So Now What???, chapter 5

I read that and I was slightly heartbroken, but not to the point where I would cry my eyes out. I just walked back out as if nothing ever happened. I walked over to Frankie and gave him a hug, and got a look of astonishment in return.
"You aren't mad at me?"
"Nah, you can't help your orientation right?"
"Right... " he said.

I walked back to my pile of presents and finished opening them until I got to the last one. It was from Trè. The box was the biggest of all of the other ones I had gotten. I opened it to see another wrapped box. I opened that one, along with 2, 6, 8, 11 more until finally I got to an AAA battery box. I opened it to find a 100.00 bill in it. I laughed and gave Trè a hug. I looked aver to where Ava was and noticed she wasn't there. I stood up and walked into her room and saw her digging through her closet.
"What are you looking for sweetheart?" I asked her. She yelped because I scared her.
"Mommy, get out!"
"Why?"
"Because!" I walked out and heard the sound of tape and crinkling paper. She walked out with a poorly wrapped gift and contently walked downstairs. I followed her and sat down on the floor again.
"Here mommy, I made this for you at pre-school!" she said excitedly.

I took it and there was a scrapbook looking thing. I went through it and saw pictures of my childhood when I was younger at soccer games; I used to play soccer in Ohio and band practices with Nibs, Kriss, and Mona, and it slowly got to the point where I was holding Ava and kissing Sam. Finally the last picture was one from last summer when my mom, dad, Joey, Jake, Ava, and I were at the beach and some random person took a picture for us. I felt a tear trickle down my cheek remembering these times.
"Mommy, what's wrong? You don't like it?"
"No baby, I love it!" I said and gave her a hug.
"Then why are you crying?"
"Because, when you get older, you cry when you are happy."
"That doesn't make sense." She exclaimed dramatically. She is such a drama queen; she got that from Rodger.
"You'll understand where you're older."
"Otay." I looked outside and noticed it was snowing.

"Since when does it snow in Oakland?" I thought out loud.
"Since I went and bought tons of flour and sugar, mixed it up, put a fan on the roof, and put the bag there," my dad muttered to me. Everyone ran outside to play in the "Snow". My dad got out the hose and got the "snow" wet so it would be pack able. We made snowmen, had a snowball fight and much more. I hit Bono in the face with a snowball and now it is all red, it was great. After a while the U2 guys and Nibs had to go home, along with everyone but Mike. Stella went with Annie. I suddenly realized that I felt kind of sick.
"Hey guys, we're going to the zoo to see the Christmas lights they have there, you want to come?" my mom asked.
"No, I don't feel good all of a sudden."
"Ok, Mike, are you coming?"
"No, I'll just stay here."
"You aren't going home?"
"No. I'll hang out here with Rebyl."

"Okay, if you're sure." Finally, I'm alone with him. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I have a crush on Mike. Weird I know. But I really do. I watched as they put Jake and Ava's coats on and walked out the door. Things between Mike and I weren't the least bit awkward. We didn't really talk but it was still comfortable. About 2 minutes had past until we both sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. I had this urge to just lean against Mike, but that would be plain awkward. We were just sitting there, watching MAD TV in complete silence when I felt his arm snaking around my waist. I felt myself flinch before leaning my head on his shoulder. This is going kind of fast, and Mike is really old for me, but at that moment I didn't care. Kris's Grandparents were 18 years apart and they're still going strong, who says Mike and I can't...hmmm...I looked up at him and he looked down and crashed his lips against mine. We finally parted after about 2 minutes.
"I'm sorry, oh god you're my best friends daughter!" Mike cried.

*Mike's POV*
I told myself I wouldn't let my hormones get the best of me, but here I am kissing Rebyl! I really like her, but she is half my age and my best friend's daughter. Finally when we parted I talked to her.
"I'm sorry, oh god you're my best friend's daughter!" I yelled.
"Don't worry about it," she told me. I nodded my head and got into a comfier position on the couch and Rebyl leaned her head on my shoulder. I put my arm around her and we watched some guy who had too much coffee attack the coffee shop. I heard Rebyl giggle as a man yelled at the coffee high man for drinking his coffee.

[i]I'd do anything, just to hold you in my arms, try to make you laugh, somehow I can't put you in the past
