A Day Of Darkness, chapter 1

One day, a rather nice, bright day, if only it had lasted. A young boy was out and about walking his Labrador with a smile on his face, thinking that nothing in the world could put him down.

He was walking down a small country path, about twenty minutes from his house, when all of a sudden his Labrador ran ahead of him and went into some bushes, he ran after it and went straight threw the bushes; he could see the dog was chasing a rabbit into a forest, he quickly ran after it and was soon in a dark forest, he could see his Labrador sitting down by the rabbit hole, he put him onto a lead and started walking back, but he could not remember the way he had come and soon became lost in the forest, after walking; which seemed to be ages, he came to a person who had their back to him.

"Excuse me, but I am lost, do you know the way out of..." he said.

The man stood up and turned around, with his gun aimed right at the boy, the Labrador knew that the boy was in danger and it quickly leaped at the stranger aiming for the chest, but unfortunately the man was too fast and with one shot from his rifle, the dog fell down onto the floor, the boy realised that this man was going to shoot him, he ran trying to move side to side, encase the man fired at him.

The boy ran for what seemed like hours, until he came to a town, a familiar town, his town, he was not to sure on this part of the town but he had been here once or twice before, he quickly remembered he was meant to be meeting up with his girlfriend, he thought he should go meet up with here, she will have her mobile, and it was far nearer than his house or any of his friend's houses.

He quickly got to the place where they were meeting, he told her everything that had happened, at first she did not believe him, but then he showed her his trousers, where the blood was still dripping slowly down.

"I don't have my phone on me, I needed to recharge it," she said.

"Is your house nearby?" he asked.

"Yes, a few minutes walk from here."

They hurried as fast as they could, but he could not run, he was exhausted, and he still had more to come...
