Being Held Hostage, chapter 6
Sarah opened her eyes. She had been sleeping for nearly half a day now. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and got up from the bed.
Alex was still laying down next to where Sarah was. Sarah looked at her sleeping body for a few seconds before quietly leaving the room. Out in the living room Billie and Tre were sleeping on the couches. Sarah felt kinda bad for making them sleep on the couch instead of on the bed. But she had passed out from depression long before they had fallen asleep.
Sarah took a seat at the table near the window. She stared down to the streets below and watched the people go about their day. She couldn't help but think those people could have been her and her friends. Alex, Mandy and her could have been shopping today, or having lunch together talking about the concert just the night before. But that would never happen. Mandy's gone. Sarah believed she would never see her again.
Sarah started to cry when she heard a knock at the door. Reluctantly she walked over to the door and looked out the little peep hole into the hallway. It was one of the workers for the hotel. She then opened the door.
"We have a message for this room. Well it's more of a package," he said. The guy was around her age so she knew it wasn't a trick.
"Thanks," Sarah said quietly and took the package out of his hands. The guy wished her a happy day and walked down the hall. Sarah smile timidly and closed the door.
She took the package to the table and placed it down. Sarak looked at it curiosly. She knew she should wait for the others to get up before she opened it. But there was just something about this package that caught her eye.
Sarah slowly and carefully opened it. She lifted the top off the package and revealed what was inside.
It was a note. But there seemed to be something underneath it. Sarah picked the note up and placed it on the table. She then looked down into the package and saw what was underneath the note.
Sarah screamed.
Mike sat quitely in the back of the van. Mandy had finally fallen asleep. Mike had ripped off part of his shirt and wrapped it around Mandy's bleeding hand. Tears started to form at the base of his eyes just looking at her. If he hadn't of just left her behind she wouldn't have gone through this pain.
A noise from the front of the van took Mike's attention off of Mandy and towards the drivers seat. It seemed as if the two kidnappers were having an arguement.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Hank asked.
"If Mike would have gotten away our whole plan would have fallen apart!" Dan snapped back at him.
"So we take it out on the girl?" Hank asked.
"That was the plan wasn't it? If Mike fucks up we can always use the girl to get to him."
"So what's next. He'll try and get help again you know. What will we resort to now?"
"There's only one thing to do," Dan said.
"Dan no," Hank demanded. "We might be telling them we're gonna kill them but we can't actually do it!"
"We're only really holding Mike hostage. The girl is just a way to get him to coroperate."
"What are you planning on doing?"
"We're gonna give the address for the other members to bring the money. Once they do that we'll release Mike," Dan answered.
"What about Mandy?" Hank asked.
"We have to make sure they never identify us right? We'll hold her for that," Dan answered.
"How long are we gonna hold her, we can't have her forever!" Hank spat at Dan.
"We won't have her at all," Dan said smiling at this accomplice. "Once we release Mike, all we have to do is bury her body somewhere where they'll never find it."
Mike turned back to Mandy. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. They were gonna kill Mandy no matter what! He had to do something, this time putting Mandy's safety in mind.
Mandy started to stir. She opened her eyes and looked up to Mike.
"What's going on?" she asked, there was a scared look on Mike's face.
"Nothing. Nothing at all," Mike said. He couldn't tell her what he had just heard. She already had enough on her mind.
Mandy knew something was up. Mike knew something she didn't and that scared her. She let it go for now, but didn't let it out of her mind.
