Starved to death in the Land of Plenty, chapter 4

(Gerard's POV)

Thunder rolled over and over again through the dark coloured clouds. I was awoken by it's loud bangs. I rubbed my eyes and stood up. It was still 'night' and everyone was still asleep. I wrapped my arms around me as I started trudging along the rubbish strawn ground. A plane flew over head, it's engine screamed as it fourght through the harsh winds. A long sigh escaped me as I left the path. Everywhere I looked there was a single black crow. As if It was Following me. "Don't be stupid Gerard," I told myself
.
After an hour of silent walking I came across a rather old looking sign.

House of Wolves, A bar full of Drink, Women and Plesure. 1 mile east

I stared at the mouldy sign post for a few minutes, deep in thought. A flutter of wings interupted me as a large crow landed on the sign.

The look in it's eyes screamed, 'Go on you know you want to'.

I frowned at the bird but headed east any way.

After another Hour of walking I arrived at the 'House of Wolves'. It was a rather old looking house. It had a stone path which was lined with staues of wolves mauling maidens and children. The windows were boarded up and smashed. I was having second thourghts as I stepped onto the doorstep.

The plaque which was nailed to the oak door read...

House of Wolves, enjoy your stay

I used the large door-knocker to notify the tenants of my arrival.

A rather striking woman answered wearing a deep green corset, black fishnets, a pair of lacey cream and green undergarmets and a beautiful Fox masqurade mask. "What can I do you for sweety?" She asked leaning against the door way.

"I'd like a drink," I said blankly, seemed like a stupid question to ask I thourght.

"Sure," she said leading me in, "But you'll have to wear this," she added handing me a kind of black 'Zorro' mask.

"Okay," I said taking it from her and slipping it on.

We walked through the house. It's walls were crimson and there were alot of rooms with numbers. Another corridor, another set of doors. She next led me down a flight of stairs and into a smokey, dim lit bar.

"Enjoy yourself," she said tickeling my chin.

"I will thankyou" I said and she turned away, heading towards a rather old looking chap in a blue mask.

I sat at the bar and looked around. It was a rather vintage looking room.

"What can I getya?" the barkeep asked.

"I'll have a Vodka" I said slouching over the bar.

"One vodka," the barkeep said slamming a glass on the bar and filling it with liquer.

"Just leave the bottle," I added as the bar keep put the cap back on the bottle.

"Sure," he said setting it down.

I skulled the shot and slammed the glass back down sighing.

A band walked up on stage and started to play. The lead singer wore a gold and red mask whle the others didn't wear any.

I sensed someone sit on the stool to the left of me.

"Hey Newbie," they said in a rather intoxicating voice, "Looking for a good time?"

I turned to face them. It was a woman. She was dressed in a rather fetching red dress and a large black, feathered hair garment. I stared into her green eyes through her black and red cat masquerade mask. Her red lips formed a cheeky smile and her soft blonde hair shined in the glow of the coloured lights strung up around the roof.

"I'm fine thank you," I said turning back to my vodka.

"You sure?" she said standing up and ruffling my hair.

I smiled at her and shook my hair back into place.

"Well okay but If you change your mind you can find me in room 732."

"Thank you," I said raising my glass up.

"Cheers," we said in unision and she left me to my liqueor.

What felt like hours passed and I hadn't drunk alot of my vodka. Her words played over and over in my head, Well okay but If you change your mind you can find me in room 732.

I shook my head, "No, no I'm not going to go, no!" but the urge took over. I paid the barkeep for the drinks and headed out of the bar. I took two flights of stairs until I found the 7 block. I quickly paced up the corridor looking for room 732.

"Aha!" I said stopping outside a rather large oak wood door. I knocked 3 times. Footsteps of those red hees clopped along a wooden floor and the door opened.

"Oh hey newbie," she giggled and let me in.

"Call me Ger-" She looked at me suspicously as I stopped talking, "Gerard," I finished slowly. God, why did I use my real name?

"Well Gerard," she said sitting down on the crimson sheets of a four poster bed, "I'm Magentia."
