wait for you forever," she said softly, and walked away. Leaving him sitting there miserable. As she left she silent tears fell down her cheeks, but she made sure, that no one saw just how much this was hurting her.

"Maybe this is wrong. Maybe I should just stay with him," she thought as she walked out of the building into the bright sunlight. She wasn't sure what to do. All she knew was the leaving Benji like this, hurt more then anything. Even more then him hurting her.
