They never knew., chapter 2
"Cindy! Cindeeeee!" Lachlan yelled. Staring at her retreating back, he knew that he really couldn't fix this, but kept running and yelling nonetheless.
*Cindy's POV*
She could hear his calls, but she didn't stop. All the rumors, the whispers, they were true. She wondered if Neve was the only one. She doubted it. With a renewed sense of anger, she continued running, all the way to the junior high lawn, where she slowed down and sat.
His shocked reaction had confirmed washed away any doubt, so all sadness was replaced by fierce anger. How could he do this to her? Why? What did she do? Braaaannnnng! The first bell of the day sounded. Walking over the manicured green grass of the lawn, she began one of the most interesting days of her life.
*Adelie's POV*
"I'm so frocking cold right now," I said.
"What the hell is a frocking?" Micah asked, teeth chattering.
"Your dad, both of you shut the piss up!" Tre' yelled. He was up to his chin in a plaid scarf, and pissed for no apparent reason.
"Hey, hey, hey guys let's not, like, yell and shit," Mike offered. He was still a little stoned.
I looked at Billie Joe, who was holding back giggles. He moved over from Mike's side, and clamped his hand on mine. I got shivers up my back, and they weren't from the cold. Micah, observing this, moved over by Mike, engaging him in conversation. Of course, Billie was very interested in my ass by this point, so Tre' was kinda left in the middle. Until we heard the yell.
Hearing someone scream, "Indy!" or something like that got our attention. We spun around and faced the high school. When Micah saw who was screaming, her face tightened and she grasped Mike's hand.
Lachlan was one of Micah's many, many ex-boyfriends before she met Mike. One of the more violent ones, as well. Mike snapped to attention, and put his hand protectively around her waist.
When he got closer we realized he was screaming, "Cindy!" This time it was Tre's turn to tighten his face. He had a long standing crush on Cindy, ever since last years talent show. She had gone on stage with her drum set and played The Ramones to the entire school.
Lachlan soon passed us, and we continued walking to school.
*Cindy's POV*
"Shit." I had dropped my books. I was on my way to my locker, then to gym. Tucking my drumsticks into my front pocket, I moped down the hallway, after deciding not to skip. He might be at the park.
Going into the locker room, she looked in the mirror. Her eyeliner was in tracks down her face and her hair was in disarray. She fixed herself up as best as she could, and faced yet another period.
