As The Rain Slowly Falls, chapter 1
The darkness flew around me. Soon enough I couldn't see. Where was I? Suddenly I awoken by a loud scream. Whoever it was sounded terrified. I quickly got out of my bed and ran downstairs. Then I saw my best friend in my best friend in my living room, on the floor, crying her eyes out. I ran towards her.
"What's wrong?" I asked her.
She looked up at me with tears down her face. Her eyeliner was smeared across her face where she had whiped her eyes.
"I did something really bad, Tez..." she told me.
"What did you do?" I asked her.
"My parents are always yelling at me and today I got tired of it, so I yelled at them and ran away. I came here because you live alone because your parents abanded you and I am always welcome here like you said," Chelsey told me.
Yeah, it was true. Chelsey's parents abused her and mine abandoned me. It is actually a good thing that when I had to live with my grandparents they had bought a house and then they passed away, so I got the house.
Chelsey has always suggested that we go call the police on her parents and go to an orphanage, so I could be in there, but I always said no. I didn't want to. I always told her that I could live on my own and that I would be ok, but really I was screaming inside. I feel as if I am trapped inside this tunnel with no way out with complete darkness. I guess today is going to change, because I can't have my friend feel this way.
"Okay. I know you really don't want to but can we please call the police now, Tez?" Chelsey asked me.
I thought about it. Then I got the house phone, that doesn't work, and dialed 911.
I told the police all about Chelsey. I told them also where I lived. A few minutes later the police had arrived and asked Chelsey a few questions. Same for me. That day Chelsey and I both where put in the "best" orphanage in this city.
Chelsey's parents where questioned by the police and then put into jail for 5 years for child abuse and they owe Chelsey 13,000 dollars in cash for all the wrong that they have done to her.
It is weird how two nine year olds could live like this. We don't look nine. We look eleven, but we are nine.
In the orphanage that we are, in has schooling for us, so we could learn properly and it has seperate rooms for us, but Chelsey and I asked to share a room, so we have a bunk bed in our room. Chelsey wanted me to have top because she liked bottom better.
The orphanage is okay, but I would rather have a family who cared about me and that is what this orphanage is for. If I ever got picked to leave before Chelsey and she had to stay here I would not go with whoever was adopting me. I would refuse to because I want to get adopted by someone who could take me and my best friend.
One day that actually happened...
