A Different Green Day Story., chapter 1

My name is Charlotte Williams. I'm 11 years old and my parents, brother, sister and I just moved to Berkeley, California. Everyone calls me Charlie for short.
I have an 8 year old brother named Shane and a 6 year old sister named Danielle.

We moved from Waterloo, Iowa just a week ago. California is quite nice.

Anyways, I'm just getting ready for school. Oh, man...first day of school. I slipped on my flower printed light blue jeans and a pale blue t-shirt and white tennis shoes. I brushed my light brown hair back into a pony tail and tied it in a pale blue ribbon. I picked up my pale blue backpack and walked out the door and slipped on my white watch.

Mom was downstairs making breakfast; eggs, cereal, toast, bacon. Shane and Danielle were already eating. I sat down and ate and drank orange juice then started walking to school.

On the way, I saw a boy about my age with dark brown hair that looked sort of messy and curly like and pretty brown eyes. He smiled at me and continued walking with two other boys, one I am assuming is his little brother and the other his friend.

I got to school and went to the main office place to get my papers so I know what classes to go to. First I had to go to History, I started walking to my locker to drop off my backpack and then set off. I saw the boy again and he started following me.

The boy went inside the History class I was in and sat down at a desk in the second row. I walked up to the teacher, Mrs. Johnson and handed her the papers.

"Class, this is Charlotte Williams. She just moved here, would anyone like to show her around?" the teacher asked. The boy raised his hand, so did another boy with blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Joey, would you like to show her around?" she asked the boy I had seen many times today. He nodded politely. I sat behind him in and started taking notes.

After class Joey started talking to me. "So, where are you from?" he asked. We were walking down the hall way, going to Math.
"Iowa. It's quite a bore there. Have you always lived here?" I asked.
"Yeah. It's boring here too. Thankfully there are a lot of kids in town, so it helps," he said shrugging. "How old are you?" he asked.
"11. I'll turn 12 April 14th. What about you?"
"I'll be 12 in March," he said.
I smiled. "Cool."
"So, do you wanna go to the park after school? You can meet my brother and my friends." he said.
"Okay! I just have to go back home and tell my Mom."
"Okay."
We went to Math, then had Writing.

We're on our way to lunch now. The two boys I saw earlier were sitting at a table, talking along with two other girls and another boy.
Joey and I walked over and sat down. "Charlotte," he said. "Um, please call me Charlie," I said.
He smiled. "Sorry, Charlie. She just moved here from Iowa." he said.
"Hi, Charlie." they said. I smiled.
"That's Frankito, or Frankie." he said, pointing at a boy about the age of 9 that had reddish brown hair that was spiky and blue eyes. "That's Estelle, or Stella," he pointed at a girl with brown hair and blue eyes. "That's Ramona, or Rae. She's Frankie's sister, she's our age," he pointed at the girl across. "And that's my brother, Jakob. He's the same age as Frankie, nine," he said, pointing at the boy that looked like a smaller version of him, only his head was shaped a little different.

"So, you like music, Charlie?" Stella asked me. I nodded.
"Yeah, I like U2, Bowling For Soup, The Clash, Ozzy Osbourne, Green Day and some others." They looked at each other nervously. "What? You guy's don't like music?" I asked. They shook their heads. "What?" I asked. I hope I didn't say anything wrong....
"Nothing! So, what do you like to do?" Joey asked quickly.
"I play guitar. I like writing and drawing a lot," I said. They smiled.
"That's cool. Rae's really good at drawing," said Jakob.
"Nah, Frankie's way better. I'm just kind of...blah." they laughed.
"So, you coming to the park with us after school?" asked Stella.
"If my Mom says it's okay, I'd love to!" I exclaimed.
"Cool!" they said.

I think this is a start to a great friendship.
