We'll be Miles appart, chapter 1
Today marks the last day of Term One for me.
No More School for four months, awesome eh?
Mum was planning to take me and my brother to Queensland for our cousin Declans baptism, even though she knows church bores the shit outta me.
Tonight we had to pack out stuff up and get ready for the flight.
Me, Sarah and Lauren were walking down the street to catch our separate busses, I was listening to my Mp3 player and not really paying attention until they waved goodbye to me. My bus stop was across the road from theirs and it began to piss with rain. I looked across to see the bus, then I turned my head to see the people at my bus stop standing up to catch it. The song on my mp3 player switched to "Till the end," By the Living End, and I was compelled to run through oncoming traffic.
The guy next to me had the same idea, he nodded and we took off across the street ignoring the screeching and honking of the cars at us, only focusing on the bus.
We made it across the street and bolted down the road to the bus stop, I skidded, pulled out my card and leapt onto the bus just before the doors shut.
"There's another person behind me." I panted.
The driver smirked and let us on the bus.
While I was packing my bags I got a message from Sarah.
"Hey Laura, how's the packing going?"
"Good, I'm almost done, How'd you know I was packing?" I sent back.
"I just did," she replied.
I folded the rest of my clothes and shoved them in the bag and threw it down the stairs.
I got my Green Day American Idiot bag and put my phone and mp3 player charger
and put them in too.
"Laura!" My mum yelled.
"Yeah?" I yelled back.
"Come downstairs." She yelled.
I silently obeyed and sat down at the kitchen table
"Are you all packed?" She asked.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Good, we've had to make a few alterations for the trip..." Mum said.
"Okay...." I said slowly.
"Firstly, your grandparents and step father will be coming along." She said.
I gritted my teeth...not my step dad...
"And we have to leave tonight." She added.
"...What?" I half gaped.
"Yeah, tonight, get everything ready for the plane...and take a shower," she said.
I rolled my eyes and went back up stairs.
An hour later I was ready, I had my green eyeliner on, a sort of short top and my awesome shorts thingies.
"Are we going or what?" I asked.
"Yes Laura." Mum said.
We walked out side and got in the car ready for our four month holiday in the sun!
"Mum, if the holidays for four months, then why do we leave now?" My older brother Kevin asked.
"Good point," I stated.
"Well, we want to spend as much time they're as possible." Mum said warmly.
"Right, and why might that be?" I asked irritably.
"Well...we just do," Mum said.
I believe we have minds and mouths of our own" I muttered sarcastically.
It was almost eight o'clock and it was beginning to get dark.
The only things I could see now were the lights from the highway.
My friend Mel just changed schools and I felt it was my fault, I felt like absolute shit about it.
are we
We are
Are we?
We are
The waiting unknown...
The rage and love
Story of my life,
The Jesus of suburbia is a lie
I was trying to focus on something else before I burst out crying...it's a good thing that the song skipped.
I wanna be your dominated love slave...
I zoned out of the song by Tré and became more interested in the lines on the road then anything else.
Sooner or later the car came to a halt and we got out with our bags and walked into the terminal.
Mum got our tickets and ushered us into the room where our gate was.
"I thought we had time?" I said.
"Well, we don't." Mum snapped.
I lifted up my hands and rolled my eyes.
"Don't give me that attitude, not now anyway." I didn't bother to reply, I got up and found a vending machine.
I knew a secret with these, ram your foot under it when you're buying something and double or triple comes out, it's awesome.
I ordered a chocolate bar and did my trick, like I thought, two more followed it.
"Score!" I yelled.
People looked at me weirdly and I grinned back at them.
"At least I don't have to eat the shitty plane food now." I said.
The plane arrived a few minutes after I shoved my free chocolates into my bag.
The plane has a nice and easy take off, though something was bugging me, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
"Laura, Laura...OCEAN BITCH!" Kevin yelled.
I jolted awake and slapped his face.
"Only Ritchie can call me ocean bitch, fuck face." I snapped.
He knew I hated to be woken up.
"Yeah yeah whatever, come on, the plane's landed." He replied.
I rolled my eyes and took my stuff with me off the plane.
Mum and Karl, my step dad, were talking loudly over something, obviously fighting...in the middle of the terminal.
"Um, Karl we have to go sometime soon." I said innocently.
He looked at me with a tinge of hate in his eyes, then walked off to the car rental place.
"If he hurts you, you should leave." I said, sticking in my mp3 player.
I wasn't exaggerating, they couldn't go one day without a war of words, and personally, it made me sick!
"I've got the keys." Karl said.
"Good, let's get the fuck out of here." I said angrily on mum's behalf.
"Don't use that language with me." He ordered.
"Good luck getting me to obey." I snapped back.
There was tension in the air before Kevin walked off with his arm around me.
"Save it till we're not in public." He grunted.
The car ride was silent, Karl knew not to piss me off, good thing too.
Once the car stopped outside the hotel and I got my bags and stalked off to my allocated room, each of us had rooms, mum and Karl had to share though.
I unlocked it to find a single bed with a TV infront of it and a foxtell unit under the television.
I lay down on my bed feeling bored.
The remote was next to my bed on the little unit type thingy.
I didn't realize my door was still open until I was face to face with a guy with black and red hair.
"Um...hi?" I said.
"Hey...um...girl...what's your name?" he said.
"None of your business." I said, yeah, sure, he's hot, but why the hell is he here?
"Ooh attitude, I like girls who can fight." He stated.
"You wont like me very much when my foot's half way up your fucking ass!" I snarled.
"Touchy." He stated.
"What do you want?" I asked, now thoroughly pissed at him.
"I wanted to see if you were alive." he said.
"Right..." I answered.
"Why do you care anyway?" I added.
"Cos when a hot girl--" I cut him off.
"Look..Who ever the fuck you are I don't really give a shit, get out of here!" I snapped.
"I'm Jimmy, or The Jesus Of Suburbia." he said proudly.
"Oh you've gotta be kidding me." I sighed.
"What?" he asked.
"You call yourself the real J.O.S?" I asked.
"Well...not me personally, but people around here." he said.
"Good, I'd fucking hurt you if you did." I snapped.
"Now, tell me what's your name?" Jesus asked.
"Once again, you're not getting an answer." I said.
"Well then what am I supposed to say when I'm moaning your name?" He asked, lying next to me on the bed.
"Make up a name," I answered simply.
"Sweet!" he said.
"No," I said.
"I wasn't suggesting that," Jesus said.
"Yeah well I suggest you leave so I can get some rest."
