Zoe, Her Father, and The Guys, chapter 6

"What about my eyes, then?" I asked, continuing into what Mike reported to me earlier.
"You have beautiful green eyes," Tre said.
"Did Mom have green eyes? You have blue eyes. Was I born with green eyes?" I questioned, curious.
"Mom had brown eyes. You were born with blue eyes," Tre answered.
"Then, why do I have green eyes?" I replied, confused.
"I don't know, sweetheart. My parents didn't have green eyes. But I don't know about your mom's side," Tre answered, a little sad. I think he missed Mom.
"Okay. Whatever," I said, finishing that conversation.

"Mike, did you know my mom?" I asked, leaning forward to face him.
"Yes. She was very pretty and had a 'live life in the moment' kind of attitude. Not exactly like you. She had those deep brown eyes. They were spooky, because when she was mad at Tre for something, they would go pitch black. I wouldn't wanna be Tre when he got her mad," Mike answered softly and looked me in the eyes. I could tell he saw deep down inside me. He had the eyes to show it.
"Billie, did you know my mom?" I questioned once again.
"Yes, just like Mike said. She had a different attitude than you, and she had the brown eyes. They went black. It was cool and weird at the same time. You have no idea how much Tre hurt after he left with us. He never went back. I think he expresses his feelings in a very different way. He acts like a 12 year old just to keep himself happy. He is really happy he gets to have you back. I can tell in his eyes. We can read each other. You will soon be able to do the same. And so will we," he explained.
I just smiled.
We talked all night. Last time I looked, it was about 12:30 P.M.

"Zoe, wake up. First day of school," Tre said, shaking me.
"Okay," I agreed groggily.
I lifted my self out of bed and into the bathroom.

I splashed my face with ice cold water. Then, I looked in the mirror. All my make-up was off. Tre must have cleaned it off.
I finally walked out of the bathroom, and into my closet. I picked out a pair of pants and a simple tank top. The pants were black and this time, no chains. I only had the fender guitar pick wallet chain on it. I didn't play guitar, but I was planning on asking Billie Joe tonight. My tank top was a dark green. It had a pirate skull on it. And by that, I mean it had the skull with a bandanna around it. It had the crossbones and everything. Then it had blue, red, and dark purple flowers below it. Then in the bottom right corner, it had a pirate ship and said "Pirate of the Carribean".

I applied my black eyeliner a little lighter today because it was my first day back to school. I would have to do a lot of hard work to pass. There was only about six months left. I then applied my dark brown eyeshadow, and I left for breakfast.

I entered the kitchen, only to see Mike taking some egg thing out of the fryer.
"Hey Mike. What you making?" I asked, taking a cup to pour some Pepsi in. You have to have a spurt of caffeine in the morning.
"Egg omelettes. What do you want in yours?" he asked, looking at me with caring eyes.
"No offence Mike, but, I don't eat in the morning. Sorry," I said, feeling a little guilty.
"See, now what I was talking about last night? You need to eat," he said, a little guilt ridden. But he was joking, I could tell.
"Well, then Tre will be happy. More for him," I said, regaining my smile.
Mike turned the fryer off and came over and sat next to me. "Zoe, why don't you eat?" Mike asked, concerned.
"Mike, don't worry. I do eat. I just don't eat regular meals like everyone else. I eat when I'm hungry. When I was little, I always ate but gained very little weight. It is just the way I am. I am not throwing up my food or anything. I promise," I assured.
"Okay. I just think Tre should have noticed by now," he said, putting an arm around my shoulder.

Ding Dong

"I'll get it," I said to Mike, hopping off my bar chair and heading to the front door.

I opened it to see Andy, Aaron, Zac, Pete, and Joey standing on the porch.
"Hey guys. Come on in," I said, opening the door wider.
They stepped inside and we sat in the living room.
"Zoe, you ready for school? Get your bike," Pete asked and said.
"Yes, and don't have one," I answered.
"I got pegs. You can ride on them with me," Aaron suggested.
"Okay, let me tell Mike I'm leaving," I said, leaving them for a second.

"Mike, I'm going to school. Tell Tre when he finally wakes up," I said with a nice smile.
"Okay Zo. Bye," he said.

I returned, and we walked out the front door and down the steps. I hopped onto the pegs on Aaron's bike, and we started for school.
"Zoe, I thought Tre was your dad. Who is Mike?" Zac asked.
"Tre is my dad. Mike is bass for Green Day. He was here this morning, making breakfast. I didn't eat though. And Tre wasn't up so I told Mike," I explained.
"Oh," he said, sounding like he felt stupid.
"Hey, Aaron, you think you can give me a ride from school too? At least until I get a bike," I asked sweetly.
"Sure thing, sweety," he returned.
I giggled and blushed a little. Aaron just called me sweety.
We arrived at school, and as soon as we arrived, people were staring at me and Aaron.
"Aaron, why are people staring at you and me?" I whispered in his ear.
"Because you are new, and you are so god damn beautiful," he whispered in return.
I just laughed at his response.
