Untitled by Me, chapter 2

Anna's POV:

"Okay peoples, hello, how was your night? "

There were merely a couple of groans from the class.

"Well excuse me. Why don't we just go straight to class? How many of you have the last song for Ophelia done?"

Quite a few people raised their hands.

"Okay then. "

He grabbed them from everyone who had it, and I felt a small tingly feeling as he grabbed mine.

"Okay, now..."

"Hey Billie?"

He turned around and looked at me.

"I-I don't understand how I got a B- on this assignment."

Billie sighed and gave me a sad look.

"I really didn't want to give you that grade you know, but...Anna, look, you didn't go with the theme of the story, it wasn't creative, and there's just no passion in it. And then there are the countless spelling mistakes. I don't count punctuation mistakes wrong, but spelling's pretty important unless you're just writing for yourself."

I sighed, nodded, and turned back to see Rory's car pulling in behind me.

"Thanks,"

I mumbled this, and then ran into the car, close to tears. The car door slammed shut as I put on my seatbelt. I then turned to see Rory's pale face staring at me as he carefully drove.

"What's wrong?"

"I got a B- on something."

"Lemme see."

I showed him my paper, now a mess of Billie's red pen.

"Anna...look, no offense or anything, but I can see why he gave you a B-, I mean...there are spelling mistakes, go with the storyline, not creative, no passion, and you're lucky he didn't count punctuation mistakes or he would have given you an F."

The light we were now stopped at turned green and he started driving, eyes on the road.

"Well what do you expect me to be, you?"

Rory pulled into a gas station parking lot and stared at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Well you always did well on poetry, and—"

"Anna, I didn't say you weren't creative or passionate, but the piece you wrote isn't."

I sighed and nodded. He gave me a brief hug and pulled away.

"Want me to get you a chocolate bar while I'm paying for the gas?"

"Sure, I'll get it. Have any money?"
He handed me a five-dollar bill. I ran inside the gas station while he filled the tank, then walked in with me.

"Dude, like...where'd you get that chocolate bar? I can never find those anymore."

"On the back shelf."

I couldn't imagine why Rory would want a chocolate bar. He filled up on chocolate after Steven cheated on him, bus since then, he hasn't eaten any at all.
