Wings of The Dark, chapter 2
As I stood there for a moment, giving him my infamous death glare, he stared back giving me the best Bambi eyes he could. After his angelic bue eyes tore away from my dark brown ones and continued to watch the tv, I threw myself onto his lap and laughed as he made an 'oopf' sound at the sudden weight on him, then started singing along to KoRn. After the video was finished and before either Gabe or Marie could ask me anything I ran upstairs to take a shower. After my shower I went to my room to get dressed and do my make-up. As I walked down the stairs I was met with Marie's blue, worried eyes.
"You're a lying fucking bitch, you know that Crowe? You're a lying bitch." Marie told me when it hit the bottom stair, then I noticed the house phone in her hand.
"What have I done now Marie?" I asked, slightly worried, hoping that the mafia hadn't called while I was in the shower giving me another job to do.
"Your motherfucking Don, that's what you've done wrong! You promised us that you were finished being the number one hit man for the fucking mafia." she spat the last word like it was poison. Oh shit was all I could think while Marie handed me the phone and made me promise that this would be the last time and that we would talk about it when Gabriel got home. He was at the gym, again, and wouldn't be back for a few hours.
I called the Don wondering who I would have to kill this time and hoped that it would be an easy target. Unlike last night when the bitch had about fifteen body guards around her at all times and I ended up with a massacre, blood and guts everywhere. That was not fun, especially when I heard poilce sirens about a sreet away. I ran to the nearest window, jumped through it and as I was falling I unfurled my wings catching an updraft as I went. I was born with them, don't ask me how I got them because I don't have a clue. Neither does Gabriel and he has wings too and remembers our mothers pregnancy with me but all he can remember is Mum saying to him that she was going to the hospital to make his new baby sister like him. With a sixteen foot wingspan that are designed to be flown, it's pretty easy to disappear when you want to. Big, black and powerful my wings glided through the night air to home and safety.
After a couple rings the phone finally picked up and I heard the gravelly voice of Antonio, the Don's oldest son.
"Hey Tony it's Crowe. I was told that you called and I was wondering what it was for?" I asked hastily because Tony hates chit chat so I always get straight to the point with him.
"Aah yes, Crowe. We have a new hitman who needs some skill with a gun and he needs someone to show him the way things work on the murder scene as you call it. Think you're up for it?" he answered.
"Whats in it for me?" I asked suspiciously
"You'll be paid, of course."
"Fine, when do I meet him?" I asked with a sigh
"Can you come in right now?"
"I guess. I'll be there in about half an hour." I said, then hung up the phone. I grabbed my car keys and walked out of the door without a word to Marie who had been standing next to the whole time. I headed out of our driveway and headed to the New Jersey Turnpike to drive to Newark and meet this rookie hitman that I had to babysit.
