Oh, How Wrong We Were To Think Immortality Meant Never Dying., chapter 3
Gerard walked me all the way back to mine and the girls' apartment. He were walking up the flights of stairs, not talking, just walking silently.
We came to my flat door and I looked up.
"Uh, this is mine..." I said awkwardly.
"Oh. Okay," Gerard said, avoiding my eyes.
There was a silence as we both stood there.
"Well, I guess I'll see you later then," He sighed. He started to walk away and I decided to follow my instincts.
"Wait!" I called.
He turned around.
"D'you...wanna come in, for like, coffee...or something?" I asked lamely.
Surprisingly, he smiled. He walked back over to me and nodded.
I let us in and he followed me into the living room, and I motioned at the sofa.
"Take a seat. You want coffee, yeah?" I asked nervously.
"Actually, I hate coffee," He smiled slightly. I blew upwards, ruffling my fringe.
"So do I. I can't stand the smell either," I said.
He sat down on the sofa and jumped immediatly back up. There was a long moan from the sofa and the lumpy cushions started to move.
"Who the fuck just sat on me?" Leigh asked, sticking her head out.
Gerard smirked and sat on the arm chair opposite. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Gerard.
"So, uhm, do you want anything to drink?" I asked.
"Yeah, actually, I'm in the mood for Vimto," he said. "D'you have any?"
I smiled. "Yeah, my friend Spikey is obsessed with the stuff, so she makes sure we're stalked up no matter what."
I left him with Leigh and wandered slowly through to the kitchen, mulling over the past few days.
My band and I had played a kick-ass show...we'd met Billie Joe Armstrong and Gerard Way, we'd been signed to Adeline....I'd hung out with Gerard.....
As I raked through our overflowing fridge for the Vimto, I thought about it. Why wasn't I freaked out? I mean, they were like celebrities and I was a kid with odd shoes and a wierd-sounding voice. Then again...they weren't celebrities. They were different, of course, and thats why they'd been my idols for a long, long time.
When I walked back through to the living room with two cans of Vimto, there was the same stony silence that had hung in the air since I'd left. I handed Gerard his can and he thanked me. I sat down on Leighs feet and she glared at me.
"I'm going to bed," She huffed, pulling her feet from underneath me. She sniffed and walked over to our room, then slammed the door behind her.
"Uh, whats up with her?" Gerard asked.
"Meh. She has anger issues," I said.
Gerard nodded and then got up slowly. He came and sat beside me and I felt myself blush.
Fuck, why are you blushing? I thought desperately. I always blush, even at the slightest things. I hate my skin. Fucking shitty sensitive crap that is was.
"So...nice place you have here," He said.
I nodded, not knowing what to say. I sipped my Vimto a little too enthusiastically and it went down the wrong hole.
I started breathing and then I snorted and then Vimto came out of my nose. I was still choking, cause half of the Vimto was still clogging up my throat. I couldn't breath after a while. I kinda sat there wondering if I was dying when I felt a huge weight collide with my back.
I fell forward onto the floor and could finally breath again. I still felt the huge weight on my back and thats when I realised Gerard was lying on top of me.
"Thanks," I said gruffly. "I can breath again."
He giggled and rolled over so that he was lying beside me on the floor. We looked at each other and I looked away quickly. I looked back to see him smirking.
I looked up at the roof - or rather, the sky. One good thing about the cheap flat we lived in was that it had a skylight, and at night it was pretty damn beautiful.
"That's pretty damn beautiful," Gerard said my thoughts aloud, breaking the silence.
I nodded.
"It's pretty cool, yeah," I said.
We lay there for a while, saying nothing. I could feel how close he was to me and it made my skin tingle. I could hear his deep breathing and it made my lips quiver.
That was when I noticed it was more than a crush.

I don't know how long Gerard and I lay there, but I didn't care. I enjoyed his company.
"So...it's getting late," I said, breaking the long yet somewhat comfortable silence.
"Oh...yeah. I guess I should go," He sighed. We stood up and I looked at him.
"Do you wanna go for a walk?" He blurted.
Ten minutes later we were walking through some forest somewhere. It was pitch black and still raining, in fact, it was pouring.
"You know," panted Gerard, "You're the first girl I know to not complain about walking in the rain."
I smiled. "Yeah, I kinda like walking in the rain," I said, equally as breathless.
We carried on walking until we came to a clearing. There was an old bench in one corner, under a tree, sheltered. We walked over to it and sat down.
After a few minutes, I was shivering. I had nothing on except a tight long-sleeved shirt and I was freezing.
"You cold?"
I looked up, and nodded.
He unbuttoned his dark leather jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders. He moved closer to me and rested his arm around my waist.
Smiling, I sat there with him in the darkness and watched the rain fall.
