Billie sat back down in his seat and just glared at me for what seemed to me like a lifetime or six. The others seemed to look around anxiously, waiting for some sort of conflict between us. I shot the Billie, Mike and Adie a cool glance, showing I wasn't really too bothered. I mean, I knew I could take the little guy on. He was only about 5'6", skinny as hell. I could probably snap the little moron like a twig.

If I felt like it.

Besides that skinny bastard Mike was quite strong. He'd probably jump in like he did earlier. The bastard. If only he had told me earlier.

"So..." started Mike, trying to ease the tension. The atmosphere was charged, I tell you. My hair was like an exclamation mark, standing on end like that.

"Yeah?" I said quietly, not letting my voice do anything stupid. At times like these, I always feel that my voice will fuck up and make me look like a fucking moron. Like this one time back at the hostel, I was trying to square up to this guy called Johnny Prescott. The fat-assed phoney. He kept bugging me all fucking day, asking me about nukes and explosions and if I was gonna die of cancer. He annoyed the hell out of me. So, I told him to go make a mess in his pants somewhere. Only, my voice went all squeaky and crap so he just laughed at me. I got my revenge though. I emptied half a kilo of Jell-O onto his bed. It was funny as fuck.

"Well..." said Sara. This was the first time I has heard her speak. She had the voice of an angel. She really did. The kinda voice that you'd hear in a goddamn movie, like some chick that's left back home as her phoney fuckwit of a husband goes and fights the Nazis. That kinda voice. It was beautiful. To be honest, I was falling for her. I really was.

"I...I'm sorry Billie," I said, just purely to ease the tension. Besides, I thought if I got on his good side, then maybe I'd be able to see more of Sara. And the other guys were quite nice and all. It was just that Billie guy. Something about him gave me the outright creeps.

"Heh, you should be bitch," he said with the typical accompliment of laughter. "I think I'm gonna give you a second chance. I play in a band, do you wanna come and see us perform?"

"Uh, sure. Sounds great! I mighta heard of you, I have a mix tape. What's your bands name?" I gabbled quickly. I figured if I sounded like a fan and got pretty damn friendly with these guys, I could be part of their group and all.

"Green Day," said Mike offhandedly. I opened up my rucksack and scrabbled in the bottom of the bag until I found the list of the songs on the tape.

"Uh, Operation Ivy...Sweet Baby...Crimpshrine...Ne'er Do Wells..." I rhymed off, showing I knew something of the local scene. I never thought I'd say this, but Katie Price saved my ass that day. "Aha! Green Day...'No One Knows'?" I said. I didn't realise that this scrawny little asshole was the singer of one of my favourite songs...besides that Ozzy Osbourne song 'Bark at the Moon.' I love that song.

"Nice. It's a pretty damn good song. Sara's favourite," said Mike. I tried to hide the crimson staining my cheeks. Damn, I fall in love far too easy. I swear to God. She was gorgeous though, I tell you.

"Yeah, it sounds like the bass is crying..." I whispered sullenly. It did sound like it was.

"I wrote that," Billie jumped in with, with Adie simpering pathetically at her musical partner. I was tempted to say something snotty and cutting, but I was too tired and I didn't bother my lazy ass.

"Oh?" I said monosyllabically. I must have sounded like an empty echo, but they didn't seem to notice too much.

"Yeah. Haha. Anyway," Billie said, pulling out a poster from his pocket. "That's the gig. Gilman Street. You know where that is?"

"Yeah, I live on 1012 Camelia Street. It's only a five minute or so walk," I replied.

"Okay, show that at the door. It'll get you in half price. Anyway, nice meeting you Helen." said Mike, stepping off the train. I was so rapt in arguing with Billie and how beautiful Sara was I hadn't noticed that we were nearly at the station. I stepped off into the night air that swirled around me like a morose pool and I let myself slip under into the starry night sky.
