At the Zoo..., chapter 2
They arrived at the zoo at 12:00, because Tre' was too hungry to wait in the car.
Billie Joe asked his kids where they wanted to go first. "The Petting Zoo!" they screamed.
"I'm right here. Calm down. Alright, let's go."
"I want to see the girraffes first." Tre' Cool whined.
"It's okay, Tre'. We'll go later. Besides, the elephants are next to the petting zoo. Don't you want to see them?" Adrienne asked.
"Oh boy!" he said and skipped away. "C'mon guys!"
"Wow. He is one of the strangest people I've met." Mike said.
"No, he's the strangest." Billie Joe sighed.
The boys ran after Tre' laughing and shouting. When they got to the Petting Zoo gate, they sat down and waited. They were breathing heavily from running, but anxious to go in. That's when Joey saw the sign. It read:
FEED THE ANIMALS! $0.25
PER HANDFUL OF FOOD.(IT
DOES NOT MATTER WHICH
ANIMAL.) HAVE A NICE DAY.
He ignored his need to catch his breath and ran to his mother. He tugged her sleeve rapidly. "Mommy, Mommy!"
"What is it dear?" she asked, concerned.
He was still breathing heavy. "WE can...feed the...animals....for...a quarter each.....Pleeeeeeeeease!"
"Of course." she said, relieved it was nothing bad.
She gave them each 25 cents and told them to go in. Tre' wanted to go and pet the goats. He was listening to his IPod and didn't hear the warning...
We all know goats eat anything. All of us but Tre'. Suddenly he yanked out the headphones and yelled,"Hey! Where'd the sound go?"
He turned around to see a goat chewing on the cord. His eyes shot open and it took all the strength he had to keep from slapping the goat. He walked out as calmly as possible to find his friends LAUGHING! He muttered something to himself and went over by the elephants. "It really is a shame. So darn expensive." he heard a deep voice say.
"Huh?" said Tre', looking around. "Who's there?"
"Nobody but us." said the voice.
Tre' spun around to see a huge elephant, SMILING at him. "Y-you? T-talking to me? I don't remember taking pills or anything..." he stammered.
"Just a frindly hello." the elephant said. "I'm Hugo. Who are you?"
"I'm...T-Tre' Cool."
"Nice to me---Wait a minute. Tre' Cool? The Tre' Cool? The drummer of my all time favorite band, Green Day?"
"The one and only."
"Wow. I never thought I'd meet you."
"I never thought I'd talk to an elephant."
They both laughed.
"You want to meet the other 2?"
"Boy, would I!"
"One sec." he ran over to get them. "Sorry, Adi, but can I borrow these 2? On official man business."
"Oh. Okay. I'll see you later." she said, trying not to laugh.
He dragged them over to the elephant. "Meet...Hugo! He's a really big fan."
"Right."said Billie Joe. "He's lost his nut." Mike said.
"He never had it." Billie Joe said back.
"Guys, just talk to him."
"Hi." said Billie Joe and Mike in unison.
"Oh! Hello. I can't believe it's you guys! I love all your songs, especially Longveiw. I can do the bass part. Listen." he said quickly, and began to hum, sounding almost idenical to a bass guitar.
Mike and Billie Joe were speechless.
"Is'nt he awesome?!" Tre' said, excited.
They just nodded. The elephant smiled to himself. He never got humans to listen to him before, and for Green Day to be the first was the best thing ever!
