A Name Of Oddity, chapter 1

-September 12, 1994-
A calm autumn breeze gently blew several strands of silky black hair in front of the face of 16-year-old Antonia Murdoc. Another night on the rooftop of her apartment building, accompanied by a pen and her song lyrics notebook. Although she was only 16 years old, she and her band had broken right through the rock charts. As she sat on the rooftop, she wrote down some lyrics that were passing through her thoughts.
Another day, another night
Out on the roof alone
People wonder why I'm up there,
They wonder why I'm never home
The roof is my home,
My parents are natural-born idiots
And they fill me with ficticious lies
I wanna stay up here for the rest of my life...
She couldn't think of anything else to write, and she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around to see her bandmate, Luca James, the bassist of her band, Oddity.
"Hey, Toni," he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"Hey. How are ya?" she replied, snuggling into his shoulder.
"Bored as usual," Luca said, looking into her icy-grey eyes. Of all the years he knew her, he always would think of how fierce her (literally) grey eyes were, but somehow, he found the beauty locked deep inside them.
"I'm all the same as well," the teenager threw her head back to let her black hair fall to the ground. "I just can't wait until our first world tour next week."
"Have you packed yet? My mom was bitchin' at me with how much shit I packed."
"Isn't she always bitching at you?"
"No, sometimes she can be a cool mom, except THAT only happens once in a rare while."
"Uh huh. Well, I'm going back to my apartment room. I'll see you next week, Luca," after a quick kiss, they went their seperate ways. Toni going down the stairs, and Luca jumping across rooftops until he reached his apartment building. As she opened the door of her apartment room, she threw her notebook and pen on the couch, and she went into the kitchen, pulling a bottle of water out of the fridge. Toni lived alone in her apartment ever since her parents died two years ago. Since then, she had gotten enough money to help her live and pay the rent by working at the local bar a couple blocks down from her building. Now that she was becoming famous, she could live like she did when she was younger, only she was still living in an apartment.
-One week later...-
"Miss, just for verification, I want you to state your full name," said the flight attendant at the gateway.
"Antonia Jessica Murdoc," sighed Toni as she flashed her I.D., and then boarding the plane.
"All right, gang," said Luca, as he got out of his seat in the flight waiting area in the St. Paul/Minneapolis airport. "First stop: Oakland, California."
"God, I can't wait. Our first world tour," said Jake, the guitarist for Oddity. After boarding the plane, Toni was nervous and excited all at once, to be starting her first world tour.
'The world better watch out, 'cause we're going to conquer its sorry face,' she thought as she looked out the window. I love being sixteen...
