Starved to death in the Land of Plenty, chapter 1

"We'll carry on!"

The last words left Gerard's mouth and the song came to a close. He slumped to his knees as the 'The Black Parade' marched on to lead a new soul to cross over.

Dear reader, my name is Taryn Way. I am one of four Way siblings and the youngest. It goes Gerard, Mikey, Jimmy then little old me at the end. Always pushed to the side by others but cherished by my brothers. God bless them. Well all of them exept Jimmy. None of us have herd from him for a couple of years now. He vanished and now me and my brothers are here, always marching with 'The Black Parade'.

Let me tell you how this happened.

-Flashback 3 years ago-

-Mikeys POV-

I rolled over. The ground was hard and un-comfortable. I groanded as I sat up. "Where am I?" I mumbled looking around. The air was full of ash and the remains of many a torched buildings layed as far as the eye could see.

My eyes widened at the sight. "What the....", I was cut off by the moans of my Little sister. "Taryn!" I said springing up. I almost instantly fell back to the ground as a sharp pain rushed up my back, it felt as if I had fallen off of a building. Though I looked fine although my black jeans were pretty damaged and my t-shirt was ripped in two places. I fought the pain as I made my way over to Taryn. Her eyes were shut and there was blood all over her hands and arms. "Taryn no!" I said pulling her up next to me. I sat there with her in my arms. "She can't die, not now, not at 11," I cried into her soft black hair. We sat there for what seemed like hours. The hope was draining from me and fast. I gripped her tightly and kissed her cheek. "Seeya Taryn," I said laying her onto the ground. As I adjusted her hands to be crossed across the front of her shirt, Taryn let out a piercing scream and her eyes snapped open.

"It hurts!" she yelled squirming around and grasping her wrists, "Oh god! aarrgghhh!"
I started freaking out and tried to calm my sister. "Taryn it's ok, it's ok!" I said pulling her into a hug.
"Mikey it hurts!" she screamed over and over into my shoulder.
I looked down at my shirt. A pool of blood started to form. "Taryn" I yelled over her screaming and clutched her wrists. There was no cuts or slits but blood continued to pour from nowhere.
She looked at me, her deep green eyes filled with fear, pain and tears. "Mikey..." Taryn murmered, "Make it stop, please." I started to cry further and hugged her.

It killed me that I couldn't help her but there was nothing I could do. We where in the middle of nowhere and we were the only to souls around. She screamed for what seemed like days though it was all over in a matter of minutes. The stench of blood was un-forgetable. Taryn let out one last piercing scream and the bleeding stopped, just like that. As if someone had turned off a tap.She held her left wrist up at eye level. not a scratch was left though alot of dried blood.

I looked at my sister, she knelt in the black dirt with me in this un-known world.
"Mikey where are we?" Taryn said meekly through the tears.
"I dunno" I said sitting with my legs crossed, "Are you ok?"
She shuffled from my side to infront of me. "I'm...." she said in dis-belief, "Fine, no pain or anything."
I was in dis-belief myself. "Do you think you will be alright to stand?" I asked standing up. The pain I had before had gone, as if I never had suffered it.
"What's wrong?" Taryn asked standing up too, "You look confused."
"I am a little," I said putting my arm around her shoulders and led her over to a rather dead looking tree.
She walked from under my arm and climbed the tree's old, tired limbs. "Do you think we will ever see Gerard, Jimmy or any of the guys again?" she asked me as she layed on branch.
"I dunno Taryn," I slumped at the base of the tree, "Hopefully." She sighed in agreement and slowly drifted off to sleep. I smiled. "I'm glad your here Taryn." Then the sleep took over me aswell.
