Tre looked up at the doctor is disbelief. Lucy was crying loudly but Tre still couldn't take it in, he knew there was kids who had downs and then had extremely happy and sucessful lives to lead. He smiled at the thought of that.
"She is okay isn't she?" Tre stuttered over the crying, the doctor looked at both of them and just spoke very softly as if no was meant to hear.
"Yes but we need to do some more tests. It might be a long wait but you are welcome to have a visitors room made up."
"Thanks." Tre watched the doctor leave the room, Tre sat on the edge of the bed next to Lucy. He wrapped his arms around her tightly as her tears soaked his shirt, he too was crying but knew no matter what he would allways love her.

A few hours later Lucy was lying asleep in the hard hospital bed. Tre was standing at the reception area for the doctor to lead him to his daughter. The doctor walked around from one of the wards and saw Tre standing there with a cute pink teddy in his arms.
"Does Lucy want to come along?"
"No," Tre said looking down. "She wants a rest."
Tre followed him down sevral corridors, he knew she would be in the intensive care unit incase there was any health complications after the birth. Tre looked at some of the children's drawings which were put up on display. They bright colours and meant something to each and every one and that thought made him go all warm inside.
"Mr. Wright, if you and your wife have any problems coping like some parents do. There are support groups with other parents who went through the same."
Tre looked up at him, he knew he was only trying to help but didn't want it right now, but he thanked him anyway.
Finally Tre was led into the room with all the machines which were beeping around a baby crib. He peered over the edge, but he wasn't shocked at the realisation he loved her and thought she was beautiful.
"Hey," Tre spoke softly and rested the pink teddy bear at the bottom, he saw her eyes shut tight which made a lump in his throat hard to swallow.
He didn't know until now that he was crying, how would Lucy react how would anyone react. Some people still believed that children with problems shouldn't be aloud as if they were bad. But they were diffrent.
There wasn't an ounce worth of trouble in them.Tre rubbed his finger of her tiny arms and legs, he wished he could hold her but was scared in case he dropped her. He was thinking of a name, but nothing hit the bell. There was hundreds of the same old boring names in the world, but none expressive. He was thinking about Destiny.

Back along at the small little room that Lucy lay in, she was sitting up in bed looking through diffrent magazines. It was aploy not to go with Tre to see their daughter. She sat there drinking water and reading the time passed rapidly and wondered where her husband had gone.
There was a knock at the door, she peered through the glass and shouted he had to enter.
There the doctor came in with a clip board, he was looking around for something or someone.
"Where is Tre?" He looked at his notes and replyed softly.
"He's with your daughter."

Three days later

Tre was still staying at the hospital. He made trips to see his wife and his child, but the baby was allowed in the care of her mother for a few hours every day to see how she would cope. But it was Tre who held her, Tre who fed her and Tre who changed her.
Mike and Billie hadn't come yet but Tre asked them not to for a few days. Just till everyone gets back on track and they did as he wished.
Tre walked around the small room with their daughter in his arms, she was sound asleep as Tre smiled at her.
"Hey, do you think we should think about names?"
"No, theres no point."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't want a spoiled good, we can take it back."
By this point Tre hit the roof, he knew someone was going to act this way but when it came from his own wifes lips he felt broken.
"She's not some pair of shoes you can take back. She's our daughter."
Tre lay her back in the bedside cradle as there was yet another knock on the door, Candice's parents were standing there with baloons and flowers and sweets and wine.Tre stood against the radiator and saw them only go near Lucy and not the baby.
"Whats the baby's name?" her mother asked, she was a bit posh but Tre had to speak up.
"Destiny." Tre smiled at her as she went over to the cradle. She took one look and walked back.
"This can't be her."
"It is," Tre said planting a soft kiss in Destiny's head

Once everyone had left Tre gave Destiny her last bottle and lay her down to sleep,
Lucy lay on the bed in her own world listening to some music through the headphones. Tre felt belittled by today, his dad was supposed to be coming to stay once they evryone was home and that cheered him up a bit.
After another week everyone went home.

Tre did all the housework and looked after Destiny as Lucy lay in her bedroom alone. Tre had no idea what to think the in-laws hated the baby and so did the mother. But things could change couldn't it.
Tre had asked Billie and Mike to come over for an hour or so, it would give him someone else to talk to. Talking to Lucy was like trying to draw blood from a stone. Tre knew deep down that this was going to be really hard, but no matter what he needed them both.
Tre was making up some bottles, he heard Destiny giggling in the living room, she was lying in her basket infront of the fire.
The door bell went as he put the tea towel over his shoulder and answered it to a gleaming Mike and Billie.
"Congratulations!" Billie and Mike both hugged Tre in turn as the three went into the living room with Destiny.Mike and Billie stood over the cradle as went aww and started smiling. Tre went into the kitchen, he leaned over the sink trying to calm down. Mike came in as Billie took Destiny from the crib and was showing herself in the mirror which received giggles.
Mike closed the door over and put his arm around Tre's shoulder, he looked up at the taller man.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, Lucy isn't helping she's drinking a lot."
"Listen, she will come around.Destiny needs her Mom and Dad."
Tre nodded and wiped his face, Billie carried Destiny into kitchen and peeker her around the door.
"Boo!"
A loud giggle escaped her mouth as Tre laughed and put her back in the cradle as they began to talk about other things.
