Tre and Kira, chapter 1
"Tre Cool, what do you have brewing in that mind of yours?" She always knew when I was about to pull something. Now if she knew I had the ice in my hand, ready to 'wake her up' with, then she was just a damn miracle worker.
"Kira, don't."
"Don't what? Stop you from putting whatever you got in your hand on me?"
"No, just don't patronize me. It's too early in the morning for any of your..."
"My what?"
"Just get up. Dad wants to leave early." I rolled my eyes, leaving her room; the one that almost looked exactly like mine. I thought guys and girls were supposed to be different? I guess we are; my room is blue, and hers is green, with orange stars. I'm gonna miss my room when I go to college. Wait, I haven't even got out of Junior Year!
"Frank, Kira! Come on! It's already 6! I have to be at that meeting by 7:45 and get you kids to school!" Two more months, I thought to myself. Two more months, and I get my car. Mike and Billie Joe each had a car, but neither one wanted to come pick up their star drummer, hell no.
"When you get it, you're taking me too."
"Not if you decide to take your slow ass time! Now hurry!" She threw her pillow at me as I got it and hurled it back through the threshold. I fixed the collar on my shirt. I didn't want Brandi to see me all mucked up. Shh. I didn't say that. I DIDN'T! No, there was no particular reason I decided to wear my black shirt with the blue star on the chest pocket, with those pants from Hot Topic which make my ass look... I mean which matches my shirt. Yeah, that seems about right.
Finally, she came downstairs. Dressed in black overalls and an orange mesh shirt, she grabbed her backpack, sliding something in the small pocket.
"You know..."
"Will you shut up! I'm expecting a call from Madi!" Her best friend that moved all across the country from her when her dad got shipped off. Dad still didn't like us taking our cells to school. Wait, mine's in my pocket, who am I to judge? Dad pushed some money into my hand.
"I'm dropping you and Kira off at the McDonald's across the street from the school, so get you and her something to eat. Don't blow it Frank." One time I got busted with Mary Jane, and he'll NEVER let it go... and they say I have a problem with grudges? And the car trip begins...
...
While we're on this boring leg of the journey, I might as well introduce myself. Frank Edwin Wright III, but don't call me that, please! Tre Cool will do just fine. I am the prize champion drummer in my band named Green Day. We were Sweet Children, but this name fits us better. Kira is my sister; 16 months younger than me. Anyways, back to the band. It's with my best friends, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Mike Dirnt. Don't worry, Dirnt's not his real last name either. It's Pritchard. I would make fun of him, but my name totally blows. I mean, the third? Billie Joe's the lead singer and guitar, Mike's on bass. Jason White sometimes is backup, with our friend Jon. I couldn't spell his last name to save my life. I think Billie Joe, or Mike one, has a crush on Kira. I don't want them dating her though. It's wierd and altogether icky.
...
Anyways, out of the car, and at the McDonalds. I hand Kira her half of the money, and she runs inside. She's in love with that place, I swear. As alike as we are, we're so different too. She's the tomboyish kind, 5'6 dark brown hair, and mahogany eyes, with that athletic build, though you'd never know it with the way she dresses. Usually in jeans, baseball jerseys, or crazy t-shirts, she looks like a little punky guy. Me, I'm cool and casual. And don't listen to them, I'm not perverted. Okay, maybe a little. But a guy's got skills when he can suck his own, right? Well then I got mad skills. Damn, that's a poser quote. Anyways, she's a little shorter than me, and my hair's a dirty blonde, and I got 'pretty blue eyes' according to Brandi. Brandi is the girl I have a huge crush on; doubtful if she knows I exist. Hey look, there's Billie Joe and Mike... wait... is that Billie Joe's hand on my sister's butt!
So I run up there, and he's just talking to her, as he's "ushering" her in the door. His hand's on her waist, not her butt. Doesn't mean he couldn't have moved it.
"Billie Joe. Mike."
"Tunny." Okay, old nick. Just let it go... inhale... exhale... let it goooo.
"Whatcha doin here?"
"Got... kinda hungry..." In Mike speak, "stoned more than them back in Egyptian times."
"And you're not sharing?" Kira asked it along with me.
"You're not getting any, K."
"Neither will you then." Even as old as 15, she could still be a punk.
"Don't you worry Tunny, we got you hooked up." I watched as they entered the joint, and then watched as Billie Joe supplied my sister. Well, I know where she'll be after school. Now, onto the breakfast menu.... oooh pancakes! So I ordered, got my stuff, and ate my self to a happy little oblivion with tons of butter and maple syrup. Mike sat across from me, with his own version of mine.
"Don't worry about them, Tunny."
"What?"
"Billie Joe and Kira. He'll take good care of her."
"Yeah, like supplying her?" I knew where he was coming from though. I dated his little sister Michelle for a while. Mike was of course, steamed for a time that I would even think about dating his baby sister, but he cooled. After that, we sat down and decided if one of us dated a relative of the other band member's family, you'd better be damn careful, otherwise, we have the chance for a beatdown. The result of me and Michelle? She dumped me; for the football player. Yeah, yeah, everyone had a good laugh at old Tre then. Can't compete with the jocks. Oh well. She'll know what she's lost one of these days. Anyways, time for school to start. Billie Joe and I have chemistry, Kira has history, and Mike has speech. We all had the same lunch, but our classes were all scattered. I really didn't want Kira to go to her 4th period today. English with Billie Joe. She's really smart; smart enough to be in classes with us, and that' s something I've been okay with... but him and my sister? Is something going on? I'm just gonna have to talk to her I guess.
"Kira, don't."
"Don't what? Stop you from putting whatever you got in your hand on me?"
