One Wish Came True. (Meeting Green Day!), chapter 1
Sat in front of her computer screen, as usual, Jayden was browsing her favourite Green Day websites for any new news on the bands upcoming tours, it was the third time this week she checked for any news but she new that the second the tickets came on sale, she would be the first to ring. Nothing had changed so far on any of the sites except for one. www.greenday.com was Jayden's favourite site, and on the News Bulletin read:
"New Competition, Meet Billie and the guys at there upcoming UK tour!!!"
This wasn't really anything new as she had entered at least 20 of the same competitions in the past and never heard anything else about it, but, as always, she filled in the form, entered her name, address, e-mail address and telephone number and pressed enter secretly hoping that this time that competition might make a difference and her dream just may come true, then realising nothing else had changed Jayden disconnected from the internet and shut down her computer.
As she wandered to the top of the stairs her mobile rang, which was very unusual because nobody ever rang her, nevertheless she looked at her phone and realised that Conner was calling. She answered the phone to Conner shouting at her asking where she was, and reminding her she was late for Band Practice, luckily Conner's house was just round the corner from where she lived so she grabbed her coat and her favourite pair of vans and ran to his house with her guitar. When she arrived the band was already in full swing just without a lead guitarist. As Jayden wandered through the garage door Abby stopped playing and ran straight towards her.
"Late again then Jade I see, lemme guess Billie Joe came round to Visit," she said as she rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Yeah, Something like that."
Shouted Jayden not realising the band had actually stopped playing and had come to greet her but she could see by the look on Connor's face she better start playing, and fast. So she picked up her Guitar and played the intro to the new song that Eleanor had just finished writing. Quickly shuffling back into their places the rest of the band soon joined in and Conner was happily back on the drums.
Everyone knew how good the band was but no one ever seemed to say it, they could play almost anything you put in front of them especially with a lead singer like Abby. About an hour had past before anyone realised Connors mum was almost home, and everyone knew that if you get on the wrong side of her, you were in BIG trouble so as Connor realised it was almost six o'clock and his mum would be home any minute the amps were unplugged, they all said there goodbye's and Jayden grabbed her guitar and set of home, as she ran through Connors back garden, not really looking where she was going Jayden ran straight into Mrs Dewhurst, Connors mum, and knocked a news paper out of her hands,
"Oh my god I'm so sorry Mrs Dewhurst I wasn't looking where I was going and I should have been more careful, here let me get that paper."
Pleaded Jayden just hoping she wasn't having one of her 'Bad Days',
"Child if I was your mother I would have surely taught you to look where you were going and surely to be more polite and stand up straight when you are talking to an adult, and even more so when you are apologising!"
Bellowed Mrs Dewhurst, as she snatched the paper back into her pointed fingers. Jayden lowered her head in defeat as to not make the situation worse,
"And I keep telling you not to have you hair like that, covering your eye like that you'll go bogeyed child, all that black hair makes you look like Satan!"
Knowing there was no point in trying to persuade her that no matter how long she has her hair like that it isn't very likely that you can go bogeyed from it Jayden dragged her feet down the path clutching her guitar wondering why everything seemed to go wrong today.
As she walked through the door she told her mum she was home and wondered, yet again upstairs to make an attempt at relaxing for the night but as she got to the top of the stairs she soon realised from the painful music that her two sisters were in for a change. When they first moved into the house Jayden fell incredibly unlucky when she got the room next to her two sisters who shared a room. As she approached her room the noise from next door got moderately louder to the point where Jayden had to brave getting past the awful poster of 50 Cent topless on her sisters door to tell them to shut up. As she entered their room Becky was jumping around in her underwear while Rachel was straightening her perfectly straight hair.
"Hey Mosher get out of our room," screamed Becky as she ran to put on a dressing gown. Rachel then turned down the music and said, "What do you want Jaydi' you're invading our privacy, yet again."
Jayden tried to ignore the strong smell of perfume and cigarettes and answered,
"OK look IT'S JAYDEN I've lived with you for the whole 15 years of my life, why can't you get it right?. All I was going to ask is that you turn down your so called music so I can hear myself think!
"Well why would you want to do that?"
Asked a puzzled faced Becky,
"And anyway this is real music you just have no taste in music or clothing by the looks of things, why are you wearing clown shoes?"
Challenged Rachel, knowing insulting her sister was never a good idea because Jayden was twice as clever and twice as quick as her two sisters were put together.
"What you're listening to isn't music; it's just a bunch of idiots trying to re-write poetry and have just discovered the fast forward button. And by the way these shoes cost more pounds than you have brain cells so don't insult me!"
Knowing full well Jayden had confused the both of them enough to turn down the music she stormed out of the room and into her own where she could gaze at her Green Day Posters and listen to real music while dozing into a deep sleep.
Being awoken in the morning at Jayden's house was never a pleasant experience; and definitely, not today the first noise of the morning would probably be Becky's phone playing a painful new song, and this morning was no different, still as painful as ever, after that alarm the house was never quiet, if it wasn't Rachel shouting at Becky for stealing her favourite underwear, it would be Becky shouting at Rachel asking where her £11 mascara had gone. Jayden never had to get up the same time as her two sisters, it was usually at least an hour later at about 7:30 when she would sprawl out of bed and into the shower, then get some breakfast, throw all her school books into her bag and set of slowly for school.
As she approached the Bus stop she could clearly see that Abby and Eleanor were waiting for her as usual.
"And yet again you're late."
"Well no surprise there then," groaned Abby and Eleanor in unison, every morning Jayden was late and every morning they both complained about it, however she was not awake enough yet to answer them, all three of them climbed onto the bus and eventually found a seat that they would share between them.
As they arrived at school they could here the bell ringing in the distance and knew yet again that they were late, but they soon met up with Connor and his friends and wondered into form. School went slowly as usual and the only bit Jayden enjoyed about the day was dinner when she could finally talk to her friends and grab some food. But as Jayden, Connor, Eleanor and Abby walked to the dinner hall they could see Becky and Rachel heading straight for them.
"Uh oh lookout Jade looks like their heading straight for you!"
Realizing there was no where to get a quick escape Jayden bit her lip and hoped they wouldn't hurt her to much.
"Hey Jaydi we've been looking for you, we need money for some food and we forgot ours today, well come on give us some money!!"
With all of Becky and Rachel's stupid friends sniggering in the background she knew she better not answer back and reached for her inside blazer pocket, but as she did so she could see one of her sisters friend nudge the other and gesture a 'watch this' look, then he suddenly shouted, "Hey what's your problem Mosher?"
And walked closer to Connor challenging him, Connor was bewildered by this and asked what he was talking about, the boy with the hat on quickly replied, "I saw you giving me that look, what's that look for you aint' gonna give me no look and get away with it like that dirty Mosher."
But Connor never took likely to being called a Dirty Mosher, even though he was no stranger to it and replied, "Oohh look this one's quick witted isn't he, I'd be careful though that might have just been the last brain cell you used on that sentence, I mean it was longer that three words, that has to be a personal record, no?"
At this the chav grabbed hold of Connors shirt and pulled his face inches away from his own. I knew this was going to end badly for Connor so quickly separated the two boys and told them to calm down, but as he put Connor's feet back on the floor and turned away he rapidly swung his right fist straight for Connor's nose and knocked him to the floor. Becky and Rachel were giggling away to each other at this, but Jayden ran straight to Connor and helped him to his feet. There was blood all over Connor's shirt and Blazer, he was holding his nose as to try and stop the bleeding, but as Becky and Rachel's friends tried to run away, Mr Hadcliffe turned the corner onto the corridor and grabbed the culprit into his room, obviously knowing what had happened and, without saying a word, closed the door behind him. Another Scally in the background said to Connor as they were leaving, "Your're in for it now Mosher."
And at this they left us in piece.
We took Connor to the school nurse and she said his nose wasn't broken. But Jayden couldn't apologise enough for what had happened, she was convinced it was her fault and if only she had gone to dinner alone this wouldn't have happened, but Connor knew that eventually it would have happened anyway.
"They've always had it in for me," he said while squinting as the Nurse poked around his nose and eye.
"Well I think it's safe to say you'll have a right shiner there tomorrow son," explained the Nurse, not helping the matter. Jayden knew that after tonight Mrs Dewhurst would really have it in for her.
After school Jayden caught the bus with Abby and Eleanor and left Connor to walk round the corner to his house on his own tonight. When Jayden approached her house she saw that hersisters were in and she knew exactly what to do. She entered the house and slammed the door as hard as she possibly could, stormed up the stairs and straight into her sister's room, then, making sure she looked calm and collected said to her two sisters, "what exactly did you think you were doing today, I don't care how much money you wanted nothing provoked that, your friends are idiots!"
At this Becky and Rachel looked at each other and Rachel said, still with a smug grin on her face.
"What it's not like we planned it or anything."
But at this Becky, being as slow as she is added, "Yea we did we were sat on the field planning it all morning."
Rachel gave Becky a 'Shut your face' gesture even though she knew she had slipped u too badly to take it back, Jayden was a breaking point and cried,
"What?. How could any of you be such bitches, I mean why, why would you physically want to hurt someone like that?. Your just, just."
But in the middle of Jayden's speech, Becky phone started ringing with the same painful ring tone she has as her alarm, Becky dived for the phone but Jayden was quicker, she grabbed the phone and looked who it was. The caller ID came up as Leevi, and Jayden knew by the picture ID it was the same person that punched Connor. Everything Jayden could see was a blur, she could hear the phone ringing in the background, her head was throbbing, her palms were sweaty and she could hear herself breathing deeper. And in one outlet of rage she threw the phone across the room and watched it break apart into tiny pieces.
It took Jayden a few seconds to realise what she had done, and she could see by the look on her sister's faces that she better run, and fast, she threw herself out of the room and into her own, trying to push the door without letting them in but she knew she was no match for them, at this she quickly opened her bedroom window and jumped out of it. Luckily she had accomplished this feat many times before with Conner and knew she would loose them. Jayden carried on running until she reached the next street then stopped for breath, it only dawned on her then that she didn't have time to lock her bedroom door, and that her to sister's could do anything they liked in her room. She could tell on their faces she would regret doing that, and she would pay dearly.
Jayden left her sisters to cool off for a while and tried not to imagine what they had done to her room, wondering back to the house she knew to expect the worse thing possible but there was still a thought in the back of her mind that not even they could be cruel enough to do some of the things she imagined. Walking round the back of the house to see if her sister's were lurking she was relived to find they had gone. But as she walked into her house and up the stairs she could see her door was wide open. As she walk under the door frame Jayden felt her heart fall into the pit of her stomach, looking around the room she could feel her face heating up and her eyes go suddenly blurry and fill with tears.
Over the years Jayden had made a collection of Green Day Posters and cut-outs, her walls were bare and the floor was littered with pictures, all her posters were ripped and torn to the point of them being unfixable, and a one of a kind signed picture Off Billie Joe Armstrong was hanging from her door which had slits up to the middle of the poster. And on her desk was her computer and she knew, at exactly that moment she knew the damage they had done, her pictures and e-mails were open and everything had been deleted, there was nothing left on her computer, not even her background was left on. Jayden, could no longer be angry, she sat on her bed and broke down into floods of tears.
Waking up the next morning was a strange experience; there was no annoying alarm, just the sound of the front door closing, and as she looked at her clock she knew she was late, but she just didn't feel like rushing, she slowly got out of bed and flopped in front of her computer screen, knowing it would take her hours to fix she decided to wait until she got home to fix it. She stuck her school clothes on, decided she wasn't hungry enough for breakfast and wondered up the road.
As she arrived at the bus stop she wasn't surprised to see that Abby and Eleanor had already left for school. As she arrived at school she waited until dinner to speak to anyone and decided to tell Connor, Abby and Eleanor what had happened last night and yet again broke down into tears. Her friend didn't know what to say, they always knew Becky and Rachel were evil but to Jayden this just was beyond belief, they just tried to comfort her in any way possible.
After school they all agreed to come back to her house and help her sort things out. The first thing they had to do was to clear the littered floor of the shredded Billie Joe pictures, filling bin bags with paper. After that was completed there was just the computer left to fix. Luckily all of Jayden's school work was backed up onto disk, just in case the inevitable happened. But she wasn't so lucky with her pictures and websites. It took all four of them combined three hours to make the computer look as though it was actually Jayden's. They managed to restore all the lost pictures, backgrounds and video's from random websites and friends.
"Well it looks like everything is finally back to normal, well except for your posters but I suppose they can be bought again."
Declared Abby finishing with a deep sigh of relief, "well everything except my e-mails I suppose."
Replied Jayden, who was currently wearing the first smile on her face all day, but as she went to close everything down Connor suddenly got an idea.
"Well, everything except revenge."
Abby, Eleanor and Jayden looked at Connor wondering what he plan was, but he already had it all planned out. Over the past few weeks, Jayden will get a series of letters through the post, all saying that she had won an award for most destroyed room and in some cases winning money and prizes. Of course, her sisters being as they are, which was nosey and spiteful, would read one of Jayden's many letters and realise that Jayden was winning money for something they had done. And, just as they had guessed, there plan had worked, Abby, Eleanor and Connor sent many letters to her house, some with Congratulations written on the front of the envelope and sooner rather than later Becky grabbed an envelope and read it out loud, "you have won the 'Biggest rock and roll moment Competition' in rock and roll magazine, you will soon be receiving a cheque for £100. Congratulations!"
Her sisters faces were priceless when they saw a picture of her trashed room in at the bottom of the letter. They didn't notice Eleanor Abby and Connor sniggering in the background. Jayden was just about to brag about her award when there was a knock at the door. Rachel was the first to answer, as it was probably one of her friends anyway. But as she opened the door she realised it definately wasn't one of her friends.
There was a 7ft bodybuilding gorilla of a man stood at the front door with, a black suit and sunglasses on, he was wearing a name tag but the words on it weren't clear enough to make out.
"Does a Jayden live in this household?"
He asked as his voice echoed down the hall, "erm, yes sir, yes she does."
Stuttered Becky obviously terrified by his voice, but as Jayden stepped forward to speak to the man Rachel quickly dived at the door and said, "I am Jayden, what can I do for you sir?"
At this Jayden turned to Connor and whispered, "but this wasn't part of the plan, where you find this one then?"
But Connor looked at Jayden helplessly and she knew then that Connor had nothing to do with this so she ran to the door and pushed Rachel out of the way,
"Sorry I'm Jayden what is it you want?"
Trying to be as polite as possible while saying the the man explained that he was sent by the Greenday.com manager to tell Jayden that she had been sent e-mails by the site telling her that she had won the competition but she had not replied. So he was sent to notify her. But before Jayden could think about what had actually happened she was dragged back by Becky who shouted, "No there has been a mistake, We did that to her room, that was us who trashed it, she took the credit but it should be our money not hers."
But the Doorman ignored her sister and gave Jayden 4 tickets to tonight Green Day concert at the M.E.N. Arena, she had been so busy plotting her revenge she didn't have time to check for their tour dates.
The rest of the day was a Blur to Jayden all that ran through her mind was the fact that she was actually going to meet Green Day. She didn't care what happened to her, she was actually going to meet them and she couldn't believe it. Abby arranged for them all to have their hairs cut and their make-up done. If anyone was going to take the other three tickets it would be Jayden's best friends. Time seemed to go so fast that day that they were almost late for the concert, but Jayden made sure that didn't happen. She didn't speak much most of the day, still being in shock she just flashed her VIP badge to the Security Guard on the door and they sat on four chairs in a corridor just waiting for someone to let them into the dressing room.
Jayden was sat motionless just thinking about this moment, she had the same feeling in her stomach as when she lost it with her sisters. But it was different somehow, she did not feel angry, she was scared. Her head was sweaty, she could hear everything going on in the background, but it was almost like she wasn't there. Her hands and feet felt numb and she couldn't move. Then her breathing became more and more difficult, her vision all of a sudden went blurry, then she blacked out.
As Jayden opened her eyes she had to shield them because of the bright strip shining down on her, for a second, Jayden thought she might be dead, but as everything came more into focus she could she a Security Guard shining a torch into her eyes. She sat up and scanned her surrounding, seeing Connor, Abby and Eleanor in the background made her feel safe, then, a somehow familiar voice from behind her asked, "You know you gave me the fright of my life kid, I came outa' the dressing room and saw you flat out in the corridor, I thought you were dead!"
Jayden soon realised who the voice was, she shot round and saw im, standing above her, looking down onto Jayden, she was speechless, so many times she had dreamed of this moment, meeting her idol, Billie Joe Armstrong, and it was better than she imagined, he was more gorgeous that she had imagined, he was, perfect.
Jayden slowly got to her feet, her mouth wide open just staring at him, Billie laughed at this, "You know you might catch something if you stay like that."
he joked, so Jayden finally came to her senses and went to shake Billie's hand, but he pushed away her hand and gave her a friendly hug, after this Jayden didn't know, or care what she said, she was in heaven.
After the concert and after party they headed for home, nobody said a word, none of them needed to, everything had been said. And at that moment, nothing mattered to Jayden, not school, not her sisters, nothing. But she knew that it had all happened; there was no doubt in her mind. Her wished had come true.
