What do we do now? (Sequel to Being Held Hostage), chapter 1

Mandy grabbed the bars of the jail with her hands. They were cold to the touch. She looked around at the faces behind the bar. The one she was facing was the one she never thought she would be visiting.

"How you holding up?" she asked.

Hank just shook his head. He looked her straight in the eyes.

"I'm so sorry about all of this. This is my fault. They have a right to put me in jail," Hank said. He too put his hands on the bars closed to Mandy.

"You don't deserve the death penalty. You did nothing wrong," Mandy said. Hank looked down her neck to the cut he had made. A pain shot through his heart.

"I doubt it."

Mike was facing the other way, watching the clock on the wall. He didn't feel comfortable being here around with criminals, especially the one that put both his life and Mandy's life in danger.

"I won't let them give you the death sentence," Mandy said. She smiled at him. "I never thanked you for saving my life."

"I never thanked you for saving mine."

"I guess we're even then," Mandy said. Her smile grew as their hands slowly got closer. Mike turned around to see what was going on. Once he saw what was happening he quickly went to Mandy and pulled her away.

"I think we should go," Mike said. Mandy just looked at him.

"Yeah you're probably right," she said. She gave Hank one last look before Mike pulled her towards the exit.

Once they were outside, Mike and Mandy headed towards their car.

"What the hell was that?" Mike asked. "The guy tried to kill you!"

"He did not try to kill me and nothing was going on!" Mandy said in her defence. Mike just rolled his eyes as he opened the door to the car for Mandy. She took her seat and Mike closed the door. The two drove off to the motel to get the others.

Once Mandy and Mike reached the hotel they entered to find another note beside the one Mandy had left for Sarah and Alex.

Dear Mandy,

We really need to get home, and you should probably think about back too. We'll be at home if you need us.

Love Sarah and Alex

P.S. Bobbit

Mandy smiled and placed the note down.

"What's Bobbit?" Mike asked with a weird look on his face.

"That's a nickname they gave me," Mandy said with a smile. "I'm guessing they put that in there to let me know this is a real note written by them and not someone else."

"Oh...smart," Mike said.

"Yeah. So I guess this is where we say...good bye," Mandy said. She looked down towards the ground. Even though she had only known Mike personally for a couple days now, it's felt like forever. They've been through so much together.

"Yeah, I oughta get to Billie and Tre. See how they're doing," Mike responded. Mandy lifted her head to look him in the eyes.

"Don't forget about me okay?" Mandy smiled.

"Trust me, it'll be hard to," Mike answered her. The two gave each other a hug before saying good bye. They both walked out of the hotel room. They stood by the door.

"Alright...well....bye," Mandy said.

"I'll be in touch," Mike said. "Bye."

The two went their separate ways.
