Slap In The Face, chapter 17
I jumped in my car and drove down to the airport trying to squash the butterflies down into my stomach. I tried to convince myself it was the anticipation of seeing an old friends but a nagging voice in my head kept saying "Just you and him....... All alone for a month... Together" I pushed the thoughts to the furthest past of my mind and entered the airport looking around for him to walked out of the corridor.
I waited for about an hour because for obvious reasons he had to be the last off the plane. Then I saw him walking towards me dressed in a pair of old jeans and a ramones t-shirt his hair was messed and he had sleep in his eyes. I grinned and ran towards him, we hugged and I kissed his cheek "Ive missed you" he beamed
"Well duh of course you did" I replied he chuckled and we walked to my car.
"So when are Mike and Tre getting here" he asked quietly once we had arrived
"There not coming.... I thought you knew........ Hang on why don't you know" I replied worriedly
"Ohh nothing silly me guess it's the jet lag" he said
"Bullshit BJ, what the fuck is going on!" I exclaimed
"Dia I just flew for 32 hours and it's a long and complicated story I wanna sleep" he sighed
"Fine I gotta go meet Chris and Sarah to tie up my last article for the next month anyway so you sleep but don't think this convo is over mister" I replied
"I know I know" he yawned heading to his bedroom
"Night BJ" I said blowing him a kiss and heading out the door
I reached Café Latte at about 8:30 to see Chris and Sarah sitting at a booth looking over a bunch of papers Sarah worked at the magazine as a layout designer it worked for her since she could do most of the work at home, while looking after the twins.
I still found it hard to believe Sarah the party girl no boyfriend for more the 2 months, now was married with children and a regular soccer mom.
"Hey sexy girl" she called out
"Whats going on people" I asked as I sat down
Chris looked up at me and smiled "This article is amazing Lydia wonderful I couldn't have asked for more" Chris had an awful crush on me, and it killed me to know it since I didn't want to destroy the strong friendship we had created over the years.
"You say that every week Chris" I replied modestly
"Yeah what about my bloody layouts, I do way more then her and where's my gaga eh chris" she whined
Chris went extremely red in the face and me and Sarah laughed 'welll I" he mumbled
"I hate you guys" he replied
"No you don't you love us" I said kissing his cheek
"Well I got to go, BJ's waiting for me I'll talk to you guys later"
When I got home Billie was sitting up on the couch watching TV
"I thought you'd still be sleeping" I said sitting down next to him
"Nah couldn't sleep I'm so excited to be here, besides Australian TV is a trip" he replied
I chuckled and snuggled up against him "Well I'm just happy you here but I still wanna know whats going on"
"Tomorrow Lyd let me forget for one night" he sighed
"Ok I'm sorry you'll talk about it in your own time".
The next day
We both got up late so we decided to just have some coffee and toast on my balcony that overlooked the city
"BJ its time to spill, what's happening between you guys" I said
"We just forgot how to be friends I guess, I mean we've been in this band longer then any of our marriages and I don't know if I can express myself and they feel like they have no creative control we just want to kill each other lately we needed a break." He said
"I completely understand" I said after disgesting what I had just heard
"Really?" he asked
"Of course but the thing is that you guys are not just friends, your brothers, your family and family eventually gets to the point where they want to kill each other but you still love each other deep down inside"
"Of course I love them" he interrupted
"Shush I'm not finished" I said abruptly
"You are three amazing men who are all talented in your own ways and who have gone through more then most people do In a lifetime listen to me BJ when you three reunite with an understanding that this childishness needs to be thrown aside and a new way of listening to each other and accepting that you've all grown up Green Day will transform into a band that could start a revolution....... I believe in you guys I know that you can do it."
He dropped his jaw "Did that just come off the top of your head"
"Yes actually because my mouth has a mind of its own passionate about something" I replied flushed
"Well your right, but I wanna enjoy my holiday before I go face the music and patch things up with Mike and Tre"
"That's sound good to me come her" I said opening my arms to him
We held each other close and he whispered in my ear "I missed you so much dia"
"I missed you too"
"God you smell good"
The next thing I knew we were on the ground tearing at each other clothes kissing passionately a position we would remain in for the next two weeks.
