When I've had a shower and finished packing, I remember my phone! I can't believe I forgot about it. When I turn it on, there are about 20 messages, all from mom and dad. I choose to ignore this. I take out the sim card, and smash up my phone. I can't let them ruin the most magical experience of my life. When the screen is cracked, I chuck the phone out of the window.
Nobodies Point Of View
Downstairs, Billie and Adie are arguing to themselves. "Adie! You heard her yourself that she hates her family, and I bet she would do anything to get away from them! We can't have our own kids, so why not ask? At least we tried, otherwise we'll spend the rest of our lives regretting it!" whispered Billie, furiously.
"Yeah, but what if she doesn't want another set of parents? She's 15, and its only 3 years till she'll be 18! She may agree, but what if her parents find her! Maybe deep down, she loves them!" whispered back Adie. They sighed. It was no use arguing about it, something had to be done... and fast.
Ten minutes later, Billie and Adie were ambling up the stairs to Ana's room. Billie knocked the door gently, and couldn't hear anything. After about two minutes, Adie pushed the door open. Ana lay on her bed crying.
"Ana? Why are you crying, babe? Come on, love, Billie and I need to speak to you," soothed Adie. Ana lifted up her head, and sat up properly. Billie went and sat on her bed, and put his arm around her.
"I have something to tell you..." began Ana...
"What is it, honey?" asked Adie. Ana closed her eyes and sighed painfully. She signed for them to wait in the room, and ran downstairs and into the yard to retrieve her smashed phone.
She opened the back of the phone, and slipped the sim card into it. Fortunately, the phone still worked. Ana charged back up to her room, kicked off her Vans, and sat on the bed, in between Adie and Billie.
Ana opened each of the messages in turn. Billie read each of them first, and gasped. He passed on the phone to Adie, while she was reading, her eyes filled up with tears. As she read it out loud, Ana winced.
'Anastasia Baker-Jones, get your ass to a police station right this instant. Matty and Cass are out looking for you. If you tell anyone about your dad raping you, you're never gonna be a part of our family ever again. Come back now!'
When she had finished reading, all three of them were in tears. Billie was having trouble breathing, as a result of his panic attacks. Adie sighed, and walked over to Billie, and began massaging his neck, gently to relax him. When she had finished, Billie looked at Ana, and shook his head. He leant over and lifted her onto his lap.
"Ani, you are definitely not going back there. In the morning, Adrienne and I will go to the police station with you, and we'll press charges. You don't have to see your mom or dad if you don't want to. The thing is... we want you to come and live with us, as a daughter. Will you give it a thought?" said Billie, and his eyes shined with hope. Ana stared at him and flung her arms around him.
Adie came and joined in. For ten minutes they sat there, arms around each other. When they broke, something dawned on Ana.
"Erm, You don't exactly have permission of my parents to adopt me?" she said. Billie smiled reassuringly.
"Don't worry. When we tell the police about your dad, they're not gonna be happy about it. And he really did rape you, as you're under 16. Don't panic, Anastasia," said Adie.
At the sound of her full name, Ana scowled and turned around to face the wall. Billie turned around, and grabbed her. When she stayed stiff, Billie began tickling her sides. Immediately, Ana started screaming, but Billie carried on. Adie took pity on Ana, and started tickling Billie's feet. Which led to a tickle fight.
Ana's Point Of View
Last night was amazing. I woke up this morning with a massive grin on my face, and felt happier than I ever have before. But before I can feel eternally happy, I need to settle this morning. I ponder this while I laze in my bed, with the hot Californian sun shining on me. After a while, I get bored. I get up and go have a quick shower, then straighten my hair into submission. Just before we left for California, Jakey and Lib had dared me to dye my hair bright green. The colour was dying now. Oh! I bought two packs of that stuff. I'll go dye my hair again.
An hour later I emerge from the bathroom in only my bra, to find Billie sitting on my bed.
"Billie!! You could have waited! You perv!" I screech at him. He smiles and looks down at me. By this time I have put on a t-shirt. Billie grinned and kissed my nose. I kissed him back. But. We kept on kissing. Billie was making groaning noises, it was only then that I stopped... I had just made out with my soon-to-be dad. I feel sick. Billie realised as well. He stared at me, but I averted his gaze. I rushed out of my room and downstairs to Adie.
"Hey babe, had a good sleep?" she asked when I got to the kitchen. She was wearing a red top with a black mini skirt. Just in case you wanted to know. She poured me a bowl of cornflakes, and I dug into them immediately.
"I had a great night, how about you? Fuck Billie? That sort of thing?" I say. Without thinking. Adie stares at me, then bursts out laughing. Phew.
"You're just like Billie sometimes! It's strange that you aren't really Billie's daughter. But still, from four o'clock onwards, you are officially our daughter! I can't wait!" she says, happily, hugging me. I'm so confused. Billie will be my dad, but I kissed him like I did my boyfriend! I need to sort this out.
Four hours later, the three of us are waiting at the police station. Billie and I still aren't talking. I hate this, especially as this is the day that they will become my parents. As I sit in silence, my mom and dad emerge from the door on the right. Matty and Cassy follow, hand in hand. What the...
"Anastasia you little bitch! I can't believe you told. If your dad goes to prison for this, I will disown you!!" screamed Mom. As she yelled, Billie's eyes got bigger and bigger, but with anger. When she had finished, he threw back his head and screamed.
"You're the bitch!! You let your husband rape your daughter!! Don't worry about disowning her, because that's why we were here. To press charges, and to... to... ask you to give her up..." said Billie. Mom looked angry for a moment, then stared at me.
"You really want to go live with them? Leave Matthew and Cassy, us, and go live with these strangers? Well if you go with them, you're never coming back, you understand me?" she started to cry. I didn't feel guilty in the slightest. I was overjoyed! I ran to Adie and Billie, and we had a massive hug. They were both crying, so happy to be able to have a daughter.
But I forgot about Matty. He was crying as well, but with sadness. I let go of Adie, and ran over to him.
"How could you do this? I was SO worried when we couldn't find you at the airport. Cassy said you were at the car already probably, so I went... but you weren't. I've been searching for you everywhere! And now you just want to leave us all, after all us two have been through together! Well that's just fine! As far as I'm concerned, I have only one sister, Cassy," he snarled. I stared at him in shock. He walked out the door, and Cassy followed him.
As Mom and Dad had to stay to sign the papers, I got a chance to tell them my real reason.
"Mom, Dad, I know I'm making you feel real bad now, and I genuinely am sorry. But the thing is, I don't belong in this family. I think I belong with Billie and Adie. And things have even gotten better with Matt and Cassy! With me with you, then things would have stayed the same. So I think me living somewhere else might make things better for everyone!" I say, and tears suddenly start rolling down my pale cheeks.
Mom takes one look at me and walks over and cups my damp, tearstained face. She looked deep into my eyes. "Ani, I'm so sorry. It's my fault why we aren't close. I should have treated you better as a child, its what I can expect from abandoning you. The minute I sign the paper, then you will be Adrienne's daughter. But remember one thing, I will always love you... " she whispered into my ear. And with that, she signed the paper and ran out of the room.
I turn around and look at Billie and Adie. Sorry, Mom and Dad! Adie runs forward and pulls me into her arms, and Billie throws his arms around both of us.
"MOM! DAD! I can finally call you that!" I screech. Adie and Billie practically race each other over to the papers, and Adie gets their first, scrawling her name as fast as she could. Then Billie wrote his name. At last. A new family.
