A Green Day Story, chapter 9

"Oh my god! Ashley, Kyle, it's been so long!" I smiled brightly and gave them both a huge hug. I looked at them both. We were standing right outside the airport. I helped them take their luggage to my car, they were staying the week.
"Wow, Amy. It has been a long time. A year! You're, what? Eighteen now." Ashley said, grinning possibly the widest grin that could fit her face.
"Uh huh." I nodded happily then put the suitcase I was carrying carefully into the car trunk. We got in, Kyle in the passengers seat, Ashley in the back, sticking her head into the space between the two front seats. We spent the drive home catching up on what had happened since I left.
"So, this is my house." I smiled and showed them around. Stepping into my room, I heard a small gasp from behind me. I turned around to see Ashley holding up a picture frame from my dresser. I walked over and looked at it.
It was a picture from the last day of school. I was sitting on the picnic table, now covered in my doodles. Billie Joe sat next to me on my right, Tre on my left, both of their arms around me. Mike was on the floor in front of me, and we were all amiling brightly to the camera. There was another on my desk where we ended up all falling on the floor on Mike and we were laughing real hard.
"Man, these guys are HOT!" Ashley said. I laughed and looked at Billie and sighed.
"They're my best friends here. Awesome guys, really." I smiled and looked at Kyle. He was sitting on my bed, examining a cd with the words 'Green Day' scribbled on there messily. A list of songs were also on there. I sat next to him and slipped the cd into my boom box. The music begane to play, and I sang along to it.
"Hey there looking at me, tell me what do you see, as you quickly turn your head away..." As the song ended, I turned it off. Kyle looked impressed, and Ashley looked...well, absorbed in all the pictures of me since I came here, most having the three guys.
"Who was that? They're really good!" He said.
"Oh, that was Mike, Tre, and Billie Joe's band." I smiled.
"Who're they?" Ashley asked, finally peeling her face away from the pictures.
"Them." I said, pointing to a picture I had taken of the guys during their band practice.
"Ooooh..." Ashley muttered, continueing to stare
"They have a gig on Wednesday, if you guys want to see them live. Until then-" I was cut off by my house phone ringing. I had my own number, and my own line. I rolled over to the other side of my bed and snatched the phone off the night stand. Looking at the caller i.d. I saw it was Mike. I pressed the talk button and brought the phone to my ear. "Hey Mike, what's up?"
"Not much. Just wondering if you would mind hanging out today?" He said sweetly. I loved Mike, he was always so nice and not too crazy. Truly a great friend. Oh, and I mean love as in friend love.
"Umn...not unless Ashley and Kyle can as well. Remember, they came in today." I informed him, looking over to my two old friends.
"Sure, why not. We're gonna hang at Tre's today. So hurry the fuck up! We have hanging out to do!" He said and I laughed.
"Alright, alright. We're on our way!" I hung up and began to walk out of the room. "C'mon guys!"
"Where're we going?" Kyle asked, as we neared the front door.
"To Tre's house. You guys can meet my new friends!" I said happily, and we all jumped into the car.

"Okay, guys, we're here!" I said. getting out of the car and looking at Tre's place. I haven't been here in a while, we usually go to Billie's or just hang out at the mall or something. They've only been to my place once.
Obviously, Tre heard us pull up. He ran out of the house, and jumped on me.
"Amy!" He screeched and I laughed and pushed him off me.
"Hello to you too, Frank."
"It's Tre! Tre! Tre!"
"My god, you on something?" I arched an eyebrow as my friends laughed.
"Maybe..." He went all shifty eyed then looked at Ashley and Kyle.
"Introductions later." I smiled and we all walked up to Tre's house. Walking in, Billie Joe seemed to tense up, and Mike jumped up to greet me. I gave him a hug, then sat down besides Billie.
"Guys, this is Ashley and Kyle." I pointed to them. "And this is Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre."
I pointed to each as I said their names. "They are insane."
"Okay..." Ashley said. We sat in silence for a while, and awkward air around us.
"Sooo..." I said, attempting to make conversation.
"Uh...who wants to uh..." Tre began.
"Go to the park?" Mike said. I laughed. We hung out at the park a lot, randomly.
"Okii!" I said, and we all went outside. I took a skateboard out of my trunk. The park was combined with a skate park. Tre lived nearby to it, so we just walked. Billie brought his guitar and skateboard, Tre brought nothing, as did Mike and the rest.
We arrived and sat by a fountain in the front. I stood on my skateboard and looked around. Billie kicked the skateboard out from under me, causing me to fall backwards. I grabbed onto him before I fell, ended up pulling him down as well, and I also fell on top of Kyle. I laughed hard, but for some reason, Billie and Kyle just glared at eachother. I stood up and picked up my skateboard, looking over to a swingset. I walked over slowly and sat down on it, Mike followed me. He sat on the swing beside me, and we both looked at our friends over at the fountain, which wasn't too far away.
"Somehow...Kyle and Ashley being here isn't as great as I thought it would be." I sighed, and looked at Mike.
"I know. It's really awkward. I mean...seriously...we aren't having much insane fun, are we?" Mike looked at me and smiled lightly.
"Not really. I dunno. Should I just leave my past behind, and lose these two friends and start anew? Or should I just continue to push the past with the present?" I sighed again.
"That was a complicated sentence...but I think you should do whatever you want." Mike looked back over to the fountain.
"Great advice." I said, rolling my eyes. "I think Kyle and Billie hate eachother."
"Billie is just jealous."
"Of what?" I said, completely oblivious to what I had heard on Friday. Not putting two and two together, I just sat there, confused.
"That you may choose Kyle over him."
"What do you mean?" I looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
"N-nothing, nothing. I shouldn't have said anything." Mike got up from the swing and joined the group over at the fountain. I sat there a few minutes thinking of what he had said. I stood up, picking back up my skateboard, and walked slowly towards the rest.
"Maybe this'll be more complicated than I thought..." I muttered to myself. "Maybe..."
