"Fuck, I Can't Let This Kill Me, Let Go, I Need More Time to Fix This Problem", chapter 3

The Next Afternoon Outside the Hotel

"Hey guys," Mark popped his head out of a cab window, "You ready?"
"Yup, we've checked out and ready to hit the road," Lorie told him.
I don't know how but we managed to fit all our stuff into the cab despite the fact that we were basically sitting on top of each other. Mark said it was only going to be about a 45 minute ride to where we were being dropped off. He didn't want the driver to know where he lived so he gave an address that was about a block away from his house. For some odd reason, the whole car ride I could feel eyes on me, but whenever I looked no one was looking at me. Weird.

At Mark's House

We finished walking down the block with all our stuff and entered Mark's house. We were greeted by his wife, Skye, holding their 6 year old son, Jack. Now I knew I had to give up those feeling I have for Mark. I mean come on watching his son run into his arms and him kiss his wife, I don't want to be the one to come between that.

"Alright, this is Stef, Jenn, Danielle and Lorie," Mark pointed to each of us respectively, "And this is my wife Skye and our son Jack."

We all greeted each other and became fast friends... well maybe not as far as friends but acquaintances at least. We all hung out for about an hour before we hit the road to Oakland. It was going to be a long drive but it was well worth it. I mean come on, we were invited to a party at Billie Joe Armstrong's house, and I would have driven all the way from Mexico.

We all piled into the van. Mark was driving, Skye was in the passenger seat, Jenn, Lorie, and Danielle were in the middle seats and Jack and I got to sit in the far back seats. Jack is a really cool kid and he and I seemed to have bonded over the short time we were together. We put Happy Gilmore in the DVD player and we were off.

An Hour or So Later

"Stef, I'm bored." The little voice squeaked up beside me.
"Me too, it's cause your dad's being mean and shunning us," I joked, "Speaking of our dad, you know something, you look a lot like him."
"But I don't want to be like my dad and shun you, you're rad."

I started laughing so hard at that point. I don't know if it was the fact that he thought I was cool or that I just heard a six year old say rad and diss his dad in the same sentence.

"Aww, guys Jack is so cute." Danielle cooed.
"And just think when he's older he's gonna turn out to be a huge rock star and he's gonna be in an interview and he's gonna mention that he was really inspired by us and Mark and then the interviewer is gonna be like 'oh Waiting for a Warning is awesome but that Mark Hoppus, not so cool,' and then Mark is gonna jump out of the crowd and have a cane and yell out 'hey' and then his false teeth will fall out." Jenn rattled off without taking one breath.
"Wow Jenn you really have that all worked out don't you." Lorie smirked

I tuned out the conversation at that point because I was starting to get sleepy. All I heard was a collection of voices and my name mentioned about 3 times. Suddenly I felt something on my arm. I looked over and there was Jack resting his head on my arm, out like a light. That was the last thing I remembered before I turned my head and fell asleep.

I woke up in a daze. Jack seemed to have just woken up as well.

"Hey, look who's up after 3 hours," Skye's voice rang out.
"Wow has it really been that long?" I questioned.
"Yup, and you only have about ten minutes to wear off the bags under your eyes," Mark laughed.
"Oh shrimp paste!" What, I couldn't swear in front of Jack.

Well I tried to do whatever I could to get rid of the image of sleeping for 3 hours and I guess it sort of worked but just then Mark pulled into the driveway of a beautiful house.

"We're here," Mark said.

Danielle, Jenn, Lorie and I were speechless; I almost forgot to get out of the car. I was just about to go into the house of one of my idols with another of my idols and they invited me. How crazy is that?

We walked up to the front door and there was a big white sign on it that said "Da na na na na na BATMAN!!" At almost the exact same time everyone gave a 'what the fuck?' look at the door and then burst out laughing. Jenn rang the doorbell and we waited.

Billie opened the door and I was immobilized. I couldn't believe that it was really him.

"Hey everybody." Billie looked at me strange and then waved his hand in front of my face, "Is she Okay?" He laughed.

I snapped out of my trance and said hi along with everyone else. Billie showed us in and his house was absolutely beautiful. As we were standing near the doorway, taking off our shoes, the rest of the party congregated over us, then began the introductions.

"I probably don't have to do this but this is my wife Adrienne, Mike, Tré, my kids Joey and Jakob, Mike's daughter Estelle but call her Stella or she'll bite you, I'm not even joking." Billie said pointing to everyone, "And that's all of us since Tré's kids stood us up."

"Ok, well I'm Mark, and you remember my wife Skye, and this is our son Jack, over there is Stef, Danielle, Jenn, and Lorie." Mark pointed to us respectively.

We all said our hello's and made small talk, until suddenly Billie blurted out, "Oh yah, I'm Billie Joe." It went quiet for a few seconds but then the whole room burst out in laughter.
Something tells me this is the start of a very interesting day.
