*Next Day*

*Tré's Point of View*
It turns out that Kia went home yesterday. When the principal came to bring the keys, he asked for her, but I said I had no clue where she had gone. He let me go home too and said that now we have to be completely done with the decorations by next Friday, a week from today. At least we have longer...
After school, I waited for Kia to come. She arrived and sat down in the gym. She looked a little rough today. I looked at her legs once again, only this time seeing a bruise...it wasn't there last time I looked at her.

*My Point of View*
My mom had wondered where I was because I didn't come home until 7:00 last night. I was at Kaylee's. She was helping me calm down. I couldn't stop crying. Every time I tried to think of a way to make my life better so my mom wouldn't hurt me, my idea would backfire, and I would end up being hurt again, either emotionally or physically.
I showed up at the gym and got started with the decorations. The gym was awfully quiet. I wasn't sure why Frank was so quiet. He was barely ever quiet. He would usually be teasing me about something. Until 5:30, everything was silent.

*Monday, Lunch Time*

*My Point of View*
Kaylee and I had just gone out to lunch. When we got back on the campus, I saw Frank looking at me, laughing. I was scared, unable to know what was going to happen next. He made me feel uncomfortable. His friends laughed too. That's when I knew something scary was about to happen.
I walked through the door that divided the lunchroom from outside. I looked up and saw a bucket full of something start to tilt. I couldn't get away in time, and it fell on the top of my head. Chili. Everyone that knows me knows I hate chili. Even Frank. I tried to run into the bathroom but slipped on a puddle of the chili. Again, I tried to run, only this time, successfully.

*Kaylee's Point of View*
Kia ran into the girl's bathroom crying. I didn't run after her. First, I needed to set some things straight. I walked up to Frank and slapped the living hell out of him and walked away. I walked out of the lunchroom and into the hallway. I felt an arm grab hold of me. I turned around.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!" Frank asked me.
"YOU HAVE TO ASK?!"
"YES, IN FACT I DO!"
"WHY WOULD YOU DUMP CHILI ON HER HEAD?! WHAT DID SHE EVER DO TO YOU?! NOTHING! EVER! ALL YOU EVER DID WAS BE MEAN TO HER! SHE NEVER DID ANYTHING TO YOU!"
Frank put his head down. He lifted it back up.
"Ok Kaylee, we're going to drop this conversation. I need to ask you a question."
"What?"
"Why is Ner...I mean Kia so...I don't want to say it this way, but um...melodramatic?"
"She's not melodramatic," I said. "She's just...follow me." I walked into an empty classroom and closed the door.
"What's wrong with her?" he asked.
"NOTHING'S WRONG WITH HER! STOP ASKING ME THAT!" I yelled. "IF ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH ANYBODY, IT'S PROBABLY YOU!"
"WHAT?! WHY ME?!"
"BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW THE PAIN SHE GOES THROUGH! YOU MAKE IT WORSE! YOU ARE SO DAMN BLIND TO NOT SEE THAT HER MOTHER ABUSES HER!!!"

*Tré's Point of View*
I stood in front of Kaylee in astonishment. Kia really was a nice person, how could someone really do that to her? When I was thinking, Kia came to the classroom door, still with chili stains all over, and Kaylee looked at me with disgust and left the room.

*After School*

*Tré's Point of View*
I sat in silence, sitting next to Kia. She never looked up at me, and she still didn't know I knew about her mom. I stared at the clock, 4:25. When I looked down, the principal came in.
"Here are the keys guys, keep up the good work," he said.
He whispered something in Kia's ear. He knew about today, but she wouldn't confess who did it to her. When he was done talking to her, he left the room. I finally decided to speak.
"Um..." was all I got to say.
"What?" she snapped.
"I'm sorry."
"No you aren't," she snapped again.
"Kia, I swear I am."
She looked at me, her eyes glistened.
"What?" I questioned.
"You just called me Kia..." she said rather dumbfounded.
"Yeah, I...I did," I said.
She smiled.
"Can I tell you something?" I asked.
"I suppose..."
"Um...Kaylee told me about your mom..."
"SHE DID WHAT?!"
"No, Kia don't get mad. I really wanted to know why you found a reason to cry about certain things."
"I...." was all she could blurt out before she started to cry, once again.
I hugged her.
"Kia, I'm here. I know you may think I'm seriously like the last person that you want to say that to you, but I am. I'm here."
She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and softly kissed my lips...
