The Science Assistant, chapter 5

Rain's Perspective...

I haven't slept. I haven't ate. I haven't spoke. I haven't done anything other than play my guitar. My fingers were sore and rough, but I didn't notice.

It was a Tuesday afternoon. I had skipped school for yesterday and today. To go and face my peers would be hard. They would treat me like shit, and make life worse. If that was humanly possible.

I was sitting on my bed just staring off into my imagination, when I suddenly started singing 'Sleep' by Azure Ray.

Fill these spaces up with day
In my room,
You can go, you can stay

I can't sleep
I can't speak to you
I can't sleep

Now these Years locked in my drawer
Ill open to see
Just to be sure.

I can't sleep
I can't speak to you
I can't sleep

All my life, is holding up
Nobody's lost, but
Nobody wins...

In my phase of melody, did I not notice that someone was standing within my doorway, watching and listening to me. When finished, I still didn't notice. Instead, silent tears rolled down my cheeks. I closed my eyes, and let out a quiet sigh.

The weight on my bed shifted and arms wrapped around me and pulled my closer.

"I'm so sorry..."

Frankito's Perspective...

I wonder where Rain is... She hasn't been at school for the past two days. Her dad probably isn't doing to well. If he's alive. It must be rough. I wonder how people could deal with it. I wonder how Billie Joe Delt with it.

After school I hopped into my car and drove to Billie Joe's house. I simply walked in through the front door, just because I know he absolutely loves it when my dad does it.

"BIIIILLLLLLLLIIIEEEE!!!!!" I called into the house in a girlie voice.
"What the hell?" I heard a muffled voice come from up the stairs. I saw Billie Joe appear from the top of the staircase, with an odd look on his face. "Why the hell are you here?" he asked.
"I'm perfectly fabulous! How about you? I just stopped by for some tea and cookies!" I said cheesily with a fake grin plastered on my face.
"Oh how fucking fabulous for you! Now seriously, what do you want?" he asked.
"Advice."
"For what?"
"A girl."
"Ohhhh! Girl troubles, eh?" he said smirking.
"Not exactly..." I replied.
"Then explain," he said obviously getting annoyed.
"Her dad was attacked and is in a coma if not dead. She hasn't been at school and I'm concerned," I said to Billie.
"Oh," he said back to me.
"Yes 'Oh'," He gave me an I-am-not-amused look.
"I would go talk to her. See if theres anything you can do..." Billie said.
"Ok..." I said slowly... "Bye."
I walked out as simply as I came in. I got into my car again and drove to her house.

When I knocked on the front door a very tired woman, I am guessing her mom, opened the door.
"Hello?" she asked wearily.
"Um, Hi... Is Rain here?" I asked uncertainly.
"Yeah, upstairs in her room," she said. She must think I am some freak with me bright red hair...
"Thanks..." I said and walked through.
I walked up the stairs and heard singing. A soft voice, filled with sorrow.

All my life, is holding up
Nobody's lost, but
Nobody wins...

I followed it down the hallway and found Rain singing. Tears were runing down her cheeks. I waited till she finished then walked in.

I'm so sorry...

Finally, the next day, Wensday, Rain was back at school. Though in the classes we had together she barely spoke. I noticed writing on her wrist. It read
[i]Sick of crying, Tired of Trying. Yeah, I'm smiling. But inside, I'm DYING...[i]
I can't help but feel all of her hurt and sorrow.
I may look like my dad, but I have my moms compassion and sympathy.

Rains Perspective...

Finally back at school. Back to being the Science Assistant. Back to my regular life.
Not Even.
The whole day sucked. Even PE. I got my head shoved into a locker. I had soda spilled all over me. Not to mention my team for volleyball was horrible. When someone tried to bump the ball, it ended up hitting them in the face. THey wouldn't even go after the ball! I it would come straight towards them and they would either a) catch it; b) move out of the way; and c) squeal and let it hit them. Though the last one was pretty funny to watch.

But, throughout the whole time, Franky was there for me. When I was ready to drop down dead he was there. Maybe I am really starting to like him.

Not in a friendly sort of way. <3
