Liberals smoke lettuce too (written by my best friend Ryan), chapter 4

"Okay, well anyways, I have two sons. Jacob and Joey. Jacob is 7 and Joey is 11. 7-11 ha ha! Okay anyways, I guess they're your half-brothers now," he said happily.

"Even if I wouldn't have met them they still would've been my half-brothers you dipstick."
I heard the voice again. It was scratchy and hoarse.

"Did you hear that?" Billie asked.
"No I didn't hear anything," I lied.

"Well anyways," he said as he backed up.
"I also have a wife, Adrienne, but you can call her Adie. So, she's your step-mom. I guess all of the other information about me will have to unravel itself as we spend more time together 'cus I didn't write any of this down and I have the memory of a gerbil," he laughed as we drove out of the parking lot.

"Do we need to stop by your house?" he asked.
"Well, yeah, but I'd like to stop by school first. I want to say bye to some people, plus... don't you need to transfer me?" I asked.

"No, I need to unenroll you. Jacob and Joey get tutored, they don't go to public school," he stated.
"What school do you go to?"

What?! I have to be home schooled?!

"Lessmill Heights," I said quietly.
"Great! I've got to pick up someone there anyways. Mike's orders," he smiled.
"Wonderful," I rolled my eyes and sighed.

We didn't talk anymore but Billie kept glancing over at me every 5 seconds.

*WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE SCHOOL*

We got out and I ran into the office. I checked myself in and walked through the back doors of the office.

"Alright then, I'll just take care of everything up here!" Billie called after me.

First I ran out to the rink to talk to Steven. His hockey team was practicing a new move.

"Hey babe!" He called as he skated towards me.
"Alright guys, take a break!"

"How are you?" He asked.
"Good, but I've got some bad news," I said not looking at him.
"Your mom didn't die did she?" He asked quickly.
"No," I assured him.
"Good 'cus we're gonna need her to do your pretty little head for homecoming," He said happily.

"That's all you care about!"
The voice blurted in again.

"Excuse me?" Steven asked angrily.
"I didn't say anything," I replied, my head was spinning.

"That's what I thought," He said with a satisfied look on his face.
"So what's your bad news?"

"There's not going to be a homecoming. Well, at least not for me. I'm moving to California... with my dad," Steven looked as if he were going to have a heart attack.

"Oh so, your dad is more important than me?" Steven asked stunned.
"No, believe me, he's not. But I'll be home in 3 weeks. On my birthday," I sighed.
"That doesn't matter, I'm not talking about that right now," I said aggravated.

He saw his teammates trying to listen in so he led me to the back behind the bleachers.

"I'm talking about homecoming. What am I going to do now?" He whispered.
"Are you going to ask Alison?" I asked with a sad face.
"No of course not," He assured me.
"I don't know what to tell you Steven. I want to come, I really do. But I won't be able to," I sighed.
"So... what are we going to do?" Steven asked as he hung his head.
"I don't know, but I've got to go. I'll try and call you later," I said silently.

I slipped out from the back of the bleachers and walked towards the door. I stepped out but not before I overheard Steven and his team.

"What were you two doing back there?" One guy asked Steven.
"What do you think?" Steven said as he and all the guys laughed.

Steven tells everyone we've had sex but he said stuff like that, but now I am used to it, so I don't care. I walked up to the 2nd level of my school and turned into Mrs. Peony's class.

"Can I help you Mrs. Rodriguez?" She asked me, her face is always pursed up like she just sucked on a lemon.

"Umm...can I borrow Leslie and Brittany for like just one sec?" I asked her politely. Brittany and Leslie are my two absolute best friends.

"Oh alright, but make it quick," she said sharply
"Hey, girl," Brittany said as we got outside.
"Oh my gosh what's up?" Leslie asked me as I started to cry.
"I...I..." I couldn't say it.

Why is it so much harder to tell them than Steven?

"I'm moving," I burst into tears.
"Where?" Leslie's face went pale.
"Somewhere in California," I whimpered.
"Oh My Gosh! How are you gonna like be able to go to school here?" Brittany asked. She's a little slow.

"She's not. You are like so stupid!" Leslie rolled her eyes at Brittany before turning back tome and hugging me tight.

"Ooooooh right. So who are you moving there with? I mean your mom's in the hospital right?" Brittany said quietly.

"Yeah, ok, make it worse Britt," Leslie said annoyed.

I wiped away my tears and looked up at them.

"I'm going with my dad," I said quietly.
"Excuse me? Your dad? Is he here? Where's he at?! I'm gonna give that son of a," Leslie started for the stairs but I grabbed her and pulled her back.

"You're not gonna do anything to him," I told her.
"So we can't like meet him?" Brittany asked.
"Yeah, well, I guess you could," We linked arms and headed down stairs and into the office.

"Hey, umm... , Billie, I'd like you to meet my two best friends, Leslie and Britt," I pointed them out.
"Nice to meet you," He said with a smile.
"Wow your dad's hot," Britt whispered. Well, actually she just thought she was whispering so he really heard her.

"Holy crap, aren't you the lead singer of that one band?" Leslie gasped.
"Green Day? Yeah are you a fan?," he asked with a bigger smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry did I give that impression?" she said quickly changing her facial expressions.

Billie Joe sort of laughed and then turned to me.

"Well you are now officially unenroll. We've just gotta wait for Ash now," He said.
"Ash... as in Ashelie Pritchard?" I really didn't understand.
"Yeah I guess," Billie was laughing hysterically.
"What's so funny?" Leslie asked sternly.

"It's just that, I used to make fun of Mike because of his last name while we were kids. That's why he changed it to Dirnt also because that's how he used to write down his bass line music...but that's beside the point," Billie explained.

"So he thought Dirnt was better?" I found this funny too.
"Yeah I know," Billie was still laughing.
"You making fun of my dad again?" Ashelie walked over to Billie and punched him playfully in the arm then she turned and saw me. She Froze.

"You," She said.
"Billie when you said surprise, I thought you meant my dad was here too but,... this is NO surprise."

"I'm not psyched about it either," I replied with a sigh.
"Don't speak to me," Ashelie stormed out of the office and got in the front seat of Billie's BMW.

I said goodbye to the girls and walked to the vehicle too. I climbed into the very back.

*Billie's POV*

Well that went well.

"Well that went well," I said to Marlena's friends.
"Yeah, whatever," Leslie sighed and walked out of the office.
"Good luck," Brittany said sweetly.

I bet she's really slow.

"Thanks," I turned and walked out to my BMW.
"Let's go already," Ashelie said as I got into the front seat.
"Ok, but we gotta stop by Lena's house first," I said.
"It's Marlena," Marlena said quietly.
"Oh yeah, right, sorry," I looked at Ashelie and gave her a look that told her not to say anything.

Yep, this is gonna be an interesting ride.

*Marlena's POV*

Everything was quiet for a while, except Ashelie and Billie kept laughing at inside jokes, but I didn't care. I didn't wanna know what they were talking about.

"Turn here," I said when we got to my road.
"I know, I've been here before," Billie smiled.
"When?" I asked curiously.

He's been here before?! Why wasn't I informed of this?!

"Every Christmas, I come by and drop off your present," He said with a blank stare at the road.

"So you'll bring by a present but you can't say hi to your own daughter?"
My head started to hurt and everything was spinning.

"You got a present, anyways!" Ashelie said angrily.
"What are you talking about?" Billie asked her with a strange look.
"Didn't you hear what she just said?" Ashelie was confused.
"I didn't say anything," I gave her a strange look too.
"Okay, whatever," Ashelie rolled her eyes and say quietly until we pulled up to my house.

As soon as we parked I climbed out of the back and ran up to the door. I pulled open my purse and dug around for my key.

"Where is it? Where is it?" I mumbled to myself.
"You okay," Billie asked as if he were worried about me.
"Duh, I just can't find my key. I think I forgot it on my dresser," I rolled my eyes.

"YOU, forget something?" Ashelie laughed.
"No Way!"

I rolled my eyes again and sighed deeply at the thought of my keep.

"Don't worry about it," Billie said, he dug around in his pocket and pulled out a key similar to the one now lying sadly in my room.
"I've got it."

"How did you get a key?" I couldn't believe it.
"Your mom gave it to me when I...I..." I don't know why he had a problem saying it...he's the one who left us.

"Left us?" I asked annoyed.
"Uhh... yeah," Billie frowned.

He walked over to the door and unlocked it. I stormed inside and climbed the stairs to my room. Billie followed close behind but Ashelie waited in the living room. I opened my door and I felt dizzy again. All of a sudden I heard a noise behind me. SLAM! The door had shut and I was guessing Billie was on the other side.

"Sorry about that," I said as I opened it again.
"How'd that happen?" He looked very confused.
"I don't know, but are you coming in or not?" I stared at him blankly.

*Billie's POV*

Man today's been very...strange.

I walked over and sat on Marlena's bed. Her covers were pink and her pillow cases and sheets were yellow. She had matching butterflies hung on her walls, and the actual color of her walls was purple. Her carpet was a light green.

"Uhh... nice room," I tried to say convincingly.

"Thanks I can tell it really came from the heart...Jackass!"
The voice again!

"Did you hear something?" I asked her, hoping I wasn't crazy.
"No," She said.

It wasn't very convincing though because she became very fidgety.

Wow what a cool word...Fidgety!

"Don't you think fidgety is a cool word?" I asked.
"Fidgety? Who's fidgety?" She asked nervously.

Wow what a cool word...Nervously!

"Don't you think nervously is a cool word?" I asked.
"Sure, look I gotta pack so...I'm just gonna pack," She said as she pulled out a purple and blue suitcase.

Blue? Blue! I miss Blue!

"I miss Blue!" I announced.
"That's my guitar."

"Okay, look, if you are going to keep on with your random little outbursts, I'm going to have to ask you to wait down stairs," She said with a strange 'wow, you are crazy' kinda look on her face.

"Kay, I'll just wait with Ash. Call me up if you need me," I said as I walked out the door. She rolled her eyes.

*Marlena's POV*

What a strange, disturbed, little man.

"You mean what a dumb ass!"
The voice was shouting at me.
Oh My Gosh. It can hear my thoughts!

"No Stupid! I am your thoughts!"
Now the voice was laughing.

Go away voice, go away voice, go away voice, go away! *thinking loudly*

"I can't go away... Unless you do that is."
The voice laughed silently.
"By the way, the name's Kayle... not voice."

"Why are you here? Go away," I whispered out loud.

"I'm just here to help."

"Well I don't need it so go away," I was crying 'cus I was scared.

"Oh I think you do need me."
Kayle giggled. She sounded like she was all around me.
"Oh, and just so you can't say I didn't warn you, there will be times when I will take you over completely... well, your body at least. I mean there's very little space inside this body and I'm gonna need some room to stretch."

"Please not now, please not now," I whispered over and over to myself.

The voice was gone and I found myself lying on my bed. A little freaked, I packed all of my stuff into my bag. I got a bpx from my closet and put some more of my "must haves" in it. I grabbed my house key and put it on my key ring for my car. I don't know why I hadn't done that before. I grabbed my suitcase and ran downstairs. Ashelie and Billie were sitting on the couch, laughing at some band called Slipknot on Fuse.

"Okay. I'm ready!" I said over the loud television.
"Oh," Billie jumped off the couch and grabbed my bags, well box too.

I must've really surprised Ashelie because she fell off of the couch and hit the floor. She jumped up and turned off the T.V.

"I'm good, I'm good," she said loudly.
"If you say so," I rolled my eyes and walked to the door. They followed close behind, they being Ashelie and Billie of course.

"I'll put this in my BMW," Billie started toward his vehicle.

"No need," I opened the garage slidy door thingy and there was my blue mustang.
"I'm taking Lily."

"Lily?" Ashelie scoffed.

"Yeah, she's my car, you know, the thing you don't seem to have," I smiled and leaned against Lily.
"And I'm not leaving without her."

"Ok then," Billie walked over to my car and put my boxes behind my seat.
"Did you happen to get Uhh... Lily, for your birthday last year?" Billie stopped to ask me on his way to his BMW.

"Yeah why?" I asked, he is really strange.
"I thought so. I'm glad to see that you got I...got...got one. Your mom...told me that she was...thinking about...it. I'm glad she decided to get it for you," He smiled oddly, well... I guess it was normal for him. Anyways, he jumped in the front seat of his car. Ashelie was already waiting in the passenger's seat. I ran over to the driver's seat of my car and hopped in. I started Lily up she purred like a happy kitten.

Good, I don't have to ride with them!

We drove out of my driveway, we being Billie, Ashelie, and I... well, Ashelie rode. Ha Ha. Then we were on our way to Billie's house.

Next stop, Sunny California!

"Your dad is a real nuisance isn't he?"
Oh great... Kayle.

"Don't say that," Wait, did I just talk to myself?

"What I only said he was a nuisance."
She said with a frown, or... well... I think she did.

"No you said dad... "

"Ahh... a soft spot huh?"
She asked keenly.

"No, just... he's not my dad," I said quietly, I guess to myself?
"Besides, even if he is... you know... wouldn't he be yours too?"

"Is my name on the birth certificate? I don't think so. Besides, you created me, not him.
She said as we turned into a gas station.

"Shut up, I don't want people to like hear you or anything. Just go away," I said quickly.

"Don't you mean you don't want them to hear you?"
