The day the world ended, chapter 1

Syd's POV

I leaned back in the comfy, black leather seat, fully aware my overprotective mom would freak about my decision. On the other hand, my totally awesome dad would be fine with it.

Perhaps that's why they split up. Difference of opinion.

In my opinion, my dad was the best, no one could change that. Not only was he cool, but he was the father of the one, the only, Billie Joe Armstrong. He was about 9 at the moment. I was 16. He was my stepbrother...but not one I hated, like in Cinderella and stories like that. He was really cool, I was teaching him to play my bass. Maybe he would start his own band when he was older, but for now he was simply Osmosis's biggest fan.

That's my band. Don't know where I got the name. I do lead vocals and bass. Blue does drums. Dani (her name is Danielle, but everyone calls her Dani) does backup guitar and backup vocals. Jane does lead guitar and sometimes does backup vocals. And Lyndsey does keyboard and backup vocals. Trust me...we need backup vocals. They can hit the few low notes, and we cover the flaws in each other's voices.

I shut my eyes lightly and listened to the humming of the tattoo artist as he worked his magic on my upper right arm. A simple heart grenade, Billie gave me the idea. He said he thought it would be really cool. I agreed. I was taking him to the mall later, after I got my tattoo, to reward him for giving me one of the best ideas he'd had in his short lifetime.

He would come up for many more I'm sure. In his band I knew he'd write a majority of the songs. He knew his stuff, he's helped me write some hit songs already.

And at 9 years of age too...simply amazing.
