An Alchemist's Life For Me, chapter 1

"Haha, I could so beat that, Al!" laughed Ed, kicking the small alchemy-made toy over. He clapped his hands together and placed them on the stone, transmuting the stone into a baby-sized rocking horse. Ed stood back to admire it. "Now that's a toy, Al."

Al frowned and clapped his hands together, placing them on Ed's creation. Small patterns formed around the horse, turning it from an ugly piece of stone resembling a rocking horse into a beautiful child's toy. Rose smiled, rocking her baby while the brother's competed, then finally intervened.

"I think my baby likes it how it is now," she said, placing the baby ontop of it and helping it play on the horse. Ed glared at Al but smiled at Rose and the baby.

Me and Winry watched under a tree that was a few yards away. Winry was doing some work on my automail hand. One of the fingers had stopped working completely.

"How'd you bust the hand anyway?" she asked as she poked it with a screwdriver.

"Me and Ed were sparring. I must've hit his automail at an awkward angle," Winry sighed, shaking her head.

"What is with alchemist's and fighting?" She unscrewed the covers, took them off and then got ready to take the hand off. "You ready?" she asked. I took a breath and nodded. She pulled the hand sharply, removing the hand from my wrist. It stung as the automail was detatched from my nerves. She smiled once it was off. "Wasn't that bad, was it?" I glared at her and cradled the metal stump at the end of my arm.

"Sadistic machine freak," I muttered.

"Irresponsible alchemy freak," she retorted. I looked over at the brothers who had began competing with alchemy again. I dug out a piece of chalk and drew a small transmutation circle. Then i touched it with my left hand, causing the earth to surge up under the brothers knocking them over.

Boys..... I thought, shaking me head.
