Untitled, chapter 1

So I'm sitting in my kitchen in my house in California, wondering how my life turned around from looking so bleak to me actually having a future I can look forward to. I'm not saying it was easy, but I got there in the end. I mean, it only took what 19 years. You're probably wondering what the hell I'm going on about - well I'll tell you...

I guess it began in the year 1996. I was 18 and had just graduated from high school with highers in, biology, chemistry, physics, maths, English, and of course, my favourite subject, music, and decided to take my expertise overseas and try and make it with my band The Deadly Sins, in America, California to be exact. My mum begged me not to go. "Ashlee, America will ruin you, and you know it..." blah blah blah. I'm really stubborn, I get that from my mum, but she'll never admit it.

Anyway, I went to California, I wanted my own place, but Mum insisted that we stayed with my cousin Andrew (a vet), and worked in his veterinary practice. So we played a few gigs; we totally rocked, if I may say so my self - we play mostly punk music and have known each other since like forever.

There's Matt on bass, me and Ben on guitar (I do vocals too), Eccy on drums (we call him Eccy because his real name is Alexander, and it is shortened to Alex, but it sounds like Alec in Scottish), and of course my little sister and the resident head case Tanya (think Tré Cool, just less pervy) on vocals.

I think the best gig was at a place called the Gilman, it reminded me of home; we have a club just like it in Cockburn (pronounced Co-burn) Street, and we played there as kids. The Deadly Sins were playing in the Gilman one night, but we never knew that a talent scout for Adeline Records was in the audience.

The next week I got a phone call from Adeline when I was working, and Andrew took the call; he said that they wanted to have a meeting to discuss a record deal! As you can probably guess, when we found out, we hit the roof! I don't think we've ever seen Eccy jump so high (its not easy for him to jump high, seeing as he's only just taller than me, and I'm 5'6).

The week after the phone call we went to Adeline's HQ and had a meeting with Rob Cavallo and Billie Joe and Adrienne Armstrong (even though Billie and Adie split, they remained friends for the sake of their children and Adeline). Rob doesn't actually work for Adeline, but does a lot of producing for them. They asked us to perform, so we did; we played our best, our hardest, and we just did what we did best, what we enjoyed.

Music saved all of us in our own way; when I broke from my first boyfriend, who I went out with for 2 years (from the age of 14), I wrote a song. When Eccy's parents split, he wrote, when Matt's brother died, he wrote. Music really helped Tanya, our parents split when we were kids, and Ben, he uses music to stop him from cutting, instead of letting his pain and anger out through cutting, he does it through music, and we all got into playing instruments because of Green Day. We have a lot to thank them for, and now Billie is giving us this chance - even if we don't get the deal, at least we were given a chance. Sentimental moment over, back to the story.

"So you're The Deadly Sins, right? I'm Billie Joe Armstrong, this is my ex-wife Adrienne, and my good friend and producer, Rob Cavallo."

We all shook hands, we played, and then we got down business. I think we were in the conference room for about half an hour; it was the most nerve wracking 30 minutes of our lives. I could feel Tanya and Matt's legs shaking beside mine.

"OH MY FUCKING GOD, WE GOT A RECORD DEAL!!" Tanya screamed beside me, practically deafening me. Billie and Adrienne were just sitting there, laughing at her outburst (Rob had left), but that was nothing compared to Eccy's flying leap. I swear to God I don't think I have ever seen us so happy! The next minute, two guys had burst through the door, probably expecting to see a dead person and someone with a gun, one was shouting, "Where's the fire!", while the other was trying, unsuccessfully, to unhook the fire extinguisher. I was so busy laughing at them that it took a few moments to realise who they were - it was Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt.

Author note: Hey, I need loads of criticism. Tell me where I'm going wrong, what I could do to make it better, etc. This is my first fanfic, so I need as much advice as possible - thanks!
Oh, and P.S., I have written the second part, and it will be up soon if yous like it.
