I Didn't Think I'd Ever Be With Him Again, but Thanks To Our Daughter, I am!, chapter 1

I walked into my 8 year old daughter's room, to greet her for her birthday.
"Happy Birthday, Bethany Jade!" I said tickling her.
"Stop it, Mommy!" she giggled.
"You're 8 today, pumpkin," I said kissing her face all over.
"Ew, yuck!" she said in between laughs.
I stopped tickling her, and sat on her bedside.
"What do you want for your birthday?" I asked her.
"I want to meet my daddy!" she said.

I looked at her, and said, "Sweetie, I don't think that's a good idea."
"Please Mommy, I'll never ask for anything again. Promise!" she said sincerely.
"I don't know where he lives," I lied to her.
"Yes, you do! You told Aunt Stephany that he lives here," she said looking at me.
"Okay, fine. Are you sure you want to meet him?" I said looking at her.
"Yes! I really do!" she said.
"Okay, fine. I'll take you to see him this after noon," I said.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!" she said hugging me.
"You're welcome. Now get dressed. We are going to go have breakfast, and then I'm going to take you to buy your present. What do you want?" I asked her.
"A CD," she said.
"Which one do you want?" I asked curiously.
"This band, Karly told me about. They have good songs," she said to me.
"What's the name of the band?" I asked.
"Green Day," she said.

She can't know can she? I mean, there's no way. It's just a coincidence. She's only 8.

"Um, okay," I said nervously.
I was walking out of her room, until her little voice said, "Mommy, what's his name?"
"Who's name?" I asked stupidly.
"My daddy, duh!" she said giggling.
"Oh, his name is...Billie...Billie Joe," I said softly.
"That sounds kind of like my name," she said.
"I know," I smiled and walked out of my room.

The first thing I did was picked up my phone, and dialed my best friend Stephany's number.
"Hello," she answered.
"Hey Jewel, what's up?" I asked.
"Nothing really, I'm about to go to work. What are you up to?" she asked.
"Alot. Guess who I told Bethany I'd take her to see today?" I said.
"Who?" She asked curiously.
"Billie," I said.
"Oh shit. Does he even know about her?" she asked.

"Nope," I replied honestly.
"Why did you tell her that you'd take her?" she asked.
"She said she wanted to meet her daddy. And then I told her I didn't know where he lives. Then she said, she remembered me telling you he lives here. So, I couldn't tell her no," I explained.
"Oh. Well, why didn't you tell him about her when you found out you were pregnant?" she asked.
"He was getting into his band, and they were doing really awesome. They even got a record deal. I couldn't hold him back from that. So, when I found out I just moved. I haven't talked to him since," I said tears welling up in my eyes.
"Did he try looking for you?" she asked.
"Yeah, he even went to my parent's house. And every time he came back from touring her would try and look for me. But I told everyone to tell him, they didn't know anything. I was scared," I said.
"You still love him don't you?" she asked softly.
"Yes, more than anything in the world. But he has two boys now, he was married. But I think I read he got a divorce or something," I said.
"Well, maybe when you go see him today. You can work things out," she said.
"He probably hates me. I wouldn't blame him either," I said honestly.
"Don't say that. He'll understand why you left. Especially if it was for his benefit," she said.
"Yeah, well hey. I have to go. I'm going to take Bethany to eat breakfast and buy her a Green Day CD," I said chuckling a little.
"Oh my god, does she know?" she gasped.
"No, I don't think so. She just said she likes there songs. I doubt she knows the lead singer is her daddy. Boy will she be surprised," I said.
"Yeah, well, call me after. And tell me how things go. Please," she said.
"Okay. Love you!" I said.
"Love you, too!" she said.

Then we hung up.

"Bethany, are you ready to go?" I shouted threw the house.
"Yeah!" she said running in the living room.
"You look adorable," I said pinching her cheek.
"Stop it, Mommy," she giggled.
"Okay, let's go," I said, walking out the door.

We got into the car, and she turned the radio on.
"I HEARD YOU CRYING LOUD. ALL THE WAY ACROSS TOWN, YOU'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THAT SOMEONE AND IT'S ME OUT ON THE PROWL..." the radio blasted.

Another coincidence! I hope all these signs are good.

I turned down the radio and then Bethany said, "I like that song. That's Green Day."
"I know," I replied.

We ate breakfast at McDonalds. Then I took her to the music store, to buy her the CD she wanted.

We were looking at the CD's and she handed me one, "This one," she said.
"Nimrod?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said.
"Okay, fine," I smiled.

We took it to the counter and she placed it. The man scanned the CD, and smiled, "Aren't you a little young to be listening to Green Day?" he said looking at Bethany.
"Nope, I like their music. I don't say bad words though. My mommy would kill me," she said. I smiled and paid for the CD.

We got into the car, and she opened her CD and was looking at the pictures in the booklet.
"Look Mommy! This is Green Day," she said pointing to Billie, Mike and Tre, "This one is cute." She was pointing at Mike.
"Yeah, he's okay. But I like this one," I said pointing at Billie.
"No, he looks too old," she said.
I giggled.
"Are you ready to meet your daddy?" I said looking at her.
"Yeah, I guess so. Do you think he'll like me?" she asked.
"He'd be stupid not to," I said looking at her.

I pulled into Billie's street. I knew where he lived because I still talked to a few people that still talk to Billie. They just don't know about Bethany.

I found his house, and parked on the driveway.
"Ready sweetie?" I asked.
"Yeah, mom, this house is really big," she replied.
"I know," I said.

I took a deep breath, and stepped out of the car. Bethany did the same.

I took her hand and walked to the front door.

I knocked on the door and...
