Buggerfacation, chapter 33

Kat brushed the hair back from her face and pulled her jacket tight around her, shoving her hands into her pockets.
It was dusk, and it was beginning to get cold.
Kat looked over the water of the bay, feeling homesick.
Adelaide, her gorgeous little hometown, was miles and miles away, along with all the people she loved and all the people she cared about.
And all the people that cared for her.
She missed them.
She wished she had never come to California.
It had changed everything so much, and Kat hated it.
She was alone now, in the cold and the dark.
Kat sat down at the nearest bench, staring thoughtfully over the calm water.
This place was nothing like Adelaide.
This place had been nothing but a bitch to her.
She got up, avoiding the urge to throw herself into the water and started her way back to Tre's house.
She had to face Billie Joe eventually, even if at the moment she would rather gauge out her own eyes with an electric carving knife.
She walked very slowly back to Tre's house, despite the cold and the dark.
This was going to be painful.
She reached Tre's driveway and hesitated.
She didn't want it to be hard between her and Billie Joe. She hated it being like this.
She really did like him, even if she couldn't have him.
She sighed and trudged up the driveway, before pushing open the front door and stepping inside.
It was dark, except for the glow of the TV from the living room.
Kat closed the door gently behind her.
She crept forward into the dimly lit hall and glanced into the living room.
Billie Joe was sitting bolt upright on the lounge, his head tilted slightly to the side.
His hair was ruffled, as if he had just been asleep and he was covering his mouth with his hand.
"Kat, you fucking scared me," he sighed, shakily.
"Sorry," Kat said, gently. "I didn't know you'd be up."
"Yeah, well, I am," Billie said, coldly. "I didn't think you'd come back...like after you told me to fuck off."
"Not in the mood Billie Joe," Kat shot back. "Don't piss me off. I am so not in the mood...I don't need to take your shit, right? I've fucking had enough of all of it already."
"Don't walk away from me," Billie snapped, jumping off the sofa and following Kat as she made her way to her room.
"Fuck off, Billie Joe!" yelled Kat, throwing her bedroom door open and storming in, throwing her jacket away.
"No, Kat," Billie said, coldly, slamming the door behind them. "I said I was sorry!"
"You know what, Billie?" Kat said. "That's not enough. That'll never be enough."
"Get over it Kat. He was just a guy," Billie snapped. "Being a slut like you, you could get any guy you wanted, yeah?"
Kat looked shocked and hurt for a second.
"Shit, Kat, no wait, sorry!" said Billie Joe, quickly, covering his mouth.
"Fuck off," Kat said, quickly. "You fucking bitch. Get out!"
"Kat, I really didn't mean that," Billie said, backing towards the door.
"No, shut up," snapped Kat. "You're fucking thinking it!"
Kat let out a disgusted sigh and sat down on her bed.
"I'm not a slut," she added. "You're jealous. You're fucking pathetic."
Billie felt tears prickle behind his eyes.
No! Billie Joe did not cry. He just didn't.
But there he was, fighting back tears as Kat stared down at her shoes, in anger.
"Kat," he said again, holding back the tears.
Kat looked up at him, her blue eyes glassy.
She was crying as well. Aw!
"Billie, don't always make this more complicated than it already is," she said. "Just... "
"Kat..." Billie replied. "I'm not...I know. I know, I'm jealous, right? Whatever, I'm pathetic...I'm not trying to make it hard or anything. I love you, okay? I don't want that...I don't want to make it complicated."
Billie sat on the bed next to Kat as she continued to stare at her shoes, scuffing them on the carpet.
"I don't want it to be this way between us, you know." She shrugged.
"Me either," Billie said.
Kat grinned.
"Because, if it is, I am so not buying your next album," she said.
"Bitch!" laughed Billie, grabbing her pillow and hitting her with it.
Kat squealed as she overbalanced and almost fell off the bed.
Billie caught her just in time, looking into her pretty blue eyes.
"Now, you can't say you weren't asking for that," he smiled.
He leant down and pressed his lips softly against Kat's.
Kat pulled back with a gasp, but Billie Joe bit her bottom lip and pulled her back closer to him.
"We'll call it fair... " Billie Joe whispered. "I'm sorry about Daniel."
"Okay," Kat whispered back, looking back into Billie's green eyes. He was so close.
"Goodnight," Billie Joe said, quietly.
"Night," Kat nodded, grabbing her pillow off of the floor and crawling into bed.
Billie watched her from the door way as she got comfortable.
"Love you Kat," he said.
"You too Billie Joe," came Kat's unexpected answer, as Billie closed the door, smiling to himself.
Still...ehat the hell was going on?
Was this a real relationship?
Billie stayed up all night, wondering to himself, what there was between him and Kat.
He was about to find out.
