Admitting there is something wrong, chapter 1
The guys sat in Billie's backyard having a summer party. They had one every year which had many people there and great food done by Adrienne.
All the kids were swimming in the pool as Billie tended to the alcohol table, Mike laughed at Joey's poor attempts for beer or vodka. Adrienne was in the kitchen slicing some lettuce to put in with the salad.
The doorbell went, Adrienne sighed and knew she had to get this in case it was the cops telling them to turn the music down. She looked through the peep hole and saw Tre and Candice standing there.
It had been two years since they married, everyone was happy for them. For once something wasn't abusive.
"Hey, are we too late?"
"Hi." Adrienne hugged and kissed both of them, "No, trust me, there is enough food to feed everyone four times over."
They laughed as Adrienne led them through the house and into the backyard, Tre went over to talk to Billie and Mike as Candice gave Adrienne some help.
All the boys were in the pool, even Mike, Billie and Tre were playing water polo with the kids. But the catch was that the kids had the women on their side.
Brittney stood from the side and watched her boyfriend carry on with the kids, she couldn't play which was a shame because she was pregnant. Well due in two months.
Brittney sat on one of the white deck chairs, her feet were sore and her ankles were swollen from the heat and walking. Mike did his fare share but sometimes she wanted him out of the way so she could get some peace.
Adrienne was in the kitchen making some more food up, the kids were eating like horses. But Tre didn't touch a thing, no beer, no food.
Candice walked into the kitchen and saw Adrienne spread mayonnaise onto the bread.
"Do you want a hand?"
"Yeah, knock yourself out."
Candice helped as she would normally do at a party, Adrienne could see everyone from the window. It was a good view to have when Joey went down to the back green for a cigarette. Joey was fifteen, she knew he smoked but didn't bring it up because it would only embarass him even more like Billie's little sex talk.
"So how are you and Tre?"
"We are fine, better than fine, we are great."
Adrienne smiled as Candice's comparison to Tre, he was never around but this time he seemed to stay.
"Adie, can I ask you something?"
"Sure thing," Adrienne waited as she sliced some apple for the kids. Candice didn't know how to say this but something had to be done.
"I think I want kids."
Adrienne dropped the knife and saw the concerned look on the smaller woman's face, Adrienne didn't know what to say, what was there to say?
Tre and Candice drove home to their little apartment nearer the beach. Candice opened the front door as Tre put his keys on the peg and walked slowly into the kitchen fetching some milk.
Candice leaned against the counter. "Tre?"
"Yeah babe?"
Candice played with her wedding ring as Tre turned around to look at her, his eyes meeting hers. She felt guilty at the thought of Tre being unfaithful.
"I want us to try for a baby."
Tre looked at her grinning, she saw that he wanted too as they went to bed early that night.
