A Green Day Story, chapter 7

"AMY! Wake up! It's your first day of school here in Berkely!" I heard my dad yell from downstairs.
"Okay!" I replied. Ugh...first day of school...more like intruding in the middle of the school year. I rolled over in my bed and stretched then rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Then I remembered; the guys were going to be here any minute now so we could walk to school together.
I shot out of bed and ran to my closet, rummaging throught random clothing. I pulled out a red t-shirt that said "I didn't do it" on it and a long black skirt. I threw all that on along with a pair of knee high black and red horizontally striped knee socks and my black Vans. Around one wrist I had on a Blink182 wristband and my black, red, and other random colored jellies. I grabbed my messanger bag I used in my old school, but it had new supplies, but I put my old spiral notebooks in there. The ones with my doodles and poems and stories. I had new pens, pencils, erasers, my fancy art colored pencils, and paper and stuff. I put my iPod shuffle around my neck and the headphones in my ears and shoved my new cell phone with it's new number into my pocket. New. New. New. I hated new. It's all I've been hearing since we moved here. A new home. A new room. A new bed. New city. New state. New friends. New school. New, new, new, new. I am sick of it!
I ran out of the room, brushing my long black hair with my brush, then throwing it down on a couch as I passed it. I popped into the kitchen. My dad sat on the table reading a newspaper. My grandma cooking eggs. My dad said something to me, but I couldn't hear him due to the music blasting from my iPod. I grabbed a poptart off the kitchen counter and bit into it. Warm and chocolatey. I was guessing my dad pre-made it for me. I grabbed a small waterbottle I had emptied and filled with chocolate milk from the refrigerator which I had put in there the night before so I could rush out the door. I gave my grandma and dad a kiss goodbye and ran out the door. I met Billie Joe, Tre, and Mike at the corner.
"Hey guys." I said, pulling the headphones out of my ears and taking another sip of the milk and biting the poptart.
"Yo." Tre said and we began walking. The walk wasn't too long, but it was silent. No one said anything the whole time. We finally reached the school once the bell had rung.
"Amy, you want me to show you where the office is so you can get your schedule?" Billie asked me. I nodded and we hurried to the office. We walked in and Billie led me to a lady behind a desk.
"Yes?" The lady asked in an annoyed tone. I chuckled nervoulsy.
"Amy is new here. She needs her schedule." Billie Joe told her. I looked at him with gratitude in my eyes. I hated talking to school administration. A strange fear I had.
"Oh, Ms. Perk?" She said digging through some papers. I nodded. She handed me my schedule and a map of the school and a letter from the principal, I assumed. I thanked her and Billie Joe and I walked out of the office. He looked at my schedule and smiled.
"We have a lot of classes together!" He said and I smiled. "Umn...you have homeroom with me. It's this way." I followed him to the class and Billie took a seat next to Tre. Mike didn't appear to be in this class.
"Umn...hello...you must be the new student!" The teacher stood from his desk and walked over to me. I nodded. "You may sit next to Billie Joe. He's a trouble maker, so I suggest you watch out." I laughed and gladly took the empty seat next to Billie way in the back of the classroom.

The end of the day came quicker than I had expected. I met Billie Joe and the guys in back of the school, and we had decided to stay there for a little while then head to Tre's place. We were sitting on a picnic table watching all our fellow students walking out to their cars and any other means of transportation. Some people, like us, walked to and from school. Those who lived further drove or took the bus.
I watched as Tre pulled a black sharpie out of his pocket and began to write on the picnic table. I peered over to what he was writing and read it aloud.
"I got a rock and roll band...I got a rock and roll life...I got a rock and roll girlfriend...and another ex wife?" I looked at him funny. "You don't got an ex wife, much less a girlfriend!"
"I know...it just sounded good." Tre smiled at me and I laughed at his lack of sense.
"Well, I think it's great." I snatched the Sharpie out of his hands and set to work on a doodle of my own. I looked up for a second, seeing Billie Joe look away quickly. I smirked then looked back down.
Lately we both have been acting awkward around eachother. Billie Joe and I, I mean. I caught myself looking at him an aweful lot today. It was all so confusing.
Snapping back to reality, I looked down at what I had drawn. A rose with a scroll wrapped around it saying "Amy Perk." I smiled at this. It was something I have been drawing for a long time.
"Hey, let's get going!" Mike said, and I stood back up straight and recapped the pen, handing it to Tre. I reached down to grab my bag at the same time Billie reached for his, they were directly next to eachother. Halfway down. our hands met, and we looked at eachother. I blushed, feeling my face turn a crimson red, and rushed to grab my bag and ran over to the other two. I looked back to see Billie Joe just staring back at me.
"C'mon Beej! Hurry before we leave you here!" I called back to him and laughed. He ran after me and I shrieked, causing him to chase me. I giggled and fell after a minute or two, and he fell beside me. We were both breathing heavily and laughing. I looked at him, he looked at me, and in that moment....

I was in love...
