The Good, the Bad, and the Time of Our Lives, chapter 2

At Billie Joe's house...
"Nice house, Billie," I said as I looked around. It was a pretty clean house and humble, too. "Looks like a great place to hang out."
"Thanks. Mike, why don't you show them to the basement?"
"Of course I will."

Liz, Izzy, and I followed Mike. Billie and Tre went into the kitchen to grab some drinks and snacks.
"Go ahead and take a seat," Mike said when we got downstairs. We were in a large room with a TV, a couch and some chairs, two amps, a bass, a guitar, a coffee table, and a drum kit. Izzy and I sat on the couch while Liz took a seat in the chair next to us.
"I'll be right back." Mike ran up the stairs.
"Aren't Tre, Mike, and Billie so cool?" Liz asked when Mike was out of earshot.
"Yeah, really cool," I said.
"They're cooler than any guys I know, and I know a lot of guys," Izzy said.

The three of us laughed. It was true that Izzy was popular with guys outside of school, but she didn't go out with any of them. She said that they would always be her friends whenever one of them asked her out, which was often.
"What's funny?" Tre asked as he came over and sat down. I swear I would've pushed Izzy out of her spot had she not been my best friend just so Tre could sit by me.
"You, Tre, the thought of you makes us all laugh," I said sarcastically.
"Damnit! I wanted the thought of me to turn you all on," Tre said, sounding disappointed.
"Aww, Tre, you make me horny," Mike said. Everybody laughed as Mike smirked.
"Anyways, you girls drink?" Billie asked, holding a couple beers up that he got from upstairs.
"Every once in a while," I said. I don't really drink much beer. I have a good time without it, though it does help.
"Not really," Izzy said, shrugging her shoulders.
"I like beer!" Liz practically yelled. She smiled wildly. Liz can be very crazy at times, though it may not seem like it.

Billie laughed and passed Liz two beers. She took them excitedly. Izzy and I took a beer each.
"Man, you two are party poopers," Tre said.
"We drink a little bit, we just don't over do it like someone I know," I said. Izzy and I looked at Liz. She smiled a manic smile at us and giggled.
"So, what are you guys going to play for us?" Izzy asked Billie, Mike, and Tre.
"Well, m'lady," Mike said before kissing Izzy's hand. She turned a bright pink. "Our band will play for you whatever you would like."
"What about a song you guys wrote?" Liz asked. Izzy and I nodded in agreement with Liz.
"Sure," Billie replied. "Give us a minute or two to set up."
"Okay," I said. This is going to be so fucking awesome!

My excitement must have showed, because Tre said, "Calm down, lil' lady," in a southern way and winked at me, then he got back to looking for his drum sticks. I giggled.
"Uh, Tre?" Billie said, crouching on the floor.
"Yeah?" Tre replied while moving the TV to look behind it.
"I found your sticks," Billie said. He was still crouching and he sounded grossed out.
"Good! Give them here." Tre put out his hands.
"You come and get them, man. I'm not touching them," Billie turned around. He had a questioning look on his face.
"Fine. God, you're lazy," Tre said, then added under his breath, "Asshole."
"Well, I don't think you'd want to touch my sticks if they were covered in... Something," Billie said. When Tre got over there, he was shocked. Well, he sure looked like it.
"What the fuck?" he whispered. "Hey, Mike, go get some gloves."
"Why?" Mike asked him, walking over to their huddle.

Liz, Izzy, and I looked at each other. All three of us stood up from our seats.
"Uh, no, girls," Mike said, standing in front of us. "Heh, it's, uh, quite all right." Mike didn't look all right to me. He was laughing, but he still looked disturbed.
"C'mon! Nothing's too gross for us!" Izzy said while trying to push Mike out of the way. Mike was too strong for her to move him, so she gave up after a few minutes. Mike had acted like he hadn't felt anything at all.
"Mike," Billie said. He was about to tell Mike something, but he stopped. He stood on tip-toes and whispered something in Mike's ear. Mike nodded. Then Billie ran up the stairs two at a time.
"Why won't you let us see?!" Liz yelled. She was struggling to get past Mike, but after a few minutes, she gave up, just like Izzy. Now it was my turn.
I practically tackled Mike.
"Whoa, Suzie!" he said. He fell back for a moment, but he got his balance back in no time. He seemed pretty surprised by how much strength I had.
"Got it!" Billie shouted from the top of the stairs. He slid down the hand rail. He landed on his ass.

Liz, Izzy, and I laughed.
"Shit. Tre, here!" Billie threw a bottle at Tre, who caught it one handed. Tre bent over with the bottle in his hands, and then there were some squirting sounds. I raised an eyebrow at Mike, who wasn't really paying attention to me. He was watching Tre.
"All better," Tre said standing up and turning around. His drumsticks were really shiny.
"Why are you sticks all shiny?" I questioned Tre. He grinned.
"You really want to know?" Tre wiggled his eyebrows.
"Yes!" Liz, Izzy and I said in unison. We all smiled at each other.
"Well, if you ladies insist," Tre said with a sigh. Billie and Mike looked at Tre.
"Okay. Now, Liz, Izzy, Suzie, when a boy gets very excited about something, a girl for example, a snake in his pants rears up. That snake doesn't like to be in pants for a long time, so the boy usually lets it out and--" Tre was cut off.
"I get the picture!" Izzy yelled, covering her ears. She is easily grossed out. Liz had a disturbed look on her face. I smiled.
"There was no need to go into detail, Tre," I said giggling.
"Well, you three insisted," Tre shrugged his shoulders.
"We still want to see play," Liz said. Izzy nodded. She was out of her state of disgust.
"Oh yeah... " Tre said.
"Sorry we got side tracked by Tre's bodily functions," Mike said bashfully.

Billie and Mike grabbed their instruments and the boys got in position to play. They warmed-up for about five minutes, and then they played. It was fucking awesome! The band rocked my socks off. When they finished, Liz, Izzy, and I clapped and screamed as if we were teenies. The guys bowed and blew kisses at us.
"We'll be here all week!" Tre yelled. Everyone laughed.
"That was awesome!" I said, still clapping.
"Yeah, definitely!" Liz said.
"The best thing I've heard since our band!" Izzy said. The three of us laughed, while Billie, Mike, and Tre frowned.
"We were just messing around!" I said, patting Billie on the back.
"Our turn to play!" Izzy yelled. She ran over to the drum set. Tre gave her his sticks, which she accepted, though reluctantly. I grabbed Mike's bass and put it over my head. It was a little heavier and longer than mine, but otherwise, it was great. I strummed the D-string. The bass had a nice vibrant sound.
"Sweet bass," I said, observing it form every other angle.
"Thanks," Mike said.

Liz seemed pretty happy with Billie's guitar. She played each string.
"Sounds good," Liz said, now checking the amp. I decided to do the same.
"Hurry up!" Izzy said. She was pouting and her arms were crossed.
"Hold own, wittle baby," I said, patting her head. I grinned evilly.
"Oh shut up," Izzy said, turning her face away. I went back to my amp and Mike's bass.
"Well," I began. "Let's start with a simple warm-up. Just follow after me." I played some easy rhythms and Liz and Izzy repeated after me.
"Alright," I said. I was quiet for awhile. I wasn't sure what to do next. "What song should we do?" Liz and Izzy thought. We had only written a few, and hadn't officially performed any of them.
"Well," Izzy said, still thinking. "I think we should play them in order of when we wrote them." I thought about it.
"Yeah, that makes sense," Liz said.

I nodded and turned around to see what Mike, Tre, and Billie were doing. They were huddled in a circle talking quietly. Tre glanced at me and smiled, then he went back to his conversation with Billie and Mike.
"Well, let's get started," I said. I stood to the right of the drum set, while Liz stood on the left. Izzy held up her drumsticks, smiling.
"Ready?" she whispered excitedly. Liz and I nodded. Here we go, I thought.
"1, 2- 1, 2, 3, 4!" Izzy said, hitting her sticks together with each number. Our first song was fast, while the second was softer and more serious. The last couple were average; some were soft and fast, others slow and loud. It was the first time we had performed in front of people. In my opinion, it was pretty fun. Tre, Mike, and Billie sat quietly and watched, tapping their feet and banging their head slightly.

When we finished, they cheered.
"That was fucking awesome," Tre said in a voice of awe.
"Not as awesome as you guys, though!" I said.
"Yeah right, you girls were better," Tre giggled. So did I. Liz raised and eyebrow and I stopped smiling.
"Well, anyways... " I said after clearing my throat.
"What now?" Liz asked to the room.
"You want to watch some TV?" Billie asked, grabbing the remote.
"Sure," we all said. Everyone took a seat. Izzy was closest to the TV, and Billie was next to her. Then Liz was next to him, and Mike was on her other side. Tre and I laid on our stomachs on the floor with our heads in out like little kids.

Billie flicked through the channels. There wasn't much on right now. We watched some cartoons for an hour or so, changing the channel when commercials came on.
"I'm bored," Billie said. His eyes were bugging out form staring at the TV. I sat up and saw that everyone looked like this.
"Me, too," Tre said, coming out of his trance.
"What time is it?" Mike asked while stretching.
"Shit! It's 6:57!" Izzy said, looking at her watch.
"We'd better get going," I said. I stood up from my spot and gave a hug to Billie, then Mike, then Tre. Tre wiggled his eyebrows at me when I pulled away and I winked in return.
"You'll come back, ya here?" Mike said, winking. Liz, Izzy, and I said our goodbyes and went upstairs. Then we walked out the door, which I was kind of sad about, though we would see them tomorrow.
