Being Held Hostage, chapter 5
Mike ran until he couldn't run any more. His breath was being stolen from his lungs. He looked around him.
There in front of him not two blocks from where he was standing was a police station.
"Oh god yes!" Mike shouted. He started running even faster. It was hard, being his hands were still tied up. Before he could reach the station a police car pulled up in front of him.
"Can I help you sir?" The police officer asked. "Is there something wrong?"
"Yes! Yes you have to help me!" He shouted. He ran up towards the car and leaned down so he could see the officer.
"What happened?" The officer asked.
"I've been kidnapped. A friend of mine is still in danger, you have to help us!" Mike said firmly. "I know their faces, I know their names, we can catch them!"
The officer leaned over towards the door and opened it.
"Get in," He said soberly.
"I need help untying my hands," Mike started.
"Just get in the car," The officer demanded. Mike didn't argue he got into the car and the officer closed the door. The two drove off away from the station.
"Um...aren't we going to the station?" Mike asked.
"We're not going to the station," The officer said.
"Okay...the next station then."
Dan opened the door to the front passenger seat and climbed in.
"What did you do to her?" Hank asked, a little scared. Dan just looked at him.
The van had been pulled over after Dan had made a phone call to an old friend. The two were waiting for something to come before they took off again.
Mandy was in the back of the van lying on her side. She had been crying ever since Mike had left. She knew she was going to die before he could get help. They would never find her, they guys were going to kill her and chop her body, spreading it around as if it were water. She started to cry more.
Suddenly head lights could be seen coming down the side of the road. Dan and Hank looked out the window.
"He's here."
Mike stared out the front window. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.
There was the black van he wished he would not have to see again.
"What the hell are you doing?" Mike cried out. "That's them, you're leading us right to...oh my fucking god!"
"So you finally figured it out," The officer stated. "I'm sorry. But I am being paid."
He pulled the car over and before Mike could say anything else the officer pushed the door open and knocked Mike out of the car.
"You can't do this!" Mike shouted.
"Sorry." The car pulled back onto the highway and drove off. Mike looked to his side and saw Hank coming towards him.
"You shouldn't have done that," Hank told him. He grabbed Mike by the collar and drug him back towards the van.
"Stop! Let me go!" Mike shouted. He dreaded the sight of the van coming closer and closer.
Hank opened the door and threw Mike back into the van.
"Now you get to see the pain you caused your friend here," Hank said as he closed the door.
Mike slammed his head agains the side of the van.
"NO NO NO NO! I was so close!!!!" Mike shouted.
"Mike?" Mandy whimpered out. Mike had forgotten completely Mandy was right beside him. He looked to her to see what was happening.
"Mandy? What did they do to you?" Mike asked. He looked down to her hand.
"They.....they...." Tears were falling from her eyes. "They took...."
"Oh my god!" Mike saw what Mandy was unable to say. The bastards had cut off one of her fingers.
"It hurts so bad!" Mandy cried. Mike held her in his arms and comforted her.
"God Mandy, I'm so sorry. If I hadn't of run you wouldn't be in this pain." Tears started to fall from his own eyes. How could he be so reckless with Mandy's safety? What would happen if he had tried to escape again? Next time would they kill her? Now he knows these guys mean business.
But he had to find a way to save them both.
