I Love You, chapter 5
Tre stole the paper underneath Shannen's hand and shoved it into the lawyer's hand.
"So, it's official now right? We are not together anymore? I can leave?" Tre asked all at once.
"Yes Mr. Wright, you are legally separated and you may leave," the lawyer said putting away the papers in her desk.
"Yes! Finally! I'm a free man!"
Tre ran out of the room and quickly made his way out through the big, glass automatic sliding doors into the sunshine. Billie saw him ecstatic and knew that Shannen was now in there alone and broken-hearted. He quickly darted up from his seat and began walking into the office but was soon stopped by seeing Shannen walk out of the office.
"It's over... It's officially... ov... over..." Shannen whimpered quietly.
"Shannen..."
Billie embraced her and hugged her tightly wanting to protect her from anything else that might hurt her. He wanted to be the one who fixes everything and repairs her broken spirit but he knew that she would never be the same.
"Bil... Billie..."
"What?" Billie answered with his eyes closed and still hugging Shannen tightly.
Shannen cried with tears flowing, "It... hurts..."
Billie closed his eyes harder and began embracing her tighter. "I know..."
Shannen sniffled, "Make it go away... Billie... please..."
Billie began to cry even harder, "I... can't..."
Shannen just responded with silence but Billie soon heard crying again. He let go of his tight embrace on her and picked her up in his arms and began walking towards the door. Shannen kept on sobbing into his shirt. They got into the car and Billie was about to drive off until he got a call on his phone. He got out of the car and walked away talking into his phone.
Shannen had stopped crying enough to notice an old man in the back parking lot selling something to a younger man. She stepped out of the car and began slowly walking towards the old man in the trench coat to see what was going on. As she drew closer, she saw the younger man walk away with something long and shiny. Shannen eventually approached the man.
"Hey there, take your pick," the old man said smiling as he opened his trench coat to reveal rows and rows of different kind of drugs.
"Holy shit..." Shannen breathed wiping away the dry tears from her eyes.
"Go ahead, crystal Methamphetamine, cocaine, whatever you want, I'll give it to you for 20 bucks."
Shannen was about to walk away but soon found herself pulling out a 20 dollar bill from her pocket and setting it on the table.
"Meth..." Shannen said not knowing what she was doing.
The old man smiled and set down two long needles filled with the drug. She took the two needles and quickly walked off not saying a word to the man. She got in the car and looked down at what she just bought. She had no idea why she had just bought crystal Methamphetamine from a complete stranger. Billie stepped into the car and looked at her. Shannen quickly put away the needles in her pocket and just looked down.
"Okay, let's get out of here..." Billie said quietly.
He started up the car and sped of from the big building and was soon on the highway. The car ride was spent in complete silence with Shannen grabbing onto the needles inside her pocket still trying to figure out what possibly possessed her to buy them. Soon the car pulled up the driveway and Billie turned off the engine.
"Okay... we're here," Billie said not knowing what else to say.
Shannen wasn't listening because she was too preoccupied with the drug needles in her pocket. She was thinking more about why she had bought it. Maybe it was because she wasn't thinking?
"Shannen!" Billie exclaimed a little louder.
"Huh? Oh! Right, we're here," Shannen replied distracted.
Billie eyed her suspiciously, "Hey... are you okay?"
Shannen smirked a little, "Yea Billie... I just got divorced, I'm fine."
"Sorry, but you shouldn't give shit because I'm the one that helped you and took you in after you got kicked out," Billie responded annoyed.
"Whatever," Shannen said getting out of the car and walking to the house.
"This is how she's handling it, don't interfere Billie, you'll just make it worse," Billie said too himself as he walked to the house after Shannen.
When Shannen got into the house she stormed upstairs and went into the bedroom and slammed the door shut. She sat on the bed and took out the two needles filled with the Methamphetamine. She stared at the long needles and began twisting them around in her fingers. Why are these even here? Why did I buy this? It's stupid and it's not going to solve anything. All this drug does is... kill you...
Shannen kept on repeating those words that were preventing her from using the drug. She kept on repeating the words over and over again but soon they weren't convincing her too not use the meth. It kills you... it kills you... like Tre killed me... killed my spirit... killed my heart...
As the 24 year old said those words, newly developed tears began slowly trickling down her smooth cheeks. She slowly brought up the needle to her arm and held it in the same position until her hands started to shake. I want to feel free... I want everything to go away... all my problems... all the pain...
She pressed down the end of the needle and felt the sharp needle pierce her skin on her forearm. She felt the drug running through her veins. Pulsing through every inch of her body. And it felt so good. She pressed down harder on the end to inject more of the meth into her body. Take me away...
Eventually, Shannen had stopped injecting the drug and had felt the way she wanted to feel. No problems to worry about, no pain to deal with, nothing to worry about. She wanted to feel this way all the time, and never go back to the world of pain, hurt and devastation.
Billie was laying on his bed drinking out of a half empty vodka bottle. He was staring at the ceiling and thinking about Shannen. Why do you always push me away? I try to help you but you seem to always reject me. I love you Shannen and why can't you feel that way about me? I fucking love you and I want you to know that.
Billie finished the vodka bottle and soon passed out on his bed with mind full of thoughts of the one person he wanted more than ever.
"So, it's official now right? We are not together anymore? I can leave?" Tre asked all at once.
