A Mother's Regret, chapter 2

Joey lifted his head from the steering wheel. He felt a stream of blood running down his face from the top of his head. Raising his left arm he put his hand to where the blood was coming from. He had a gash on his head.

In front of him there were two bright lights blinding him. He used his left hand to shield the lights from his eyes. The lights were blinding, he couldn't see a thing. Everything was moving in slow motion, as if this were only a dream.

Strange sounds were coming from outside his car. He was hearing a females voice calling to him. He looked around and saw no one. The from the lights he saw a white figure coming towards him. He reached out with his left hand to see who it was. The voice was comforting, soothing the pain he was in. He knew then he must be dead. The crash must have killed him and he must be seeing an angel.

Joey looked straight towards his angel and called out to it.

"What's going on?" he asked.

The angel did not answer. He heard the voice grew near.

Then a loud bang shook the side door of his car. The door next time him was being shaken by an unknown source. This scared him, was something trying to get in? Joey started moving, wiggling out of his seat.

"Stay still..." the voice said. Joey looked back over to his angel. "Just stay still."

The loud banging continued. Joey trusted his angel and stayed still. He just watched as the door continued to shake.

Suddenly the door came bursting wide open. Joey jumped at the sight.

"We got the door open!" a man's voice came ringing through Joey's daydream like state. Joey opened his eyes wider to take in what was happening.

The lights in front of him faded until they were out completely. That's when Joey found himself staring straight into the other car. The car he had hit. He didn't understand.

"Hey kid. Give me your hands," the man said. Joey looked over to him. The man was wearing a firefighters jacket with a helmet. Joey just stared at him. "Kid if you want out of here you're gonna have to give me your hands."

Joey did as the firefighter said. The man helped Joey out of the car. Joey took in everything around him.

His car was totalled. He couldn't even believe he had lived through that crash. The car in front of him looked even worse than his. A surging pain went through Joey's body. The man was leading him to an ambulance.

"Hold on there," another voice said from behind them. Joey turned around to see a police officer. "Bring him over here first."

The man did as the officer said and brough Joey over to him. The officer stuck a wierd tube into Joey's mouth as Joey let out a breath of air.

"That's what I thought," the officer said. "You're over the limit. And under age."

Joey's eyes grew wide with fear.

"Sir...what happened."

The officer just motioned for the fire fighter to take Joey to an ambulance. Joey was taken to an amublance sitting right behind the other car. As they passed Joey looked into the car.

There was blood every where. A white cloth was covering what looked like a body from behind the wheel. Joey just closed his eyes in disbelief.

The man placed Joey on one of the beds in the ambulance.

"Son. We're gonna clean you up and get you fixed up. Then you're in the laws hands," the man said.

"What?"

"You think just because you have famous parents you're gonna get off free?"

"How do you know my parents?"

"You're Joey Armstrong are you not? You're license says so," the man said. "You're drunk, driving a car that's not yours....and to top it all off, you've got someone's life on your hands."

Joey looked up into the mans eyes.

"What are you talking about?"

"That girl in the other car."

"What about her?"

"She's dead."
